Johannes Vetter put on a demonstration of how to throw javelin at the 2021 version of European Throwing Cup in Split, Croatia. This was his second furthest throw of his series - a second round effort of 90.43m. He won the competition with a slightly further 91.12m.

Three different throws from Johannes Vetter's fantastic competition in Leiria, Portugal at the European Throwing Cup. Unfortunately his best throw of 92.70m was not captured but you can see from these videos the superb quality of his throwing. The throws were 88.28m, 84.29m and 82.70m. Enjoy!!

My dad was Rookie of the Year in 1976 in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association. He played for "The Champions". I got to see the USA as a 4 year-old from a bus filled with Vietnam Vets, Marlboro, Jack Daniels, and poker. They played a double with the Harlem Globetrotters! I was in the locker room puking and Meadowlark and Curly got me a towel and a 7-Up.

One of the best discussions of hammer implement and body positioning I've ever heard. I've o ly thrown twice but it is, by far, my most favorite event! As the implement moves farther from the body (shot-closest, hammer-farthest), correct technique to optimize flight of the implement increases in difficulty. He explains it all--load, feel, orbit, catch, rhythm, etc... Very helpful!

ThrowsIreland - Thanks for the reply. As a M60 master older thrower I discovered the rotational method is easier or puts less pressure on the knees versus the glide. The reason for saying this is I have patella tendinitis from basketball (Jumpers Knee). The glide seems to put direct stress on the knee in the power position. However, the rotational appears to place less direct pressure. It is hard to explain. The challenge is I was trained in the 1970s when the glide was prevalent albeit Brian Oldfield hit the scene in `1975.
