A different kind of horse race
Просмотров 2665 лет назад
Catch horse, saddle, rope a cow and stop it. This is our gelding Sioux's first ranch rodeo. He always thought when he got unsaddled and turned loose it was time to play. At home he is the first one to want a halter on!
Happy to see it muddy!

Taking dry cows to market. Nothing like having a liner coming to make it rain!
Deer checking out garden

The deer must have found out I was going to get serious about gardening. They are standing in my garden plot not even 20ft away from me filming in my living room. OK let the games begin!

Houndstooth is a quick and easy pattern to learn with no pickup sticks required! This video is on an Ashford 24" rigid heddle loom
Twin calf learns to bucket feed
Просмотров 2,2 тыс.5 лет назад
One of our cows had twins but not enough milk for two calves so this little one has been on a small bottle and today is going to learn how to drink from the big bucket. Kirstin has fed many bucket calves but this is the first time for her with a first timer.
What cows do (when no one is around)

Relax, listen to the classical music and see what cows do. And several short appearances by gophers who do a semi-dramatic finish.

Thank you for the easy tutorial. I have one question, I am so used to hemstitching at begining and end, before removing from loom, Obviously since this is my first time double width I am guessing would have to hemstitch once taken off, either that or work upside down to hemstitch bottom layer. Is there a technique to make sure it does not unravel. I am using a scrap piece of yarn right now which is thicker then the piece I will be doing. Made a sample size of 20 slots on a 10 dent. I am thinking if i do enough of the scrap yarn then it might be easier to hemstitch once taken off the loom. Or is there different ways to remove a double width, I just started rigid heddle loom 2 weeks ago, I learn quickly and have made 4 long 8 feet pannels which I will hand sew together of a #6 yarn as a blanket. Or do you already have videos of how to secure before or after removing pieces from the loom. Thanks
How beautifull 😍👏
can you do this with 4 heddles instead of 2 sticks?
wouldn't it work with 4 heddles instead of 2 pickup sticks? also do you have a threading pattern for the doubles weave?
I am also curious if it can be done with 4 heddles.
@@RuthMastersonthis loom can’t gave four heddles
I am first time doing double weave. can tell where would need to put in the pick up stick. This is great video
That music! 🤣🤣 perfect Maltepoos are the best!!!
This is intellectual content honesty
What size yarn are you using? Thanks!
Is the warping for double width the same as for double layered weaving? I'm having a hard time finding a warping video specifically for double width.
Yes
JudyDawn, I found you! Yay! I Subscribed , Liked, Saved, the trifecta. Thank you for posting.
Hey I can do it now!!
Amazing!
Just do grain now haven't had cattle in 17 years but sure looks cool. I wish we had this back then instead of one guy tagging and the other holding the hockey stick to keep mama cow away. Where is this? SW Sask or SE Alberta?
In Alberta along Hwy 23. I hear the voice of experience😊 Hockey sticks are definitely useful. For the snotty cows a spade on the nose usually did the trick!
Lovely video Thank you. Question: I noticed that both colors have been warped continuously with no tedious tying off on the back apron rod with each alternating color. Did you warp one color FIRST, skipping every other slot ,and then continue filling the empty slots with the OTHER color? Or....did you literally tie both colors on at the beginning and warp them (alternately) together? Or...LOL did you warp BOTH colors TOGETHER in every OTHER slot and sort it all out when you threaded the 'eyes'? I hope that question makes sense. LOL
😊I think I understand what you are saying. Since it's only two threads I didn't tie off each time I just picked up the other colour. And kept going. Tension can be adjusted easily.
How do you warp the heddle loom for a double weave?
Here is the link from my channel which shows the threading. Disregard the comments for odd number of threads. This was for a tube project but the threading is the same.

Really like this video thank you. I see you started 2 purple, 2 white etc then half way you introduced pink as 3rd color - What is your sequence ?
I just replaced the purple with a pink and purple verigated mix.
Thank you, thank you! This is a great video of just exactly what I needed to know!
Thank you for posting this. It's very helpful. I've been struggling with double weave and this makes it look almost easy!
Thankyou! Good luck with your weaving. Please share 😊
Currently doing a doubleweave on my 32" loom. I use a different sequence but the down shed is always a mess! Glad to know it's not just me LOL
How do u know where to put the pick sticks?
Pick up stick A goes through (with both reeds in down position) one thread from each slot which should be on top. Push A to the back. Move heddles into down position, move A forward, insert Pick up stick B in the thin bottom shed. Thankyou for your question! I'm seeing the need to create a video including the entire process from threading the warp to removing the item from the loom. I did include all the steps in my "Judy Dawn Smith Channel" (lwranch7@gmail.com) videos Making a pillow cover, Parts 1 and 2. Those videos have both sides joined on the edges creating a tube.
So basically when you take the piece off the loom it will unfold and be twice as wide? That’s such a cool technique! I would love to see a video of how you warp that setup and what it looks like when you remove it from the loom.
Yes, twice as wide.
I will be sure to post next time I weave a double width project.
Would this be the same as four-shaft weaving, but without the strings and dowels? That part confuses me.
Thanks for watching! I am unfamiliar with the techniques of four-shaft weaving so you might want to go over the video with someone who is. Happy weaving!

I'd like one of them to pickup women .
cool setup....momma gets stressed out a bit but all is good when baby is released.... ;-)
Most of the cows just stand and watch them walk away with their calves when it's all done.

Another idiot wanna be.U shouldn't run the shit out of them.what about breaking legs ? Is it necessary to throw them around?
What the hell you doing idiots!!!???
A new way to cowboy without roping the calf maybe breaking its neck very smart !
Very smart !!!
I Love this, but I bet the ranchers love it even more....
It helps us do the job safely and efficiently!
Aaww.. Mom cow all worried .!! See animals do have feelings.
Nature gave her protective instincts to keep the young safe from preditors. I can't imagine what a mess it would be if none of the cows worried about their calves and just buggered off!
What happened to the good old days with horses... my grandfather would be disappointed...
