Episode 46: Another Emergency Room Visit
Well, Caitlin and I are back with more ridiculousness than ever. Yes, I had another random injury with a trip to the ER and yes, now I have a good story. Yes, Caitlin has an ANCIENT iPhone and yes, we study an incredibly obscure passage of scripture and it's all just FUN. Also, this is a sneak peak of one of our Patreon episodes (aka what you could be getting more of every week)

Caitlin-I love studying the Old Testament and finding Jesus in the obscure things that most people don’t look at twice. Thank you for the insight that you have so far. All our actions have consequences…some good and some bad. Some immediate and some far reaching. I’m going to have to look into it more as well. Ali-I started with Jen’s Genesis and Exodus studies over almost 2 years ago and I’m still studying Genesis! There are so many rabbit holes…I started learning Hebrew to further understand the original meaning which has evolved into also learning the Paleo-Hebrew with even deeper meaning. Thanks ladies! I love listening to you both…I feel like I’m listening to my girlfriends ❤

Great interview! Lysa helped me so much when I was going through a divorce after being in a very toxic marriage. Living as a single mom now, and praying that God will carry me through the loneliness and challenge of being a single mom. It’s encouraging to see how God has blessed Lysa after the trials she faced.

Loved the vulnerability in this conversation. Body language wise-I do find it concerning that throughout this entire episode Chaz didn't touch Lisa once. She opened up about a lot of hard things and even rested her hand on his knee for affirmation and comfort but his hands stayed clasped the entire episode.

Glad I found your podcast a few months ago. We make a Thursday night service at 1122 when we come in from Oklahoma to visit our son. Pastor Britt is just a wealth of knowledge. As a 55 year old restaurant owner who now uses his platform to share the gospel with others, it was great to hear his wisdom on leadership, along with developing a balance and rhythm for the season you’re in. And as a former DJ in my days of sinning, I can appreciate his 90’s hip hop hot take. Keep up the good work with the podcast.

I'm listening to Lysa's current book right now. I was listening in the shower and had to get out to confront some of the questions she asks in chapter 6. Just watching this and thinking about her book brings me to tears. I need to go buy the paper version. I love to see how God is using Lysa to bless so many and how He blessed her with a good, handsome husband!

I just have to say that yes, a girl loves to be pursued!, however.. I was 37 years old, never married, when a guy from church started to pursue me and it was nothing I had ever experienced. After our first coffee date, he was very interested and I held off giving him my phone number for a couple months but he was always messaging me and complimenting me and wanted to see me every chance he got. Then I gave him my phone number and he was always calling me and the longer we dated I mean he was with me every chance he got. Every day off he was by my side. He was never on his phone with me, I always had his attention. We married within 9 months and things almost immediately changed. He was on his phone a lot… he really stopped complimenting privately and only did it publicly on FB. His attention was everywhere, and he started becoming critical of me. All of this to say, we are now going through divorce proceedings after 7 years of marriage. I bring this up to ask for advice on future relationships. I love to be pursued, but I was pursued before and it felt amazing until it didn’t. Now when I hear this about Chaz flying to see Lysa for a coffee date, I’m thinking is/was it real? Because I experienced someone wanting to see me, be with me every chance he got, had me on the phone all the time and then once we were married I got a completely different person. How can I know what’s real going forward?

It is impossible to have a perfect home, but I have found that if my house isn’t at least “picked up”, I can’t relax and be present. This has brought me to simplifying the “material” part of my world by having less which helps keep my world more “picked up”. People think the house is clean but really it is just not cluttered. Thank you for your honesty!

This was very encouraging. My divorce was final in 22, after 46 years of marriage & 8 children. Discovered my husbands porn addiction in 20, that had started when he was a teen. I still didn’t want a divorce but he had walked away from me as his wife years earlier & walking away from the marriage was easy for him. I would love to have a real marriage & be loved & cherished, but I’m afraid to trust. I’ve put it in God’s hands & asked that He not bring anyone around till I’m healed & in His time. At 67, if I don’t marry, that’s ok too. Thanks for this message!

This sounds identical to my story! I had to work on understanding sex addiction to be able to heal and forgive my exhusband. Their brains are wired using the same pathways as any addiction. Lysa's book "Forgiving What You Can't Forget" was therapeutic for me because she describes the same emotions that I was feeling. Feed your soul with the word of God! Read His word every day and He will lead the journey we did not choose to be on. God bless.

Ali, I loved this podcast!! I think it was so good, well-balanced hearing from Chaz, who all of us years-deed lovers of Lysa, were curious about. He won me over with his undeniable, underlying JOY, and the genuine tenderness in his responses and their shared bond. This inverview not only gave background for Chaz's story, but gave me pure joy seeing that God has done great things in their lives. My story in the last 10+ yrs of my 30 yr marriage are unfortunately similar to Lysa's, so this has given me more hope that God will make beauty from ashes, despite my current desert phase. Thank you all for sharing. 🙌 Oh, I am doing the P31 bible study for I Want to Trust You, But I Don't. ❤ So good!
