The Dog Got Out! How to Puppy Proof the Chain-Link Fence
Video shows how I strengthened our chainlink fence after our dog got out. We live close to a highway and her safety is a big concern.
There are no gaps between the house or at the fence corners large enough for her to fit through.
There are only two ways that I think she can get out of our locked backyard fence:
1. Jump over the fence. Unlikely, but not impossible.
2. Crawl under the fence. Very likely, considering that the 20 year old fence has a lot of movement at the ground in a couple of places.
When this video was posted, she has not gotten out again.

How to Make a Healthier: Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich
Thank you for this tip now i don't have to call a plumber. The only thing is mine didn't have that white plastic insert so i didn't need a flathead screwdriver. I must have a cheap one because the plastic around the plug broke off and it's only 2 years old. Now I need to replace the showerhead because something broke inside i heard a loud clunk and the water doesn't come out like it used to.
You are welcome Thanks for watching Good luck fixing the shower
Right on….you just confirmed my thinking.
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video. I know a lot more now after watching it It doesn't look as thought you're cleaning the trap at all. Is there any way to run a hand held snake down th drain as well ?
Actually, most of the hair clog is right there. Once the hair there is removed, the drain works perfectly!
Aesthetics vs function looks better with louvers facing upwards concealing inside of wall, functions better with louvers facing downward drawing in air that rises
Possibly…. Since the air is not blowing through the louvers, the direction of the louvers doesn’t affect that. It could be argued that the louvers might “scoop” some of the rising air, but the vent will be pulling air in and the direction of the louver is irrelevant going into the return as it is drawn through the duct.
So, I loved the video! Super easy, however, when I unscrewed the plastic screw, it broke off the top housing and left the remainder of the plastic screw and bottom plastic of the housing. I tried to twist it off with pliers but it is not budging. Thoughts?
So the plastic screw is broken off in the threads of the metal drain? If this is the case, you can carefully drill a hole into the plastic so that it does not cut into the threads. A small screwdriver working the hole will get it to break out, but it probably will be time consuming
A replacement pop up should be available at most home centers. Good luck!
@@jefffrantz1893 yes, the plastic screw head, just the top broke off. Thanks, I will def try the drill. I already broke the housing around it so there was a better grip.

I measured the circumference of each of the four sections so I could mark each one half way around and get each 180-degree rotation exactly right. But when I put the finished elbow against a square, it's a few degrees off from 90 degrees. Turning each section a little more or less made it worse. How accurate should the 90-degree elbow be ? You did not put your elbow against a square to confirm it's really 90 degrees, instead of something close.
The elbow is able to adjust to the full 90 degrees when it is inserted into another section of pipe in the “sloop” of the connection. Typically you would want to stay away from using full 90 degree turns because it will choke down the air flow. Two 45 degree turns using two elbows is better than a 90, but there is not usually space to make that happen.
Thanks for solving a debate...
You are welcome! Thanks for watching!! Gotta know, who won?
Thank you very much for sharing the technique. I was not sure how to do it and your video helped a lot.

Rough when the gores are crusty and full of debris
True dat! Sounds like it is time for some new metal Thanks for watching!
I want my air vents to face out towards the center of the room so I can feel the air. Why would I want it blowing at the wall? My room is hot
The cold air returns on the wall do not blow air into the room. They are the vents that take warmer air in the summer back to the furnace to be cooled by the air conditioner. They are also the vents in the winter that take the cooler air back to the furnace to be heated by the furnace. The louvers on the cold air return vent are there to allow air to be sucked in to go to back to the furnace and to cover the space in the wall behind it.
Beautiful. How did you get the black specs on the stripes like that. Sorry I’m new

