Another great video! I look forward to your new videos and your success... Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.
Thanks, your support definitely keeps me motivated.
Looks like you channels actually doing relatively well congratulations
Thanks
I love your videos! So informative and entertaining 😂 I’m impressed with the round trip you did! That means I could go to town and back when I get mine! .. those were some rough roads too
Thanks, next test will be lithium batteries.
I remember the old day (last century) you'd be lucky to get 5 miles on a set of led acid batteries in a golf cart. Now if you can add regenerative brakig, that might add a little more mileage but more importantly save your brakes from overheating and possibly failing.
I am really looking forward to trying newer carts and seeing how far I can go. I do like how the old stuff has no electronics super easy to work on.
You have more watts in that than I have in the camper I live in. 👍
I have so much power on this cart the batteries are always fully charged. I am going to add a 3000 watt inverter and see how much I can run.
Get yourself 16 x 280ah lifepo4 cells. Half the weight, double the capacity. Costs about $60 per cell here.
I have some lithium batteries that I am going to install. I am going to go up to 48v. The next distance test should be epic 😎
How the hell did a 1200w heat gun best that system yet the inrush and running of a compressor was fine?
After reading your comment, it got me thinking and I plugged the heat gun directly into the Inverter it ran it just fine. I think the problem that I had, was a combination of the wiring in my house and the long extension cord that I was using.
Very interesting! I'm very impressed! I'd love to see more things like this!
Thank you so much for your kind words! Your support means a lot to me, and I'm excited to share more content with you!
Pretty cool that thing made it that far!
For sure, it was a good run.
Great video Ben
Thanks 😊
My new government conspiracy theory is that they want us all to have solar because clouds block satellites but if everybody has solar power they can only travel during the day
I am going to put lithium batteries in my golf cart. i will be able to drive a long way at night.
@@Thesolarfarmer And now my new conspiracy theory is you're testing that for the government so that they have information on how far people get away from them at night LOL
I'm still toying around with the Victron charge controllers and Giandel inverters. I like having cheap easy to to replace components, but I can't say I haven't been tempted by the EG4 equipment. It looks solid.
I just got my EG4 6000XP and will be installing it soon. I don't have any experience with Victron but I here good things about them.
@@Thesolarfarmer If you're going to buy a charge controller, make it a Victron.
WELL DONE
Thanks 😊
Fantastic job using scrap to build something that looks so good and so functional for multiple reasons. I love it! 😎
Thank you very much!
Great channel. I just subscribed.
Thanks
You did a lot of screwing around to make that
You know it.
So it counts down from 100. Does it count up from where ever you stopped, back to 100?
When it is charging it counts up.
@@Thesolarfarmer I bought one and it doesn't count up only down.
@@skid4482 Did you hook your charging sourse to to load side of the shunt?
@@Thesolarfarmer I hooked the red wire to the positive side of the battery. I only have 1 battery.
Great video with tons of information!
Thanks
HOWdy T-S-F, ... thanks for the history lesson ! my 1st 23 panels were OLDE = but NOT that Old but they did come equipped with MC3 connectors vs MC4's 🙂 LOL Thanks Again COOP the WiSeNhEiMeR from Richmond, INDIANA ...
Thanks for sharing, Coop! It's always interesting to hear about the evolution of technology, especially in solar panels. Those MC3 connectors definitely have their place in history!
That’s an awesome pavilion!! I love the built in power to run lights and bug zapper. Very informative! Now I’ll be on the hunt for some used solar farm panels, nice tip there 👌
That's a long time of running solar panels
Yea buddy!
Awesome video! Super informative! I’ll need your affiliate link soon
I like how you have your set up. I just did the one that Will Prowse showed on his channel and frankly I am not that impressed with it. I only built it for when we have outages which occur about 5 to 6 times a year where I live. I built it to run a refrigerator 26cu ft. and am quite disappointed that it will only run it for 37 hours before it needs to be recharged. I get about 2.4 KW of usable power and the other 2.7 KW is consumed by the inverter. I thought this was supposed to be very efficient or maybe I am missing something . I'm thinking of buying a 12V 460AH battery now with a 2000 watt inverter it might be more efficient. Great video by the way.
Thank you for your positive feedback. The Batteries are way more efficient than lead acid, but like you said, the loss of power from the inverter is a big issue. A lower watt inverter would consume less power since you already have the 48v battery, you might consider a smaller 48v inverter. If you have access to sunlight, adding some solar panels would definitely help.
