I really like your interpretation of the piece, especially your variations in tempo - in fact for many passages I like your way of playing them better than some of the famous pianists. (Except of course Alicia de Larrocha. She is a god and can do no wrong! :) )

100 years ago today, on Feb. 12, 1924, George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue premiered. An American genius. Thank you for isolating this pure rendition of Gershwin actually playing Rhapsody in Blue, and as one commentator added, Gershwin is playing the full orchestra rendition on piano. 🎹

Oh! 7:55 to 9:37...😢 This song defines a few of the greatest time periods in history...the 1920s, '30s, and '40s... bygone eras that lives on through lovely pieces of music, like this...it is recalled once again through mine ears and it is sweet. Crafted in 1924, it hypened a gay and lavish time...later provided an America, bonding and gaining happiness from music, with mind- stimulantion and soul-lifting through a Depression. As if the compostion's popularity was over, in 1937 we lose the man who contributed to the world...from critics who mocked and ridiculed this work, it was the people from whom it was rapturously received...it was those people who mourned...those people who remembered. In 1945, the film, "Rhapsody In Blue" made its debut, with Paul Whiteman's lovely version of it, once agian reminding us not to forget. His time on this earth was spent much too soon, yet who are we to hold a dear hearted man, a mastermind, an angel? His impact, as far as I'm concerned, will live on forever!
