Well there's nothing better than test riding a bike to see if it works for you, as an individual. I can say from experience, that we have tons of folks who come in and ride the Aventure.2, Mokwheel Basalt ST, Velotric Nomad, Denago Fat Tire 3, and the Big Sur, and 90% of people that ride all of those go with a Big Sur. I've sold 2 Aventure.2s in the same amount of time I've sold 300 Big Surs....and that's based on people riding both and choosing the Big Sur. And as a fun aside, I just got back from touring Bafang and AIMA facilities in China, and what they're doing over there as far as quality control and product development blows most of these companies out of the water. It's honestly hard for me to recommend anything else to people if they're looking for longevity and a solid product. But again, its worth a test ride to make sure, but if you did decide to go with the Big Sur, you wouldn't be making the wrong decision :P And also, thanks for watching the videos! I appreciate it!

@ thanks for the reply! The LBS got in a large Aventure 2 which I got to test ride yesterday. Nice bike, but the Big Sur just felt better all around. I think that’s my final choice. It’s priced at $1,799 (plus $150 assembly fee and taxes), do you think the price may go down after Christmas or early next year? Also, so cool you got to tour the AIMA facilities! Good to hear they’re doing some great things. From your reviews and others I’ve read/watched, it seems like they’re putting out some quality products.

$1,799 is likely going to be the best price you'll see on it. Most of the retailers have been trying to get them to raise the price, since it's just a better bike, so I would guess that price won't get any better. Also, we charge $151 for assembly, so seems like you're getting a pretty good value out of the assembly from your LBS.

@ pulled the trigger on it yesterday!! 😬 it’s being delivered to the shop tomorrow. I don’t know why I’m feeling buyer’s remorse already haha, but I’m sure I’m gonna love it and not regret it. They even waived the assembly fee.

That's awesome! Love hearing about how people customize Ebikes and such. Me and the guys at the shop are all in the middle of some custom builds, so that's awesome!

Are you talking about the crank arm length, or the bottom bracket? Cranks are measured from the center of the spindle hole (where it connects to the bottom bracket spindles) and the center of the hole where your pedals are threaded on, if that's the length you're looking for.

@Ennovation Do I need to know The diameter of bottom bracket ( hole) which connects the two crank arms or is it standard for all bikes? I need to find out the size of the bottom bracket WITHOUT removing the Crank/arms etc

I agree with you there! Their Malibu Mini was a pretty popular bike at the shop when we had them in, cause of the smaller wheels, and pedal forward geometry, they fit alot of smaller folks well.

We’ve got people at the shop who have purchased in Houston get a realistic 45-50 miles. A few who’ve gotten up to 55 hours just the larger Big Sur. But the Santa Monica is lighter, and the batteries are the same size, so if you’re doing some decent pedaling, would be interesting to see if you can get 55 out of it. Most people probably get about 40-45 in those levels though.

That’s a fair point! In Houston, and probably most markets they may be overpriced for what you get, in Orange County I’m always surprised what they see as fair market value for ebikes. And they’re from around that area.

I know, that's definitely a drawback for some. You could swap out for a regular seat post and throw a Turtleneck Stem on there. (The bmx bars can be positioned back towards the rider).

It's pretty simple here. You press and hold the up and down buttons at the same time. Then enter into the advanced settings (the power button is the enter button) the code is 1212. Once you're there you can select between Class1, Class 2, Class 3 Am Mode, and Unlimited Mode. Unlimited mode is how you get the most out of the Ebike as far as speed goes.

That's a pretty steep hill, but if you take this to your local dealer, you can have them "unlock them" (it's just a firmware update for the controller) The throttle will do about 30-31 MPH, and they can adjust the torque, PAS will get you about 32-33 in good terrain of course. But changing the torque out, I would think it would be able to tackle just about anything in Inverse Florida. ;)

Unfortunately the only way to make them faster is to swap out the controller, and possible add a different motor, though just swapping out to a higher amperage controller might do the trick.

It's says about 22"/23" at its widest in the rear, but i think those are the internal dimensions of the rear seat. I would guess it's about 30"/31" total width in the rear.

No way! I've seen some big ole boys hop on this and cruise around. You might lose a little bit of range, but it will definitely handle ya on most moderate terrain.

Wish they make an xlg but is you put the hiresrise bars and kinetic seat could I ride it in comfort

The geometry here on the Big Sur Sport is pretty top notch for that type of riding, which is how I ride when I'm riding for fun. You can also unlock them at your local bike shop for about 30MPH with the throttle and about 32/33MPH with the pedal assist, so huge plus for me there. Also, price point...the Sport is $1,699 right now for Black Friday, and you don't get anything better with the Pedego. Also, I now have quite a bit of experience with the AIMA brand. At my bike shop, we've sold about 300+ of them, and have not had a single one with any issues whatsoever. Some of the brands are like 3/10 bikes have some problem we need to fix. So, I'm personally a huge fan, and the products are straight quality. It's my favorite bike that has come out this year for value and all-around ride experience.

