In my opinion, this ad was mostly to show to their user base that they will keep working on it, as you said on the 3rd case. With the introduction of Apple intelligence in the next MacOS, I am expecting FCP to receive over time a number of AI features, using the on-board AI GPU of the M chips: Clip matching, auto-keywords, auto-captions, text based editing, face recognition etc etc This will probably not come in one go, but it feels now like it is the direction they are going and I would be super pleased about it, even tho some of those features are provided for years by the competition. My only concern, is that they keep on targeting FCP as a steroid version of iMovie, and never really try to tackle the real pro market. Because Final Cut is a very capable program, even in the current state.

One thing that I don't understand is why there is any incentive to "keep current customers?" I bought Final Cut like 7 years ago and I haven't had to pay for an upgrade since. Unlike Adobe where I have to pay $52/month in perpetuity.

I think it functions in letting the audience know we're still here, we're still developing FCP and we're paying attention to AI. When the next OS upgrade comes out (just weeks away) there's going to be a lot of AI development which they've already shown. FCP is dependent on the OS so the next step will be more AI as alluded to in the ad. We're either going to see a preview or a release of a big FCP upgrade during the FCP Creative Summit in November. This ad is the prologue, a new intro to the ongoing story as the next big chapter is coming up next. This ad is last season's recap of the big event/upgrade.

I think this ad is setting the stage for a total rebrand and redesign of the editing software coming in FCP 11, right now we are at 10.8.

May be they develop smth for ipados only.

Although I have always been a fan of FinalCut, I am now working more and more with Davinci Resolve, especially with the new 19 version. A lot of things are available in DR that I only have to buy for FinalCut via additional tools. Also, in my opinion, FinalCut for iPad is not for professional work. Of course, the little hobby film for RUclips is not an issue, but professional work with color grading and sound-design ... with the iPad ....? It is also interesting that Apple seems to be using Davinci more and more often for its own videos. I'm using DR 19 studio more and more.

I too was surprised that they pushed this ad. However, I was thinking they were releasing something new! But, only to realize it wasn't anything new at all. I saw another video saying they released it because DaVinci R. 19 rolled out; But also, to your same thought, maybe it is to say, "we are still backing final cut pro" and "we aren't done with it yet". For some reason, I have a feeling that some random month or at some random apple event, they're going to make and bring out a major update to FCP. Thats my hope at least.

thank you, one thing as a newby to fcp and editing, i find that most tutorials that are posted on youtube, the narrator speaks too fast , you are easy to understand and give clear instructions. ps. i dont use caps as i am holding a puppy dog and cant use 2 hands atm....lol

I have not had a chance to try 10.8 yet bc I am too busy with projects, but I wish Apple would change the Slow motion option to 40% which is the Normal rate when slowing down 60p. 50% make no sense at all. But I have made a Hot key to automate that task anyways. But it always makes me wonder when I see the drop down options being 50%

It is indeed soooo slow. Just rendering a small 4 minutes video is frustrating. It keeps on transcoding many times and rendering. It used to be great, but no more. The only reason I keep on using it is because I don't want to pay for FCPX on ipad - because I know I'd have to buy an expensive ipad for it work and on top of that, FCPX for ipad is paid subscription. I refuse to play that game. If I have to, I'll move on to another video editor software.

Amazing! Although we are almost 40 days in without any bug fixes since 10.8, it's truly frustrating. Just downloaded Davinci Resolve to try it out and subscribed to 1 month davinci cloud. Can't wait to see how it goes
