The American Dream is about the opportunity to do well for yourself. Its NOT a promise of success. I agree that one must decide what will make them happy but I DISAGREE that hard work wont get you there...yes,luck talent and connections will play parts too, but again its about opportunity NOT sure things. Malcom X and his ilk were nothing but victim racists who bought into this notion that white people were evil by their nature and black people where inhereently superior. Sounds like the KKK to me. I dont buy ANY of that kind of crap whether it comes from a white man or a black one. People like you are failing your audience. Yes the world is tough, and it WILL beat you down, knock your teeth out if you let it. But you stand back up, look it in the eye and say F that, I can take it. You put in the hours the sweat the blood...and yes at the end of the day you can achieve quitea bit. But not is you are unwilling to focus, to determine, as you said, what YOU want and then take the ACTIONS to achieve it. If you are unsatisfied with your lot in life, make a change. But most people are weak, lazy, stupid and looking for shortcuts. They are more interested in blaming others for their failures, or drinking, getting high, chasing sex. Well if that is how you want to live, fine, but dont complain about the results.

The American Dream does not exist anymore. The only people who are truly living the American Dream is the Upper Class. Middle Class keep shrinking which forces them to either work more hours to be Upper Class with less free time or become lower class to have same quality of life with less disposable income. This is why many Americans are moving to other countries for a decent quality of life.

debt is the american dream now. you gotta go to school, buy a car, buy a house, get married. do each one of these you have to go into debt! Look now you got it all, but you’re now gonna have to pay for the rest of your adult life. You’re a broke joke with a crappy job you can’t quite. don’t get me started with healthcare. I’m realizing the american dream is to get out of america asap without debt. If someone thinks to be too relaxed without any work to lead a heavenly lives in USA, is wrong. You have to work wherever you want to live and then you may have a peaceful living. USA will give you better security than you are now. Better future of your kids than they are with now. Better living environments than you are with now.

They punish you for doing the right thing. They punish you for being helpful. They tell young women not to have families. They legalized alcohol but stealing food because you're hungry is illegal. It's one giant trap; designed to get you killed at every stage of development.

I understand but you can start your own income. I work part time 9-5 because I like it. I have two side businesses I paid off all debt and work on what I like working on. I also bought a duplex to live in and make money on the other side. There are ways to get what you want in life

You are very weak giving up on the American dream, I grew up in the Bronx in the 70's very hard life, I pushed myself to find a better future, so after H.S. I joined the U.S. Army, now I'm a retired disabled veteran, I never gave up, I am thankful to my country, I have a very good pension, so giving up early is your fault, I never gave up and I made it out of the ghetto.

I have seen a lot of these videos lately and I agree in part but the issue I see is that there are a lot of people that have achieved the American dream..As the head of my house and leader of my family it is my responsibility to be tired everyday so that their lives are better..My father did it for me I do it for them..

Why is the assumption that HARD WORK equates to SUCCESS!!??!! Nobody cares how hard one works (or worked) to achieve wealth! Thats that person's fault for succumbing to the dreams of another's dream they have made for themselves by using YOU.

Yeah, I don't know why men want me to go through so many miscarriages, risking my life trying to have a bunch of children... for what? Just to celebrate Thanksgiving? Then he will have to work all of his life... and when all the kids are grown... he can't get out of the car... he's too old to walk.... bad back, walking with cane... And some of his kids got drug problem... and some other kids need section 8 voucher to get an apartment. Or your kid got disability. Why?
