Originally as a place to put vids for eBay, I decided to add some How To footage and part explanations.
Expect more soon, as well as improved production quality, still figuring that out.
Some of what I have, I filmed a couple years back, so it is what it is, but hopefully something in that content is useful to you.

The MOST Painful Job on a Ford 5.4 3V...And it's not the timing chains!
Not the timing chain? Nope, its getting the brake booster hose back on the manifold.
Why do I say it is the most painful? One, you'll likely find you need to do it just when you think the timing chain job is all done and your rig doesn't idle right. Two, the go to option you're told is to pull the intake manifold until you can reach it. Three, well the method I outline, no room to show it on camera, will have your arm and hand get a few scrapes and cuts...
I got a pretty decent scratch along my arm getting it in place this way, so be warned, I am not responsible if you get an owie. You can always spend an hour or so pulling the intake instead.
Only a few tools needed:
Flashlight
O2 Socket

Changing Crankshaft Sensor on 2006-2012 Nissan Sentra MR20DE 2.0 Engine P0335
Просмотров 17 тыс.2 года назад
A simple job, but you do need to get under the car This is one potential cause of a no start or long crank to start condition I recommend buying the Nissan one if you don't have a preferred aftermarket brand: Nissan part: 23731T Time: ~15 minutes or less (longer if you don't have everything ready) Tools: 8mm 1/4" drive socket I prefer deep for the added extension 10mm 1/4" drive socket short ex...
Ford 5.4 Triton Valve Cover removal & installation made easy (well, easier)
Просмотров 44 тыс.2 года назад
Some people would say "sell and avoid it" It really isn't too bad, if you look at it as a puzzle. I couldn't film actually doing it, you need both hands free and I don't have a camera operator, but I do talk through with hand gestures how to get the passenger one in and out. The drivers side is pretty easy to remove and reinstall. Two big items: 1. Twist your injector connections out of the way...
Trick to hold parts in place
Просмотров 82 года назад
I needed a pulley to stay positioned just so while so I could mount the fan on a water pump. With little room to work, and no helper, what can you do? Do what I do in the video, a quick shot of spray adhesive. You can also do the same for other parts. With a bit of pressure and surface area, a lot of parts will stay put well enough to get the job done with limited hassle.
Changing Ford Valve Cover Bolt Grommets

Easier than you think once your realize you're throwing the old grommets away...Think... Cut the old off, Push the new on It helps to use a simple tool you probably have, a 13mm deep socket, though others may work, and some lube...I kept out the jokes to keep it family friendly
Tips for doing engine bay work on your Ford F150 5.4
Просмотров 692 года назад
A few things I figured I'd pass along after doing the timing chains, tensioner, rockers, & lash adjuster/rockers on my 2005 F150 5.4 last year. It is a bit of a job, taking a couple hours a day over the course of a week. I'd say it was a solid days worth of work, though I could do it much quicker if I had just done a few things I avoided up front. Kudos to FordTechMakuloco for having great vids...
Jeep XJ Underhood listen March 13, 2022 #Shorts

