"Weird Al" Yankovic - Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (1978)
A recording so obscure it had completely passed me by until recently, massive props to CB_Johnny for adding this song into his extensive Weird Al discography. This is a snippet of a longer skit done to promote Al's college radio show, "The Weird Al Show", recorded on June 10, 1978. I'll probably getting around to uploading a lot of those radio promotions eventually.

This is one is a real oddity. This is, I think, Al's oldest radio ad which was promoting a show in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. According to Bermuda Schwartz, Al's drummer and official archivist, this is from 1981. If it is, then it's the oldest evidence of Al performing a live show outside of California. This show is a pretty important one for a couple reasons. Al's official website lists this as their first official live show, this is Al's first show with Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz, and it was his first major live show after graduating from Cal Poly. "Mr. Frump in the Iron Lung" is one of Al's oldest songs, and was his oldest song to make it onto an album. It was originally recorded in 1977 and may have been co-written by Vince Sanchez. This specific recording was made in December 1980 at Al's college and was released on his first EP, "Another One Rides the Bus" on February 1, 1981.

None of that happened. Al just thought it was too mean and decided not to put in on his album. Billy Joel just brushed it off as some nobody making fun of him, but then performed it live a few times as a sign of good humor. Quit making shit up.
