It's actually 1957. That's according to the "Sounds of the N&W" page on Columbus Railroads, which has a shorter clip of the same recording.

There are only two of these around today, Norfolk & Western 2156 displayed at the National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri, and their Norfolk & Western 2050 displayed at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois. We could’ve also had three other Y class 2-8-8-2’s preserved to this day, with those being Norfolk & Western 2174 (That could’ve been in operation at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke, Virginia with 611), 2143 (That could’ve been displayed at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin), and 2189 (That could’ve been displayed at the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke, Virginia).

The G.E. high hoods are certainly an interesting design I personally prefer the E.M.D. ones, but the G.E. ones seem a bit unique

The k1 used hooter whistles like the articulateds the n&w had!?
Yes but, it was almost Like a Mixture of The UP 3985 and An N&W Hooter Whistle itself
The K1s and K2s were built before the N&W adopted the Hancock 3-chime as their standard passenger locomotive whistle, so they all originally had hooter whistles. I believe only the K2s that were streamlined later on were converted to Hancock 3-chimes.
