Oklahoma's Black Gold aka(BOBO) is a four coming five year old gelding DOB(April 02, 2013) that I bought as a four month old colt. He is a registered and certified Rock Mountain Horse REG#(2013045094). Bobo has been trained by myself and under my instruction, his gait is true and he WILL NOT LOCK INTO A PACE! He would be great for someone looking for a very stout smaller horse (14.2 hands) that...

    Hello! Trotty gait is similar biomechanicaly with fox trot, as I can see. It is like “broken” trot

    I really enjoy your videos. I am new to the gaited world as my granddaughter has a little saddlebred 25 yr old horse she shows at 4H. I have learned a lot! We are in the process of looking for a new gaited horse for her. Any suggestions?

    We have a little thing when we do the " tölt" If the horse is in the right place ,you can pronounce " black and Decker" "black and Decker" Nice to see a rider in a correct position over the horse, right size saddle, and smooth still hands.. The worst thing is to watch those trail riders on to small horses, non fitting,saddles, and they are sitting like a sack of potatoes and keeping their balance by holding to the reins.....And the horses are way to small for some of them. This was very educating thanks!! Old rider...

    Also if you can understand, the gaited horse sounds more even. The cadence of footfalls isn’t swung

    • @ihavenoideawhatimdoingwith4240
      @ihavenoideawhatimdoingwith4240 Год назад

      This is NOT Big Lick. Big Lick has pads on the feet, chains, soring, etc. It causes extreme pain and the gait is VERY unnatural. What is shown here, is the natural racking gait of a TN Walker for saddleseat or TN Walker breed shows. Big Lick, an EXTREMELY abusive practice, should NOT be confused for a natural gait and a correct way to ride. I've seen people say Icelandic horses have Big Lick done to them when no, it's a natural gait. Do your research before you assume.

    • @lxsgoad

    Rode a gaited horse today for the 1st time. My teacher didn't warn me and I couldn't stop laughing. It's so different! I just wanted to say sometimes pacing is a sign of back pain because the spine doesn't have to flex as much. I know dogs often start pacing when their having back trouble. Wolves often do it naturally and my wolfdog seemed to prefer it to trotting.

    A gaited horse has 1 hoof on the ground at all times, creating a smooth movement. You can drink a cup of tea off a gaited horse as it's moving. You should be able to shoot straight as well. Not kidding. Gaited horses are amazing

    Really impressive video. My background is mostly with horses that walk trot canter gallop jump (and 'fancy prance' in the dressage ring ;). Your level of horsemanship is awesome. New sub. For years I have studied breed backgrounds, especially American breeds. Most all of our modern horse breeds go back to pacing horses and gaited horses. The Irish Hobby is considered the foundation for most of our breeds in America, from Thoroughbreds to Walking horses and everything in between.

    For a non English speaker this was quite confusing.. especially in the end with the measuring. I mean... Why do I need it always so complicated 😭😂😂 I would also count to ten, just because I have no idea what a hand and what inches are. You could tell me your horse is 15.1 and I would be like "Yeah, nice.. I have no idea how much that is" (I just looked it up, it's around 155 cm 😂)

    • @RubbingElbowsLLC
      @RubbingElbowsLLC 2 года назад

      The term hands for measuring horses has been used since ancient times, in many different cultures.

    • @junestanich7888
      @junestanich7888 2 месяца назад

      A hand is four inches, roughly the width of a hand from pinky joint to index finger joint on average, which is why they use 14.1 or .2 or .3 but nothing higher, as it then is another 4 inches and would be 15.0

    Props to this Video! It's really great. So I have not a lot experience in the American way of riding gaited horses, my experience comes from the Icelandic horse and the way they are ridden. With the American gaited horses I saw a lot that I absolutely disliked. Now this is one of the first videos I really liked and where I would say I learned something. You can use it also on the Icelandic horse and the videos of the horses in comparison are amazing to learn the sound of a pacey horse. Will definitely watch more of your videos

    Funny 😁 I love horses but not a member - funny I do know most. Didn't know the hand thing fractions. Truth never thought important having only heard xx.5 😁 🤔 Wonder if anything like dogs? I had a Dobie 1/4" under max height. Won every ConFORMation class entered but the (previous) owner/handler sweated it each time, sooo close. 😎

    Trotting,racking,pacing,walking,canter,gallop, single, but the way I grew up if they ant racking you ant doing it right pacing is a no no but if a horse will trot fast the will rack fast a lot of people like pacers especially the fast Standardbreds but I’ve bought trotter Standardbreds that raced with buggies that would rack a hole in the ground but it’s all up to preference

    When a horse is born, can you tell if it’s going to be gated or normal??…I would call a gaited horse very similar to watching a cat!!…a swingy gate is like a sulky racer…correct??
