Clinical Psychology Doctorate Application Q&A
Your hair looks great! - thanks for sharing your experience.🙂
hey, are you paid without being on placement?
a masters in what though?
I looked you up because I knew you'd be graduating soon. I remember being so happy for you when you got in, because you 100% deserved it. You are such a genuine person and an asset to the profession. Well done you <3
hi sharon had my interview today. Wish i saw the third video earlier. My interview questions were easy but i was a bit too nervous i guess. I felt like i needed star model and reflection in every question as i practised 5 questions each day for 2 weeks and you would realise how tired that would feel. They asked me something from my own experience i could have said about supporting an emotionally distressed pregnant women but then i said an answer about challenging situation of a client in learning disability though i havent worked in that area. But chat gpt generated sample answer as i really wanted to evidence star model and stuff 😢 it feels like sometime we overcomplicate things. I was unable to answer in detail simple question like " what do you understand by safeguarding and types of abuse"
hi! can i ask if overexposure to your clients issues affects your mental health? im worried about this
Hey! Is working as teaching assistant in SEN school is considered to be relevant experience?
Hii, I'm in yr12 and I'm interesting in becoming a clinical psychologist, do u have any tips on work experience/volunteering place which I can go into and other extracuracullar.
I graduated this year with a first in psychology and cognitive neuroscience at a Russel group uni and am really struggling to find anything relevant for the field. So many roles require a year experience, and the ones that don't pay considerably less than my job at tesco rn so wondering if its worth just waiting to do a masters! really stuck on what to do!!
Well done you are an inspiration with your refreshing honesty.
These made me laugh so much xD
Listen Life is more important than winning.
what is a 2-1 ? your accent makes me wonder if that's even relevant to me.
Having a 2.1 in your degree refers to the grading system, maybe there's a difference equivalent in wherever you're from (you can look it up) but it translates to having 60% overall in your degree once you've graduated
So happy you're back! Congrats on finishing your Thesis x
Hello ....can you tell me a best pathway for an international student coming through conversion course
At long last. Welcome back Sharon you have been missed. Your vlogs really are the best. Congratulations on your interview. You'll smash it 👌
What is the alternative handbook, could you provide a lik for this
Congratulations Sharon on your well-deserved appointment. You remain a great inspiration. Onwards and upwards!
Congrats Sharon! That’s amazing and you should be so proud. I’ve watched some of your difficult reflections and it’s amazing to have been a part of your journey. It’s been a real honor ✨
Thank you!!! I’m so lucky to have you all along for the ride!
OMG wake up everyone QUEEN HAS POSTED!! sharon, seriously, you don't know how long I have waited for you to start posting again on youtube, missed you a lot!! So glad you are back and thanks soooo much!! I really hope you will be posting regularly :))
🥹🥹🥹 aww stop it!!! I’m so glad to be back on RUclips. I’ve missed it! The community over here cannot be beaten!
I have been WAITING for this🎉
It’s a long one!! I hope you enjoy
Thank you Sharon, I was unbelievably stressed, and this helped me remember that real people actually get into the program and it is possible.
This is single handedly the best explanation video I have watched, hopefully with your advice you can help get me from BSc psychology to DCLinPsy if this is the route I choose to go down, great video, thank you!
Hi Sharon! I've found your videos incredibly helpful. I am currently in the process of applying for DClin and was wondering if you would be so kind to connect with me and give me some feedback on my personal statements? Thank you and hope you are well <3
It sounds like a great job a playworker
They ask to provide references, is there any way we can ask for references who are already working in the NHS? or can we simply provide it from our native place? Does it matter a lot for AP roles? can we ask the recruiter to prove referees ?
Its a big relief... thank you very much Sharon for sharing useful information. Love from Pakistan >3
Aoa you can give your mobile number mam g
Hi! I'm an international student, and I've just graduated with a Master's degree in Psychology and Education (conversion) in the UK this year. I'm now planning my next steps and considering future qualifications like BPS, BACP, or HCPC. However, I'm still unsure about the type of experience I should gain before applying for these, and I'm a bit confused about the differences between BACP and HCPC. Could you help clarify what sets these qualifications apart, particularly for someone interested in clinical or corporate psychology? Also, if I want to work abroad as a clinical psychologist or offer psychological advice online, what would be the best path forward in terms of qualifications and experience? Thanks for your insights!
if its a private psychological aervice and i cannot find values on the website??
Not the finance partner cliche 😂😂
I'm currently graduated in psychology from Pakistan, want to do master in UK as international student, make sure any like clinical, education, organisational but most priority in clinical should be one year BCS on year master is less tuition fee.recommend me affordable universities?
my dream was a psychoanalytic oriented Dclinpsy at the uk
Hi I am an international student, now I am doing my msc psychology here. Is that possible for me to do Dclinpsy in the UK after my msc.
Are you from the Philippines?
you were really helpful, thanks a ton
I love that you call your mum 'Mumma B' as well, I do this! This video made me so happy when you got accepted eeeeek!
Could you share with us tips how your CV should look like, please? Ideally it would be to see your CV
I completed msc in applied psychology from kk in59%can I study Psy D in uk.Iam from in india
What if you have a Masters in Clinical Psychology? Isn’t that enough to work as clinical psychologist in the UK?
No you need a doctorate
If one had an interest in space medicine and mental health what might be the area of psychology in the uk might need to look at I keep seeing 'operational psychology' but not sure that is a catagory to specialise in does that mean anything to you can you clear up for me thanks
great so if I want to turn my bachelors hons degree in integrative counselling into a psychology career my next steps are, psychology conversion masters which will be like if my bachelors was in psychology all along. I guess the overlap will help vs if it was a completly different degree as they train us on the founders of various therapies and alot of them were psychologists etc. But after conversion degree then its straight to dclinpsy if going that route? just so i've understood correctly. My original bachelors is a 2:1 so does that mean skip masters or does it have to be the conversion that needs to be 2:1 etc not sure my question makes much sense out loud. Think i might be following you on instagram your day in the life of videos really kool :)
the psychological level of cringe is legendary :D
Thank you so much! I'm currently pursuing my undergrad in India, and would love to work in the UK, and was very much hyperventilating thinking about what to do. You helped me so much!
Hello, here in Belgium, you do a 3y Bachelors in Psychology & then a 2y Masters to become a clinical psychologist and get a license. But in the UK, you have to do a DClinPsy to be able to work as a clinical psychologist if I understood correctly. So this means, after I get approved my degree by the BPS in the UK, I have to pass the IELTS, apply for DClinPsy & complete the course to be able to finally work as a clinical psychologist in the UK. How long is the DClinPsy course ?
can you do dclinpsy after doing msc health psychology (BPS accrediited)
This is such a helpful video. I have recently started applying to these roles and have been making these exact same mistakes. Stressing out trying to cover all of the essential criteria within a concise word count. It has definitely made mine disjointed too. So happy to hear you discuss this!
thank you so much for this video, doing god's work
Do I need to submit a research proposal for the admission procedure ?
And now ur a trainee clinical psychologist. You are inspirational