Once I take off the silver cap, I can't get the screw to move. WD40 didn't work. What else can I use to get the screw of budge.
Most times, a wide blade screwdriver works well to turn the plastic screw without damaging it. You will hear a little pop when it breaks loose. Just make sure you are turning it the correct direction.
I'll try that, but the screw is gold bolt, not plastic. Thank you
The screw out part isn’t working
Sometimes a wider screwdriver helps.
You got any tips for a dryer duct that goes into the floor but needs to make a 45 degree turn to a 90 degree turn within a few inches? The dryer hose exits to the floor but the wall exhaust hole under the house is at a 45 degree angle directly below the floor… very limited space. There is a mesh grate that would be almost perfect for the duct work to go through but copper pipes are coming through it… Will the heat from the dryer mess with the copper pipes. Previously they snaked the flimsy dryer hose through… but I don’t know how they fit it through the hole in the floor without ripping the hose… not sure what was done before that as I had no clue it was disconnected until the termite guy told me.
Modern dryer duct is made from aluminum or plastic to resist rusting with the warm, damp air that is blown through it. I would avoid routing the dryer exhaust past anything that would potentially cause a dryer lint buildup. That being said, I have a couple ideas; 1. Reroute the duct directly through the exterior wall behind the dryer. 2. Reroute the duct into the floor and have it make a loop so that it can go through the floor rim board straight. The International Residential Code (IRC) is available to view for free at iccsafe.org. Chapter 15 discusses how long a dryer vent can be and how much each turn/bend subtracts from the total length allowed in Table M1502.4.5.1 I hope this helps!!

I cannot get the screw loose. Tried everything. Can I cut the plastic piece to get a better grip on the top of the screw?
Make sure you are turning it the right direction. I wouldn’t recommend cutting the plastic, but you can….
@@jefffrantz1893 I’ve tried both ways. I’ve tried pb blaster, pipe wrench, hammer and chisel, drill. Literally everything. It won’t budge.
For those who can’t get past step one because their silver top is extremely tight doesn’t come off(mine spun the entire component), I had to hold the “stem” in place with pliers while I twisted the top off counter clockwise. It was a tight squeeze to get my pliers in there so it gripped some of the rubber as well. Not sure if that made a difference. Hope you have better luck with step 2. I’m stuck here right now since I don’t have the wide screwdriver 😆
Good suggestion
I thought mine was super tight when I tried barehanded, but I found it actually twisted really easily when I put on rubber gloves 😂
thank you for this

Nice touch with the highlighting.i wouldn't have thought of that. How many cans of paint did you use? I managed to salvage a very similar bench a few months ago.
Thanks! I’m trying to remember how many cans… I think it was 1 can of primer and 1 can of paint???
Have the same drain cover and I can't get that silver top piece off
Try lifting up on the black rubber as you twist the cap off. Sometimes the cap and the pop up assembly will spin together and lifting up on the black rubber gasket usually works.
Mine was on extremely tight so it was twisting the entire component and not just the top. I had to hold the “stem” of the drain in place with pliers while I twisted off the top counter clockwise
OMG thank you so much for this! So helpful!

Always have a wet rag around when painting. It will come right off.
True, if it is a water based paint. Sometimes wiping with a wet rag will get some of the paint into open grains of the trim
I’ve tried with all my might to turn that at step one and won’t budge. Any suggestions?
Make sure you are turning it the right direction. If that is not it, a little gentle persuasion with a pair of channel locks over a rag can break it loose.
Mine was so tight I had to grip the stem of the entire thing with pliers and then twist off counter clockwise. That worked well for me!
Thanks!

I am having an issue with unscrewing internal brass screw. any tips?
Sometimes brass screws will seize. Position the screwdriver back on the screw like you had it to unscrew the screw. Gently tap the top of the screwdriver with a hammer and try removing the screw again.
@@jefffrantz1893The top of my push-style plug WILL NOT TURN. I’m afraid if I put some channel locking pliers on it I will snap something off. Is it possible it has a set screw underneath too? Or should I just grab & turn? Many thanks in advance.
There should not be a set screw….
I’ve tried and try it I can’t get it to unscrew
Do you have a wide blade screwdriver?
I had no clue that I needed a flat head to remove the plug. LOL This was very helpful. Thanks!
Happy to help. Thanks for watching!
Except why do hvac folks put them the other way ? This can be filed with plug receptacles and toilet paper rolls.
Most HVAC companies situate them so they hide the vent behind them.
Thank you so much!! This vid help me a lot!!
