IMAX 15/70 film cameras on Steadicam
Clip from The Dark Knight (2008) Blu-ray bonus content showing an IMAX 15/70 film camera flown on Steadicam. I also included the final Steadicam 1.43:1 shots at the end.
I believe the IMAX MSM 9802 model camera was used here. Similar IMAX Steadicam setups have also been used in The Dark Knight Rises and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Sounds of IMAX 15/70 film cameras rolling in Nope (2022)
Просмотров 636 тыс.Год назад
I've cut together some more IMAX 15/70 film camera sound footage, this time from the B-roll of Nope (2022), after the positive response to my first video (ruclips.net/video/L27a851-RxY/видео.html). These clips show the loud noise produced by IMAX 15/70 film cameras when rolling. Loud sound of IMAX 15/70 film cameras rolling

Various clips showing the loud noise produced by IMAX 15/70 film cameras when rolling; sourced from "No Time to Die" and "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire". I believe the IMAX MSM 9802 model camera was used in all these clips - a detailed video of the loading and running of a similar camera (MSM 9801) can be found here: ruclips.net/video/us1x9CFOZrg/видео.html Video sources: - ruclips.net/video/...
Omg I went though the set for nope on the universal tour
Movie name ?
The pressure to not screw up when shooting of IMAX film must be intense: 1. IMAX film is around $2000 per minute 2. You only have 3 minutes of film 3. Reloading the camera takes time and messing up means using more film - requiring more reloads (and money)
Fun fact: The scene in Interstellar when Murph throws the the papers and yells "Eureka!" You can hear the IMAX camera running in the background. But it's difficult to hear since it blends in with the construction work happening on-screen.
How do they deal with this in post? Overdubs or directional mics?
I couldn't concentrate with that racket going on.
Poor horse be like "I hate my damn life..." lmao 🐎
So do the actors and crew near the camera have hearing problems after months of filming with this thing?
That’s the sound of $2000 per minute
They should really design a good sound proofing case for these
I wanna be in actor
i think 35mm is enoguh XD
As câmeras possuem um motor a diesel para o funcionamento
Back in the early 2000's when Cineplex Odeons started including IMAX projections in their theaters, I started training to run these projections. They sound exactly like this and require ear plugs if you're right next to them.
now i see why mr nolan decided to not use adr/looping in his films
Nobody I. These comments know how a film camera works wow
Nobody I. These comments know how a film camera works wow
Blackmagic design is literally about to kill all that noise! 😅😅😅
funny that all of those shots couldve been done on a tripod
m m m m m m money
Havent they figured out an effective blimb for the camera?
Man, that must've been a nightmare for the sound crew.
That loud IMAX camera noise is such a huge turn on.
I can see the $ symbols floating up out of it!
Tienen que arreglar ese pedo
Now imagine having to act during an emotional scene with a lot of crying. Or being in that small conference room where the trail was in in "Oppenheimer". HOLY FUCK DOES THAT HAVE TO BE ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to Nolan who glorified it.
I wonder if someone has developed an "IMAX CAM Noise Cancel" algorithm or something.
that guy at 0:45 winking Ana... Damn how we all wish we were him...
How do they manage to record the actors dialogue around it?
No more film cameras now its all digital cameras film cameras are obsolite
not imax film cameras, way better than any digital camera because of the complexion of the large format film. Imax film is supposed to hold theoretically 18k resolution, and imax 70mm film is projected at a very large screen, making it the most immersive theater experience and the highest imaging format out there.
funny enough, film productions still going strong, specially IMAX, digital is the new norm but film has become a sort of premium that people ARE interested in consuming.
how do they record dialogue?
How do you record sound in such environment?
So how do they get decent audio or do they just plan to adr everything?
Make a movie
Why they still use this old shit
Because in a nut shell - It's better than this digital shit.
@@GreatGizmo74 Please tell me the advantages of it
@@TitanAceKomp Higher quality than digital, better archive advantages than digital, better HDR than digital, can be resized without loosing quality unlike digital (Not inc. RAW file types.)
@@GreatGizmo74 how they add CGI stuffs on flim
“IM PlayIng ZoMbiE toOO”
🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
Hate to be that guy, but that's actually the sound of 15 perf 65mm ;) it's later upscaled to 15/70 for projection.
Retakes must really hurt.
And this is why Foley and ADR exist
sounds like a diesel van idling
So that's what $16 a second sounds like
The sound engineer learning they're gonna film in Imax 😥
How do we not hear all that in the final film?
They dub in post
And only small percentage of the viewers is able to watch them on a real IMAX cinema. What a waste of money.
What about archival? and when our digital scanning gets better and better you will be able to get more and more quality out of the film print because, in a nutshell, it's better than digital. It's not a waste of money - It's future-proofing.
Love the behind the scenes view.
Nolan couldn't film any dialogue on IMAX in The Dark Knight, that's why only MOS is filling the whole screen.
I shot in 16mm once and when it was time to show the clapperboard we used to shoot literally FRAMES so we wouldn´t waste any film. These guys are shooting in IMAX and man how much film is wasted before the action starts! (They have money, I know, but still...).