Well the nice thing about this platform is you can put any seat you want on here. So, you can get one on Amazon for $35-$50 that you can just install on the existing seatpost. So don't let that stop you ;)

There is a small red toggle switch on the bottomside/side of the battery area. That got me too when I first got mine to review. Hopefully that will help you out!

It does, but I would recommend doing it without the bikes strapped down, as it can get heavy with 2 Ebikes on it.

Agreed! But if the bikes are off it's not too bad to do so. It's about 72lbs (very robust) but a tad heavier.

They could have been. It's been awhile since I did this video, but I also know I was on one of five pre-production models, and they've improved pretty much every aspect of this bike.

4 years ago I think the price for the full carbon fiber frame, belt, and portability was decent, but I don't think it really makes much sense in this market. If it had a 15Ah battery and a 500-watt motor that might make sense, or even this same build at a lower price.

@@Ennovation They actually increased the price to 2699$ and if you want a throttle its 50$ more, I've never seen an ebike company offering a throttle as an optional upgrade.. a throttle on Amazon is like 12$

So that is an EXCELLENT comparison. Not every comparison question on here makes sense to me, but this is spot on! So, funny story, we JUST started selling Troxus at Power On Ebikes, and I assembled our first Trax 1.0 2 days ago. Colors are awesome, and I'm very impressed with the quality of the Troxus line. I haven't put too many miles on the Trax, so it's hard for me to make a thoughtful conclusion, but in the end you'd love either one. Both brands are known for having very few defects and problems, and since I'm assuming you're picking it up at a local dealer, the best thing to do is test ride them both, but my professional opinion is you can't go wrong with either of those. Most of my confidence in the Trax comes from a friend of mine who has an Ebike store in Denver, and he sells a ton and has had little to no defects or issues, and I trust him. The AIMA lineup I know much more from experience. At the shop, we've sold over 300 of them, and literally not had one issue whatsoever. Nobody is bringing their bikes in with issues, and everyone I've followed up with have absolutely loved the experience on them. I assumed you're testing these out at a dealer, is that the case? Or will you be trying to order them online?

He's had some really good feedback with the AIMA bikes, and hasn't seen many of the issues we're seeing with other brands in the industry. At my shop, we've sold over 300 AIMA bikes this year, and haven't had a single issue, and no one is bringing them back, which we love :)

It can be used as a regular trike if no battery is there. It'll be heavy, but it's doable. If you get the second battery option, you'll be looking at 100-120 miles of range on a single charge.

Well, thank you :) Yes I got this before the racks came in for the bikes, now they all get racks, which is definitely a bonus for this type of bike. Now, there's no regeneration technology here, and my best guess is it has to do with the geared rear hub motor. I haven't felt that feeling you're describing here, but then again I'm mostly riding around in unlimited mode and PAS 5 haha. I am just about to head to the shop, and when I get there I'll ride it around and see if I can recreate that braking feeling.

The nice things about trikes is they're very stable, so even if you're not touching the ground with both feet, it's stable and you can easily get on and off. 5'0" might be a little short for a "feet on the ground" experience, but I would be pretty confident that it would work.

Hey Todd! This is definitely a really solid option for RVs, due to how compact these things are. They're great for scooting around the campsites. Since the standard range is 10mi on the regular single battery, that would be more than enough for her daily commute. Also, these things charge up pretty darn quickly as well, so if she forgot to charge it at the house as an example. and made it to work, but wanted more juice for the ride home, she could charge it at work in just a few hours and be fully ready to ride back. Plus, it's super light, and has a nice slim profile. So probably lots of nooks and crannies for her to store it at work.

This bike was alright. Definitely more or less what I expected. I have a different perspective on DYU because that's one of the most common brands we fix in our service department, so hard for me to recommend. If it were me, and those were my three choices, I'd probably get either of the FIIDO bikes.

@@Ennovation any other bikes or companies you'd recommend? I'm loooking for either 16 or 20 inch ebikes that can fit into the boot (x2 bikes)

@@challengeronrift The XP Lite 2 is a pretty good option, if that is available over there. Most of the folding bikes end up being a bit bigger than you'd think, though depending on what you're driving, there might be more options.

That's awesome!! The Santa Monica is definitely an upgrade to the Pace for sure. Blue is also my favorite color of the three! You guys tried out that unlimited mode yet? Or you mostly just using it to cruise around? (although 40 miles in 2 days is a little bit more than just cruising around! haha)