Added some Rislone and most the ticks went away (or aren't as loud) after a drive back from town (~15 miles) Listening with a stethoscope, the clatter/tick/whatever is loudest when probing the exhaust on #2 and intake of #3. Loudest at idle or when coming back down to idle after revving. Sounds most like other piston slap vids, though sound remains even when warm. Opinions vary wildly about how...
I just did this today!! I used a screw driver taped to the hose line.. I used a borescope and was able to get it from the top. The screwdriver is still down there and strapped to the fuel line 😂
This video sucks. Nothing worse than a video that doesn't show each step
I can confirm that making the sound effect while removing and installing the valve cover reduces difficulty by a noticeable amount!
On an expedition I was able to install through top by removing throttle body, just enough room to push it back on
I did "Whooot, Whoooo" but it didn't work. 😥
😂😂
Hi My 2001 Ford Expedition 5.4L doesn't have the VCT SOLENOID Connectors on the top of my valve covers. But there is a hump in the valve cover frame that is on both ends where the VCT SOLENOID is on most 5.4 L ENGINES. Could my VCT SOLENOIDS be fully located under the valve covers? Where as I would have to remove both valve covers to see the solenoids and disconnect them as well? Thx
Is it possible to take it off with the vct selenoid in there? The screw on the selenoid is stripped so its a circle now and I cant get it out. Can you guys help find a way ro fix that?
yeah, i do it all the time, just way harder
Really wish all these guys working on the 5.4L V8 would mention what year truck they are working on. All the wire harnesses and tubing change from generation to generation.
30 seconds Makes a jumpy video that l can't smooth out
What year is the truck?
Saludo, necesito saber cómo van los colores de conector
Hold on Cowboy, what about "programmed or learned" sensors versus unprogrammed? What about reseting the code before starting, once the new ones are in?
Do I need to unplug the battery first?
You should anytime you'll be under a car just in case someone decides to start it up. even as a prank. I didn't when I did this one.
How come on my 04 Sentra it's on the top of the engine?
Different engine, different layout
I've been having this trouble too . Everybody says a different place?
Definitely not a 15. I did it on mine and it took 2 hours cause it’s such a tight spot
Using the tools I called out it isn't a 2 hour job. Using a wrench of if your have numb fingers or bear paw hands it might be. You do need to do most of it by feel (or with mirrors). I looked at the time stamps from when I filmed it: 12 minutes 27 seconds from start of filming until the last clip I filmed I ended, and that is with moving the camera and a couple retakes.
Omg finally someone that showed the passenger side. I will buy you lunch. It looks like a pita
What was the cause of the noise?
Never found out, sold it.
I recently had to perform this tack on a 2006 5.4l super duty, I did it from the top without removing anything but the coolant tank next to the break booster.
what is the part number for the brake booster vacuum hose? couldn't find it on the world wide web.
Will this cause codes for p0171 and p0174?
Very possible. I'd check the O2 sensor
Yes
Getting the valve cover in and out was fairly easy once i added sound effects. Thanks!
Haha 😆😂
They are a 'must'. It is either that your expanding your swear word vocabulary.
Thanks to your words of encouragement I avoided pulling the transmission or intake manifold to get that damn hose back on. It came off during a trans swap. To avoid all the cuts/scrapes you warned about I used a cheap pair of mechanics gloves, cutoff the finger tips so I could feel the hose and the manifold nipple, wrapped duct tape around my palm to protect my knuckles and taped the gloves to a sweatshirt sleeve. Got'er done with no injuries! Items removed / loosened up for access: Disconnected fuel line bracket at transfer case and fuel filter, cut off the plastic electrical harness keepers so the harness could be pulled back to gain clearance. Re-secured afterwards with tiewraps Removed the small bolt that secures the brake vacuum pipe to the left side cylinder head. With everything loose and floppy and using a skinny hand like mine and a helper pulling the harness and fuel lines back I was able to get my hand in there and slide the hose back on. I also put a little grease on the nipple. The hose spring clamp was still on but it slipped on ok as well. Thanks again.
Glad to hear you came through unscathed.
why would vdc and traction control lights come on after replacing this sensor? thanks
That light has nothing to do with your crankshaft sensor, vdc will come on predominantly for low break fluid, worn out break pads, uneven tire pressure or anything related to the stability of the car while in motion.
@@geniuswithacapitalk hey thanks for the comment, i stil have the car in the driveway. got the lights to go off finally but i'll be working on it again once the weather is nicer so hopefully this will help. i think i had a shop put in another crankshaft sensor but honestly can't remember. thanks for getting back to me
lol, if only it was this easy. what a fucking pain in the ass. thanks for the video, it helped a lot. just wish you would have explained how you got the cable off
thank you good job

There is a longer vid on the channel that shows how to a bit better.
"GIVE THIS MAN A BEER!"(Stone Cold voice) 🍺
Wish I could tell better from this video. I’m doing roller followers and while doing the last one closest to the firewall, I noticed that brake booster line feeling much more forgiving than it was the entire job, and I just hope it didn’t come off back there… I can’t see it for the life of me to tell for sure.
For future readers of comments: if the engine surges - runs really low RPM then spikes up or conks out, the hose likely got loose. You might be able to hear the vacuum leak, maybe. Or risk it and pull it off the booster and check for vacuum, BUT then that may cause to come off the manifold when you put it back. No easy way.
Need to know how to get the wires in order... my connector broken
This is perfect thank you finally got my first car been walking around town for the last 6 year's
Congrats on the car Dandre.
Rip
I TELL YOU WHATS WRONG WITH IT IT AINT GOT NO GAS IN IT
Timing chane is loose u hear the slap sound and also the valves need adjusted
