This is like going to Leicester Square and thinking you experienced London. Cricklewood pubs would describe a different world. Or Colindale, or Catford. Get on a bus to the fringes. With love.
yes it is a big city in the next video you can see a bit more of it ,In my 8 months travel in Morocco I have previously been all over Marrakech but in this video I am just passing through on my way to hike in the riff mountains where I am now ,new video coming soon thanks for commenting

You must be missing this…the peace…the serenity…the clean air
ha ha yes
1977 ; only "dahl and rice" was available at the shack I used to eat no chapati either, but processed cheese in big blue tins. The evening I crossed the bridge, coming up from Naggar, the scene was surreal: among the hot vapour whirls was a group of German folks playing tapes on a battery taperecorder "Autobahn" from Kraftwerk and in the middle was Shankar Baba lightnin a silver chillum
sounds so nice what a great memory ,the place is still magical ,the river is still amazing ,alot less european travellers now and mostly just indian tourists but the magic is still to be found
Good jungle mal from there in the old days, 10 rupes a tola, when there were 20 rupes to the pound
2000-10000 rupe per tola now bahee India is quickly becoming expensive man
I used to live in the village of Kasol in the Parvati Valley, in the days when the tarmac ended in Jari and the village had no guest houses, restaurants or motor cars . . . Look at it now ! Unrecognisable . . . There is a lot less snow on the peaks these days . . .
Agreed I avoid kasol completly now ,I was there 20 years ago and it was comercialised even then but now its very strange ,I went to jari to hike 5 hours up to malana 20 years ago now I hear there is a road and full of tourists ,I heard about the little known malana village back then from an older friend who had been to parvati in the 90s now its a popular attraction and world famous
@@Theartistfarmer I nearly broke my neck when I walked up to Malana from Jari in 1976 ! Never did it again.
@@Theartistfarmer I nearly broke my neck walking up to Malana from Jari in 1976, never did it again . . .
whoops
Not many ladies wearing the traditional dress anymore . . . . apart from those selling stuff to tourists. You never saw masala dosas there in the 1970's and early 1980's, they have been introduced for the benefit of Indian tourists. The dosas were great at the Indian Coffee House in Mohan Singh Place in Delhi, but they were nothing to what I ate in Madras . . . .
yes very popular every place now masala doas ,I can eat it everyday no worries ha ha , but yes its a tourist thing ,vashist has the ladies in trad dress for the tourists they also carry large rabbits now and charge to take a photo with them its kind of surreal ,yes india has changed man alot ,Indian people have money now its unbelievable ,even they say that its unbelievable how the indian econemy has bloomed , its not like years ago now I discovered on my return ,I am happy for my indian brothers man and was happy despite the changes to find the same old spirit is there in the people just not in the same old places I believe this
@@Theartistfarmer It's all happened in one generation and like you, I'm really happy that the people of Kasol now enjoy a quality of life comparable to mine. I've been in touch with many of the people that I photographed in 1985, but had known for ten years . . Nice . . .
@@rupertsimmington4143 yes its crazy fast how fast the economy has grown ,I think it will benefit the human race on a whole eventually

What is the name of this village?
@@Emy53 penamacor
i believe the the Capela de São Domingo is named for 'St Dominic', not 'Sunday' :) - 'Domingo' is the Spanish spelling (Portuguese: São Domingos), thus the confusion; perhaps because he was Castilian and you are so near the border? boa viagem!
@@winstonchou2435 "dominio" is Dominic in Portuguese ,"capella de sao domingos" is the name of the chapel
Wicked, this sort of reminds me of guimereas a little bit too! Love the portugese medieval vibes 💙🤍

