Save the rust

Follow me on my journey of finding ,riding, restoring old motorcycles, tech tips and exploring life on two wheels. I have been building and collecting vintage bikes and local motorcycle memorabilia for 30 years. I build bikes from the frame up and rarely starting with anything more than a frame and few pieces. I don’t sell my bikes or parts. After building them from nothing to a running bike it’s hard to part with them.

What a lesson in engine engineering/building. Mind blown. Very interesting episode.
@@jeremyblazetattoo these guys are the real deal. they know what works and are going to crush the current record this year.
The secret to getting these projects done...is at least one,,,...or two sessions a week... even when you really don't want to punch the clock.. Spring is around the corner.... Eh 😎
spring is coming fast . the harley will be done for spring . the norton will be done when it's done . But once i get the powdercoating back it'll progress once again.
🤣🤙❤️🙏👏🏻
Great video ! Hoping to see a follow up video with a new Bonneville speed record later this year.
i'd like to do one on the build prior to bonneville and after for sure .

i had a lot of fun doing the video and learnt a lot as well. these guys are the real deal and only a few hours from my place. i have to find the video i took of them starting a 45 for me 2 summers ago. the sounds was insane .
@Savetherust the sound would be amazing
That last truck freestyling was the only thing worth watching. He was actually stepping on the throttle and doing things that was worthwhile and decently entertaining.

NOT Monster JAM, they have not been there for years.
@@donfrankish2855 your right. the ticket said Ram motor sports spectacular. no one would recognize it if i listed is as such.
oh i see. So that wasnt Monster Jam hey. Yea i think Monster no longer goes to smaller venues like this because of lack of fan attendance. I had no idea there even such a thing as some sort of "league" that isnt monster jam. I thought as far as monster trucks Monster Jam was the end all be all.
@ it would be so much better outside in some small town festival where they have the room to open them up

have you thought about grinding the head bolt down a thou. GREAT WORK HAPPY WRENCHING
@@donrice8026 i'm debating on what to do . with the clamp on the frame it's holding pretty well and the throttle responds well. i should make a new clamp that's angled and closer to the head bolt . one that would direct the cable towards the carb .
I got a pair of 45's in the stable.... my military trimmed Wla isn't a 100 point unit.... When I first posted photos on the Wla-Wlc f/book site I had several people point out.. this and that... one was I had the wrong choke lever on the Wla.... We're all familiar with " nose art " found on many Warbirds... fighter's..bomber... but nose art was also found on tanks.. Jeeps.... and WWII Harley's... I added nose art to my fender mounted ammo box. .. again, others had... issues... My point is..like you... it's fitted out as I like it... it looks great... and 99.999999 % of people don't know.. or care.. I got the wrong choke lever... 😎

Clear silicone will probably hold that bulb retainer in nicely and its less permanent than epoxy. The nail is a good idea , drill the hole slightly smaller and retain it with CA glue.
@@anthonyiannone7618 that's the plan. silicone may actually last longer since it won't crack from bouncing along the highway like epoxy . cheers
Hi Keith When i put the rivets on my floor boards i made a simple tool . I took a piece of 3/16 flat stock about 1/2" wide , 5" long and drilled 2 holes side by side width wise close to the end. Then i cut off the flat stock just below the center of the two holes and what i was left with was just half circles at the bottom. If you use that to drive the rivets from the back side it will curve the split part of the rivets over very nicely. I couldnt believe how good it worked. You can experiment with the hole size and adjust it with a file until your happy with the results. Also you can get split rivets cheap online the same dimension as the ones needed for the bike. I think i got them on ebay Hopefully you can understand my explanation , i can send you a picture if not

Hi ,I have been working on Tiger Cub Engines for 25 years that blow out on the back of the gear box is very common on Tiger Cubs. The reason it happens is because those tread holes where the case screws screw in over the years get filled up with jointing compound and when you put the case screw in it will hydraulics the compound and that is what causes the cracking in the case it has nothing to do with any other parts in the gear box. You will need to check all the houseings where the case screws fit because it is very common to see splits down the sides on them on Tiger Cubs. The screw you was tried in to remove which holds the end of the kick start spring should be left in place as a stop plate on the other side of it and no need to be removed. Hope this helps you out Steve from England
thanks!! appreciate the advice i will definitely follow your advice cheers
Maybe issued, looks never mounted?
