2022 Season finally underway.. Episode 29
Просмотров 3002 года назад
At last the season has started. After what feels like a long winter of working, the boat has now been anti-fouled and polished. The sails have been cleaned, the engine serviced and I have at last been out sailing with family. I`ve even managed a walk
I`m still here - and sailing.. Episode 28
Просмотров 3643 года назад
After an interlude of a few months, I`m letting you all know that I`m still here and still sailing. This episode has a lot of me sailing with my children (Alice and Sam) and my father. Plus you get to see the Cornish coastline when I`m walking and the day to day chores of keeping the boat maintained.
IT`S ARRIVED !! I`m finally a published author - Episode 27

After two and a half years of working on my book, this week it has finally been published. Originally titled Walking with Legends, but changed due to sounding too big headed, it is now titled Short Walks in Cornwall - with each walk introducing a traditional Cornish story. This is my collection of eight short walks in West Cornwall which are all inspired and based around a local Cornish Legend....
Live-aboard Life - Emergency Tiller and Maintenance - Episode 26
Просмотров 4843 года назад

Marine Cuisine (Pasty`s and more) .. Episode 25
Просмотров 2403 года назад
After a few requests, I have put together a video of the sort of food that I find easy to prepare (and eat) on board my 33ft Moody. I am far from being even a moderate home cook, but I haven`t starved over the last 14 months of living aboard, so I hope that this will give you an insight into how easy it really is. Plus there`s a section on every Cornishman`s favourite food - the humble pasty. I...
The Reality of live-aboard life - Episode 24
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.3 года назад
This week has been more about boat life than sailing (although I`ve still got out twice). In this video, I`ve tried to show a little more of the reality of living on board a boat, whilst still trying to get out sailing, walking and starting work again! A bit of cooking, a bit of cleaning the boat through and a bit of rain!
Sailing through lockdown .. Episode 23
Просмотров 5533 года назад
This week has seen the beginning of our second national lockdown, but fortunately (for me) this time we are still allowed to go sailing as long as we return to our home port. So I`ve taken advantage of this and in between the rain and storms I have had three great sails. I hope that you will enjoy watching
Autumn Storms, but still out sailing and walking - Episode 22
Просмотров 6583 года назад
This week has seen the Autumn storms arrive with proper lack of weather in between. However, I`ve still been out sailing with family and friends and have got some good walking in both in Cornwall and up on Dartmoor with a good friend. The rain and wind has also allowed me to get on with a few of those domestic chores which also need doing when (like me) you are a live-aboard.

HELLO AUTUMN, farewell Summer - Episode 20

86 NAUTICAL MILES - Episode 19
Просмотров 4153 года назад
This week has been great for me. I`ve been off for my first proper solo trip, sailing 86 nautical miles with a distance from shore of around 13 nautical miles. I also had a little incident with the engine (lost drive just as I left a mooring) but all ended well. This video is pretty much all sailing, so sit back and I hope that you will enjoy (as much as I did the sailing).

    We're looking at buying a Moody 33 to live aboard and your videos have been really helpful! How do you find the head height in the main saloon?

    • @vagewalkingandsailing-mybr1117
      @vagewalkingandsailing-mybr1117 2 года назад

      Hi Scott and Kathryn. Firstly, good choice, they’re fantastic boats to both sail and live aboard. Height in the main cabin is a little tight. I’m nearly 5’11” and I can stand when I’m cooking but have to dip a little as I head forward. I have to say though, I’ve been living on board for over 2 years now and I haven’t found it a problem. Any questions feel free to ask

  • @michaelcuthbert3022

    Nice job with the mousing lines. I've just bought a mark 1 Moody 33cc (1977). First purchase has been a Planar diesel heater and a calorifier. Like you, I'm a live aboard and it's taken me 3 years to master the condensation challenges on my Colvic Watson. As you have no heating, how do you manage to keep clothes in those lockers in the aft cabin from going mouldy?

    • @vagewalkingandsailing-mybr1117
      @vagewalkingandsailing-mybr1117 2 года назад

      Hi Michael, great purchase getting your Moody, I’ve found they’re really superb boats and ideal for living aboard. Strangely I haven’t had a problem with mould (other than a small amount on the headlining). This could be because, even in the winter, I sleep with the washboards out so there’s lots of air circulation. On the odd night I’ve closed them I’ve borrowed a few humidifier. Enjoy the boat and any questions please feel free to ask

Firstly, the cycle is basically on the Bissoe Trail with some of the road cycling on the road from Bissoe back to Falmouth. My brother has just bought a moody 33 with aft cabin, but he doesn't have to go outside to get into it. It has a walk way under the deck to get into it. Only thing is you have to duck to get in and I'm only 5 foot 8. Very nice boat but it's not been used in 8 years and needs some work and modernising.
