I just found out that most of my favorite CD's were sampled. I always thought that they played, created and sequenced all of these instruments. Now I see why I never heard a kick and or a snare playing by itself, that was because it was never tracked out so unless they unplugged tha tt cable half way, they couldn't. Is sampling a skill or is it steeling ? They both begin with the letter S so I'll leave that up to you. I would say that they are remixers. I would say anything that you put through these sampling machines, anyone can turn up faders and it will just sound different if you know what you are doing. I would say people who play live instruments spend more time learning and playing. My dream is to get a huge room with very tall ceilings. Play something on my synth, then hire a guitar player to play tha same notes and melody live, then I will put it in the SP1200 or even this sampling machine right here, and then I will manipulate tha sound. Good commercial and good points from both of them though.

If you hit a drum or pluck a guitar string, it is a played note of sound from a source. If you load a sample into an MPC & hit a pad, it is a played note of sound from a source. It is literally the same thing, except the source happens to be sourced from something that WAS composed & will now be revised into something different. Difference is, a producer can utilize literally any sound / noise from anything anywhere.... while a guitar player only plays the guitar or a drummer only plays the drums. Peace.

Such as Chicago, Styx, Ides of March, American breed, Buddy Guy,REO Speedwagon, the list goes on. My father taught me the industry from a young age. He also taught guitar and played in a band that did weddings and high school dances and proms. Until 1970, my father knew his draft number was coming. By 1971 he enlisted in the Navy and was in Vietnam from 1971-1973. In 1974 he married my mom and put music aside to raise a family.

I do the same although with one major difference. Instead of creating the false (turned down) hi-hat track, I start the song by using a template ([SHIFT] + [SONG]). ie. [2:PLAIN XL(14)] template creates enough blanks (already split into sections) to form a 6m song at the default of 70bpm. Then there is only minor tinkering to adjust the length of your intro/verse/hook/bridge etc. Not only is it quicker, but it doesn't cost you a track.

It will only work for 7 instruments with one track each. (Since you can change the 4 drum track and the 3 melodic tracks to instruments) After that you will have to work around the limitations, probably by resampling or using the vocal tracks and recording into those. the midi would have to be entered separately for each track, too! You welcome 🙏🏿 I hope this helps! Going to post more verselab videos very soon!
