The making of Lords of Dogtown
A drought in 1970s Southern California has an unexpected side effect: as people empty their swimming pools, a group of teen surfers from the Dogtown area of Venice Beach move in with skateboards, and a new sport is born. Based on a true story, this film follows "Z-Boys" skate team members Stacy Peralta (John Robinson), Tony Alva (Victor Rasuk) and Jay Adams (Emile Hirsch), plus manager Skip Engblom (Heath Ledger), as their fearless "pool surfing" leads to fame, fortune -- and misfortune.

Emile hursch could play a young jax teller in sons of anarchy
Such a classic
Stacy seems like such a lovely guy. The way Rodney Mullen describes him in his book makes you just wanna go skate and try to impress him to make him laugh at you (appearently that was his way of telling you that he likes what you do) 😀
have a good Trip...JAY...!!!!!
Was that Stacey Peralta in the beginning who said "all revolutions start in the streets?"
I love this movie. It's one of my all-time favorites. Respect and love from Mexico.🇲🇽
The Jay Leno crying masturbation scene ruined the end of this movie. Completely unnecessary
Lance Mountain should have won an award for that camera work.
The fact they only refer to lance as a skate videographer is shameful.
The fact is Stacy is a non-factor in Dogtown. The other guys never even mention him. Watch the OG Z-boy, Alva and Dogtown docs and see for yourself.
This was really great doc. 🤙
sht is cringe.
Seeing the end at the dog bowl brought me to tears. I love skateboarding.
Yeah ❤Lance
On of my favorite movies... I was 9 when it came out and it's the reason I got into skateboarding. Until I watched this upload I almost forgot about the behind the scenes stuff on the DVD. Thanks for uploading!
Who else watches this in a portable dvd player😂😂😂
Skip is the only man responsible enough to harness the power of his handlebar mustache.
Unbelievable they ghosted Jeff Ho.
This movie is perfect
I think the cam work of Lance took this movie to a place never seen before....
Bones Brigade fucking legend Lance referred to as Skater Cameraman is a fucking low blow lmao
I see the real skaters but where's the real stacy peralta?
Jay was regular footed, so,why did they use an actor who was goofy footed?
Heath 😢😢❤
Lived in Venice and Mar Vista...the 70's were like the hangover of the 60's...the hair....the clothes...the cars...and the MUSIC😂🎸🎶♥️🎶🎸 20:48

Ah! The old DVD intro pages!!!
Dude heath ledger got Skips voice so on point, Wow
Not gonna lie now that I think about it, I was glamorizing the beginning of the underground skating era. I wanted to be apart of it, that would be so cool but I thought their story was 80’s or 90’s, not the 70’s💀 idk if I’d want to have lived back then in that era, that means now I’d be 65😮💨 I’m happy where I’m at, but watching this move you realize you’re watching a bunch of dudes from the 70’s who blew up skateboarding, it was so much before my time it’s insane. Still respect it but man it feels like it happened in the 90’s, not the 70’s😵
lol. Just like the film '' mid90s'' is more mid 80s or 70s *L M F A O !*

This is the only movie I have watched over and over ,, I was 18 in 78 🇦🇺 had the chance to live USA
Fake ass BS. Born and raised Cali started skating in 1966 and been skating for over 57 yrs, this is all garbage. At the end of the movie their is a disclaimer "This is fictional".
This movie lost money for the producers and distributors . The budget was 26 million dollars . A movie needs to make double the budget or more to be profitable. .So they needed at least 52 million or more . It only made 13 million at the box office. . So they lost 40 million dollars. .. ...
This movie was awesome!
Such a magical time. I wasn't out in CA yet, but I'm glad I was around for it.
you actually posted the bts from the movie on your YT channel 😂🤦♂
I like the scene where Sofia Vergara is dressed like a lil sexy slut ufffff
Who the fuck cares, this movie was fucking dogshit, literal pile of shit that had me falling asleep.
What happened to all the boards made for the movie? I would definitely buy one.
The fact is Dogtown and the Z-Boys was an incredible documentary and brought me back to that very special period of my life in a very profound way. The movie Lords of Dogtown, by comparison, absolutely sucked. I can totally understand Stacey Peralta's motivation to expand on the original documentary with a "Hollywood Movie," but the movie failed to capture the raw feeling of the documentary. IMHO
Best movie
So dark ass holiwood today now 20/24 yeah ok shums
Thank you god
Grew up skating pavement. True thrashers rule .
So this be sad but true story. I be on set for this on they 98th day of filming. They be doing a bunch of shots near this beat up Cafe so I tried making myself visible . I bump into Fricking the joker himself. Heath ledger I say I love his movies. He says am I freaky? So I let him slide in my yams in back alley. I hadn't gotten my surgery yet and my dead name was devontay Walter. I was still a woman just in a man's body. Well he finished and I'm trying to wipe up the mess and I see a name tag on his shirt. Harry. I ask him what is that? He laugha and admits he wasn't heath and he be Chinese and heath be white. I was sickened. I gave myself to this liar and racist wanna be colonizer White Supremecy won't win today. So I admitted that I got that bug and he entered unprotected so he now got it. Have fun at ya Trump rally #BlackLivesMatter #AsiansBeRacist
🤡
So you have a vagina. Congratulations
Who’s your favorite Z boy? Jay Adams is mine.
I know the breakup of the Zephyr team was really emotional for Jeff Ho and Skip Engloom, so I'm glad Skip had a chance to work with the movie set. If it wasn't for Ho and Englom, none of this would have happened.
It was Stacy Peralta’s idea to make the Dogtown documentary
I don't buy many movies, but this was a must. I think they know now, but at the time, the influence they had - I mean, Alva was the king of air. Skateboarder mag took it from the street to the pool. I was an East Coaster and everything skating was dictated by these guys. Skateparks blew up across the country, contests, product, a gold rush! .... for a moment. I did the breaking into pools when they closed down for fall and drained them (almost) for photoshoots. We tried to replicate the shit man - and getting chased out - we did public pools, the deep ends with the diving boards were always the best but some weren't worth the climb over the fence, all square. They were the shit man. When a new mag came out we gathered at a house where 2 brothers had a half pipe in the backyard. We smoked shitty pot, looked through the pictures and got to work on the lastest whatever. It was a good day when no one went to the hospital but there were times of realville. Anyone says they never got hurt? weren't skaters. This is what California dreams were made of late 70's
My favorite movie of all time, ever since I first saw it in 2007
I’ve always loved this movie since it came out, I hadn’t watched it since like 2010 maybe, last night though me and my girlfriend watched it, it was her first time watching it, she loved it, and as for me, watching it again as an adult was really awesome! ☺️ also seeing the movie on a better tv on Prime was great, got to really see scenes that were originally very dark back in the day lol😆
I watch this entire movie being filmed I was security guard for executive insurance filmed in Venice Beach San Pedro Culver city Baldwin hills 20 something years ago
