I always used to go to Chirk when the River Dee was too high to fish. Always had good sport there. Been fly fishing since I was 7 yrs old, been out the sport for quite a few years now. (Due to sea fishing) But an older cousin wanted to try fly fishing, so I've taken him under my wing, and taught him - with mixed results. Forgot about Chirk until you vid, so I know where I'm taking him next - thank you! (I'm in my 50's and he's in 60's now) Keep the vids coming....

the lake is located high in the mountains. far from the main road. many people go there for walks, camping in tents and of course to swim. this lake belongs to the hoylake associations. if you are asking about fishing.🎣

this place closes for the summer when it's hot and opens in autumn until spring or summer.

thank you very much. Fiend was fishing for trout for the 3 time in his life and this was his first caught on a dry fly. in the place where he caught the conditions were perfect.Good luck on the river Way. 👍🏻🎣

@@Na-Muche I prefer wild fish, but yes it's nice and the trout fight very hard and good dryfly fishing. That brown trout caught was highly likely to be stocked ( they started stocking them last year ) although there the occasional wild trout in there, but very rarely caught.

Yes. The fish there fight bravely. Brown trout from this place is like catching a unicorn.🦄 very rare fish 👍🏻🎣

​@@Na-MucheBrenig fish fight as hard as seatrout in my opinion. There is no other stocked fish that will fight harder. You need minimum of 8 pound tippet even dryly as any less and you will have break offs

@@Na-Muche No problem. It is waste of time fishing there in daytime when sunny and calm. You would think no fish. But at dusk fish will start to rise. Or go when windy, dull weather with wet fly and lures, and then fish feed well close in. Sunny still day, they stay out in deeper water on bottom. There is big wild trout in there like 5 or so pounds 👍

Tried last summer trees had fallen into most of the good pools very sad. 😔

@@Na-Muche A good flood will bring down trees and more inportantly clean the bottom of the river. It used to be that after a good flood and with the river fining down and clearing, it was the best time to fish. I do remember my best night ever. around 2008 I fished a small pool at night and caught fish after fish after fish, on the fly. It was a big run on that tide that evening and they rested as they entered the pool and quickly settled. In my last three years of fishing the Towey I caught only two sea trout and one Salmon. All the local boys were complaining of the trawling and the slurry being washed off the fields into the river, with the farmers spreading the slurry on their fields just before heavy rainfall. A deliberate act to get rid of slurry. Very few fish being caught and it killed most clubs.

it is still worth visiting this river because it is beautiful. I can only imagine what river looks like it in past years. 👍🏻🎣

Obejrzałem do końca, John nieźle bajeruje 😂 Łososie i duże trocie w Dee to jak Nessie z Loch Ness. Niestety w walijskich rzekach a w Dee w szczególności z wielu przyczyn, liczba ryb migrujących dramatycznie zmalała. Nadzieja w projekcie LIFE Dee River project, który ma na celu przywrócenie górnego biegu rzeki do jej naturalnego stanu, naprawę i ochronę tarlisk łososia i troci. Dlatego trzymamy kciuki. Od wczesnej jesieni aż do końca zimy polecam okolice Corwen z nimfą na lipienie.

Łowiłem na tej rzece pierwszy raz. Bardzo chciałem zobaczyć ten odcinek rzeki. Teraz już wiem czego się można spodziewać. Liczyłem na pstrągi ale z tego co widziałem to bardziej lipienie. Dzięki za info. Całkowicie wyleciało mi z głowy że lipienie dopiero od czerwca. 👍🏻 Ps. John’s nazywają charming John. 😝

Er...salmon?...in which case I caught two Nessies in 2023...and of course let these unicorns swim away Yes it has been getting hard and disappointing and sad... Its been more than a few years since I caught 3 in a day... There is always hope patience safe wading as one carefully swings an Allys shrimp or Stinchar stoat across the stream Simon Artley Manchester