Happy dogz :) thanks for sharing.
they are very friendly and seem to have no fear of humans ,you see how they lay on the paths ,I think this says alot about the indians over time the dogs learned this behaviour , rarely are the dogs aggressive much like the indian people ,I have seen groups of eagles in the cities without fear they too over time must have learned not to fear humans I think it is beautiful and speaks volumes about India
Oh man, busy busy busy. I went there once and it was even during a festival, I had a hell of a time finding a hotel 🏨 Was probably a great destination in its time. I think since the pandemic the domestic tourism has increased dramatically I saw that the last couple of times I’ve been to India and I think it’s due to the rise of the middle class in India 🇮🇳 more and more people can afford to travel. Which in a way is good so at least Indians can enjoy their own country. Delhi another chaos - but some hidden gems there! I hope you are going somewhere nice and peaceful after this madness! I’m sure you will find your way. ☮️ 🕉️ Bom Bom Bhole!!!
@@Alexouli yes full tourism now in Manali ,it's exploded like many other places I don't enjoy the crowds I hear it is quieter in winter these days? ,yes 😔 on the road again my friend ,thanks for commenting a new video coming next week....
@@Theartistfarmer I don’t think it’s that much quieter in winter ❄️ maybe a little bit… Have you ever been to the Andaman Islands? Not sure how it is now, maybe monsoon one of the most amazing and special places in India (though technically half-way between India mainland and Thailand) 🇹🇭 they usually give you a 3 week permit which can be extended and the great thing is you can choose the island that suits your vibe - whether you want a more vibrant one, or much quieter one. I’ve been a few times always had a great time there, you can either get a flight or a boat there. Although flight is much easier. Anyway wherever you’re going, enjoy brother! I look forward to the next instalment! Jai Ho

Manali was where I first discovered the joys of Masala Dosa ❤ It's changed a lot, I don't recognise Vashisht any more
yes masala dosa breakfast luch and dinner no problem ha ha ,I agree I hardly recognised Vashist either like so many places in kulu and parvati , I try to show the good bits of the local culture as more change is still to come for himachals growing tourist industry and although its harder to find ,the magic is still there.
Looks like a great place to visit and chilled vibes. Glad you finally found a coffee ☕️ would love to try a tandoori coffee one day - I saw it in the menu etched in the wall where you had the dosa. One of the best video outros ever! Namastayyyyyyyyyy - looking forward to the next adventure ☮️
Yes tandoori sounds delicious, thank you new video coming soon
Really loving your free spirited videos. 🥂 Himachal has a lot more to offer, hope you can see it all.
Thank you
New video coming soon
Another comment I wanted to make is that I really love your camera work, it is really like seeing through your eyes and that you have an artistic sensibility and sometimes linger on beauty and interesting features. Also loves the little cameo dance music videos! Oh man I remember there was a wonderful oasis in `Kathmandu called garden of dreams near the kings palace that was this beautifully maintained garden behind closed walls and I think they served Dutch food in a cafe there too. You had to pay to enter but it was really magical as you got away from all the chaos and could enjoy some peaceful moments while delighting in the sculpted garden.
So glad you enjoyed,I am an artist so I approach most things artistical thank you for your appreciation,I didn't get to that garden you mention next time I will check it out thanks for the tip ,a new video coming this week I think you will also enjoy keep a look out for it 😁
@@Theartistfarmer I went for a month last year which was wonderful. But I really miss the days in my early 20s when I used to go for 6 months at a stretch and be fully immersed. One day, one day!
@@Alexouli yes I agree these places need time to settle into and time to unwind from the west also ,6 months is a good amount of time but one must always prepare to come back a slightly different person after such a time in these special cultures ,hope you get back there soon
@@Theartistfarmer thanks 🙏 yes, it allows time to decompress and find a new rhythm. When I was travelling albeit in a time before smartphones, I didn’t even know what day of the week it was and I didn’t care, I just entered into a totally different flow which became more to do with being in nature and being around different groups of people, or sometimes alone. I lived in a village in kerala for a few months totally off the tourist trail, I have lived for months at a time also in Dharamsala, Varanasi, and had extended stays in the Andaman Islands, Sikkim. Yes, absolutely agree that you come back as a different person. It is an opportunity to explore our depth and enter new realms of relaxation and experience away from the normal day-to-day stresses (for the most part). Deep love for travel and so grateful I had around 5 years of non-stop travel including 2 years endless summer ☀️
@@Alexouli yes so to travel for an extended period anyone would feel a big change in themselves after that ,sounds like you really covered some ground ,yes I also love that feeling if not caring what day of the week it is free a bird a priceless feeling
Love your sense of humour now I know that the subtitles are fictional 😂 spot on with the Big boss lady! I remember when I was travelling yes sometimes hard to find a cheap and clean room, not always mutually exclusive, but quite often. Kathmandu and Nepal in general are one of my favourite places. Getting into the more remote places is really magical and peaceful. Hope to return there some day!
Yes the subtitles are a little bit of fun 😊 yes Kathmandu was a bit tricky to find a nice room but I enjoyed the city I think I was just there at the wrong time of year and was also very keen to get to I dia ,I will return also one day and explore