Very nice!! Was literally using mine today. Such a good combo. Perfect for power tools and outdoor projects
I have seen a lot of your videos, tons of good info in them. You are the reason that I bought this EG4 system. I can never go back to lead acid batteries now. Thanks for info that you share.
@@Thesolarfarmer oh awesome!! Glad I can help 😁
They are a game changer for off grid applications. Shame we can't get them in Australia as we don't have 110 volts 😢
Hard to beat eg4! Going on year 2 with the same system basically. Run it everyday for critical loads, lights, fridge, electronics. Everything but 220 loads. Only had 1 problem and a simple reset cured it.
Better than Outback?
I think Outback is probably more durable, but EG4 is a third the price.
That's pretty cool! Now I want to play with solar. 😅
Solar is so easy these days.
@@kylefoster4974 Get your wallet ready 😂 Once you start it can get pricey 😂
You might have been better to put something on your wall so sound didn't reflect as much. Your audio does sound better but I think the problem might be the indoors
Indoor sound is challenging.
That's hot sponsor you've got
Lol
I am now subscribed to yer channel :)
Sweet
Hello "The Solar Farmer" I saw that in your channel have some problems. For these problems your channel is not much growing. Not getting much engagement. If you can solve these problems, Your channel will get more engagement. If you can give me permission I can tell to you about these problems. Can I tell here or email? Okay?
We got some new microphones, the sound should be better in our next videos.
I’m curious how much wattage your panels are putting out?
Just over 400 watts, they are 20 year old panels that I had. I want to put some new high wattage panels on it.
😎
Wow water only 6ft!
Troque spec... "good and tight"
Science.
My boys loved this one.
Awesome, I am glad that they loved it.
Dump the Vglide and replace it with an H bridge. Much more relyable. You will need a potentiomiter on your pedel but that would be a relativly easy adaptation with a 3d print. Great job on the video! Liked it alot!
H bridge sounds like a good idea. I will look into it. For my next run, I am putting in a new Vglid, but I am going to run the top speed through a solenoid. The motor draws over 6,000 watts when I climb the hills.
What!? That would take me up my mountain from town. I gotta see what your second test can do, I could probably get a round trip to town! .. I’m getting the itch to buy me a golf cart bad
When I get the Lithium batteries put in, I think it will go 20 miles.
Look for golf carts with bad batteries, they are cheaper. I will show you how to install lithium batteries for less $ then lead acid.
I thought you mentioned you bought a better microphone I guess it hasn't come in yet
I got my new mic after this was done. I will use on next week's vids.
@@Thesolarfarmer I see 👀
If you're trying to do RUclips professionally you may want to have a regular upload schedule it's better than dropping 3 videos in 1 day
Did you use an ai to do to hate your voice. I think it would have been a lot better if you just used your own voice instead of an ai
Sound was great. The only voice change was talking to the dog, and it was a nice touch. Made me lol
I was so scared! Whew! Glad there was a solution
Why did you lay the heater down instead of leaving it vertical?
I built this for summer so I laid it on its side to get the most surface area for the sun to heat.
@@Thesolarfarmer thanks for the reply. I was thinking if used vertically with the cold water entering the bottom as you have it plumbed the incoming cold water would displace the maximum volume of hot water. Plus as the cold water level rose it would absorb heat from the metal tank increasing the amount of available heated water. Just my 0.02 cents worth.
So dramatic
That desert doesn't stand a chance. lol
Cool! This video was packed with all kinds of handy information. Almost makes me want to start a project of my own.😅
Thanks for the feedback.
Great job Ben I just gave you a post just to help you spread it
Awesome, thanks for sharing! Did you notice what hat I am wearing.
Love it! The music choice got me 😂. All you need is a wearable microphone to bring in better quality sound to your videos. Keep them coming; I'm invested.
I hear you on the music! At one point, I was hungry for some chips and salsa at one point Ruby. Man do I miss your world famous ginger snaps. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Your mother is definitely the best cook I’ve ever known.
We got a wearable microphone, but the cord is too short to use.
Fantastic! Almost makes me miss living in the desert. 😅 Nothing beats Montana though. Great video Amigo!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do I plan on doing a well? No, but did I watch the entire video? Absolutely! Very informative, handy as heck!
Thank you so much for watching the entire video! I really appreciate your feedback, and I’m happy to hear you found it handy!
