I follow a few leatherwork and shoemaking channels. I've seen that machine somewhere.
I worked on similar ones back in the 80's. They were, at the time; somewhat common in the women's accessories industry. Purses, billfolds, etc. I imagine the majority of that industry is now in Asia. I have some fond memories of that day and time. Well done.
Nice to hear, thanks!
Hi Nice work!
Thanks!
🥃👍👏🥃👍👏🥃👍👏🥃👏🥃👏🥃👍👏🥃👍👏🥃👍👏🥃👍👏
That is so awesome. That leather skiving machine looks much better and it works like a charm too. By the way, I have never seen a machine like that before. Excellent work.
Thanks! Im surprised how well it actually works
My bell skiver is about 5 years old and I can tell you nothing has changed. It's identical to the Fortuna but, just a different color.
It seems that! I hope there is no leather belt on new ones?😅
@@manuLab no, the drive belt for the skiing bell is a standard rubber material.
That was very satisfying, and what a cool machine!
Thanks!
cool
Why not keeping it original???
Should have recorded it in real time… still…. Amazing work 👌🏼👍🏼
Thanks! Maybe next video without speeding👍
Looks amazing! What is the suspension set up on this?
Thanks! Front 4inch narrowed beam and drop spindles. Also front frame is raised. Rear has trans raise 2inch and 3inch dropped spring plates.
If I shipped mine out to you I’d pay for you to do mine
Great job!
Thanks!
Tosi hieno!
Kiitos!
That was so satisfying to watch. Great skills and a fantastic result. I like you didn’t over do the tri-colour stitching leaving the exclusively for the steering wheel. Provides a more appealing OEM look.
Thanks a lot!
Classico e lindo movendo-se suavemente!😍🇧🇷
Amazing
What a great result. I'm still on the fence regarding alcantara steering wheel for my 996. At one hand I love it, but on the other hand I also prefer OEM leather
Thanks! I know that feeling, thats why you need one with alcantara and one with fresh oem leather🤌
How nice is this 😎😎😎
Thanks!😎
Kunnon hyvä video! 🤌
Tänks! Hyväkunnon🙏
Beautiful car!
Thanks!
Coche icónico, precioso
Hey man, amazing craftsmanship! I’m currently losing my mind over finding the right colors from Serafil to get that oldschool E46 M Tricolor look. I was wondering if maybe you could help me out and tell me which color numbers you used? I tried to peek at the numbers on the spools you had in the video but couldn’t read them. Thanks in advance!
Thanks! These are the right colours:8235, 0816 and 0504. If you want that purple version use 7377 instead of 0816
@@manuLab Thanks for the quick reply! Now that I'm watching on my computer instead of my phone I can see the numbers on the yarn perfectly, whoops. I'm pretty sure you know what you're talking about but what's still a bit confusing to me is that the lighter blue looks kinda dark in the shot with the three spools next to each other and very light when you're sewing with it and also in the finished steering wheel. That's why I first thought 8470 (which is lighter and also a bit turquoise) could maybe be an even better match for the M colors. Or am I wrong ?
@@mosh9276 that can be possible! I actually can't remember did I use "right" blue on that one because its so long time ago but I do remember those color codes what are at least close.
price for steering wheel (same)

My dream car rn
Great Job! I'm currently wrapping my wheel in Nappa leather and Alcantara, and I reckon it is really hard. I've had to start over twice already. What is the best tip you can give to someone trying this themselves?
Thanks! Yes these are challenging and require a lot of practice! when fitting the leather to the correct size, cut only a little at a time. Lot of patience😅
Kieltämättä aivan mahtavaa laatua, iso kiitos 😎
Iso kiitos myös sinne!😎
And this is how you add 20 years more life to a steering wheel 💪🏼

WHEN YOU TAKE RESTORABLE VINTAGE LEATHER THAT IS REAL AND PUT ON FAKE SUADE. 😂
Alcantara… and alcantara is more premium these days, your comment doesn’t really hit as hard as you think it does
Really nice job!! How do you remove the cap with the gear numbers on the shift knob ?? I want to do it too 😁
Thanks! Thats glued so you need heat and something what you can pop it off
Beautiful!!!
Brilliant ! Subbed! Can I send you my gear knob and handbrake ?
Thanks! Sure you can. Send me email info@manulab.fi or instagram @manulab_fi
Absolutely amazing! Can I buy these at all from you please?
Thanks! You can send your steeringwheel and other stuff to me and i can do those. Send email if interested info@manulab.fi or instagram @manulab_fi
Clean af!
Thanks!
which glue did you use?
That bison tix but almost any contact glue will work
Congratulations MANULAB, great luxury in this splendid work, your new Oscar fan.
Yikes - please wear a glove when using the sander. The edges cut quickly.
What thiccness do you use for the string ? 0.45 mm ?
Serafil size 15
Hello MANULAB, best regards. Congratulations on your video, very interesting. I'm a fan of car maintenance. And this issue of the change to Alcántara, everything. A luxury, thank you, your new Oscar fan.
Thanks oscar!
Awesome!!
Thanks!
Can you make a vid on how you slammed it, camber and everything. I'm wanting to do this with my Beetle and it would be super helpful.
maybe i can do something like that, ive already done those mods so its hard to make video of it, i think.
@@manuLab yeah, there’s no videos of “how to camber a beetle” so that’s why I’m asking
Camber comes automatically when you lower these things👍 so check some lowering videos
@@manuLab oh Alr, thx for the info
Nice work. This video reminds me that in a restoration, some things are better left to professionals like you.
Thanks!
Sorry, how do you adjust your side mirror?😊
Just by turning it
Damn that was cool to watch! Really amazing work, subscribed!!!
Thanks a lot!
I was looking for a video with this type of quality and I just kept getting stupid videos with people rewrapping their wheels over the old nasty leather. Randomly this came up on my recommendations and I’m glad it did. Exactly what I was looking for a couple days ago.
Thanks!
Hi what kind of foam do you use to add padding to the steering wheel and what is the thickness, Thanks great work!
Hello, thanks! Thats 2mm rubber cellular foam
Sweet ride
Where did you get the headlights from. I just picked up 1960 Indian Red and think those would go well with it.
GREAT WIORK! I've got a couple of 996 cars that need this work done. I can turn a wrench and maybe re-dye some fabric but you are a true artisan. Sub'd!
Thank you, i appreciate it!
