I Converted A Toyota HiAce Into The PERFECT Stealth Van For Snowboarding..
WOW! Stunning place!
yeh def want to go back
Nice mate, looks like a lot of fun, good idea not to go with the stoned guides haha.
yeh everyone seems to be stoned now in Thaialnd 😆
Man what a place, looked fun but those walls were pretty hardcore. Thanks for taking us along too.
cheers 😀yeh too hard for me
this might be silly but could you sleep in ur van at coin parking lots.
i do for sure 😆
@@RyanSnowPhotographer would you recommend only doing it in rural cities and towns or would it be fine to do it in a big city i dont want to bother the Japanese and be a dumb tourist haha do you usse an app to find parking?
well I can’t really recommend it as probably not allowed but I do it and other Japanese people do it. I do it in the big cities because if I go for a night out I can sleep close in the center. There is actually and pairing in the center of Sapporo that allow people to sleep in their cars so I wouldn’t worry about it. Just don’t piss outside offcourse so good to find one with a conbini close by
Hi, great video, any advice would be welcome on where to hire a camper if flying into Chitose?
cheers 🤙 oh i wouldn't know unfortunately? but i have heard there are a few options around for sure
How hard it is to find parking at Niseko? And did you use toll roads?
Well depends where in Niseko? Do you mean at the ski resort or like in town for food and stuff? Also a rarely use toll roads unless I need to as pretty expensive
nice one mate! i'm mostly invested in Hiroma's food baby... also that ryokan in hakone is badass!
The funny thing is that’s before eating 😆 he hungry and was thinking about food 😂
Was the snow in Yuzawa powdery?
On a good day it’s amazing! Because it’s so cold there so snow so light.
Heading there this season for 3 days, stoked as!
Oh your going to love it! Did you see my POV tree run videos there? Gives you some kind of real perspective. Love there
13:55 is so funny
Glad to make you laugh 😆 we just a bunch of good balls
How easy was it to find places to park around Hokkaido?
Very easy. Always just slept at roadside stations
I can’t wait to see some of that white stuff fall again, but I really enjoy all your content you’ve been putting out! Good vibes and killer edits. Have a blast in Thailand, can’t wait to see what you got up to.
Oh yeh getting stoked for winter. Not far off now. Cheers for the nice comment 🤙 🤣 not even sure if I make a Thailand video. In absolute holiday mode here and haven’t took the camera out once. Just beaches, swimming, climbing and fruit smoothies
@@RyanSnowPhotographer Sounds amazing! Enjoy being in holiday mode, you needed it after that marathon. See you next time you pick up the camera. 🤙
@ cheers for always supporting my channel. Really means alot to get such nice feedback
Rad stuff! Love it.
Glad you like it!
Well I wonderdwhen you were going to come out it was a nice sun set don’t over do it love grandmaxxx
🤣 thanks gran 💕
I love your videos May I ask.. What time of the year did you went on this trip? Me and my gang would like to visit this season..
@@borninjapan231 cheers 🤙 glad you like them 😊 this video specifically was around early/mid Jan
nice first shot
@@freewayproject 😆 cheers man 🤙
千葉最高
another good one mate.
cheers joe 🤙
Where is your accent from Ryan? I can never work it out 😊
🤣 no one can ever figure it out. I grew up in Scotland and Austria but have lived abroad my whole adult life. Lived in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, around Europe and been in Japan the last 10 years 🤨 so I guess my accent is pretty messed up
just a little bit more size and that would be a fun little beachie
Wow what a beautiful place indeed. Philippines is so beautiful and the people speaks english as well. We will definitely go there with friends and family. That kid is making a living there, i hope you gave him more than enough. He deserves it. Nice video man. I heard Balabac is very beautiful as well. Btw, isn't that close to that island i believe China is stealing it from Philippines? Its in the news and i hope help will come to stop Chinese from stealing islets from Philippines. Anyway, safe travels to you and enjoy Philippines.
Yeh was such a beautiful place. The kid and his family live all alone on that end of the island. No electricity or anything and has to walk 1 and half hours to school every day 😮
A mini ramp, waves and even a reggae gig. Bomboklaat, I wish I was there:)
😆 yeh this the perfect place for you 🤙
Great video. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Montec is better
😆 👌
Stunning location!
yeh so beautiful. Was really impressed
That's an awesome little spot.
yeh stunning
That barely moved enough air to make a difference.
Good for airflow control in the van when can’t put an air vent in. For controlling the hot air I have another portable fan inside 🤙 Also this really helps a lot in winter with cooking inside van
nice mate! excited for some more raw episodes this winter!
Yeh that’s where it’s at 🤙 I really like the idea of us doing follow cam with the 360 and a mic on us to capture the RAW through the trees. Going to be fun 🤙
👌
😆 yeh just trying something new for my channel. Will try keep uploading weekly vlogs on a Sunday and during the winter (snowboard POV) RAW uploads on a Thursday. See how that goes 🤔 Will go Bali soon so thought about some RAW surf vids to keep me entertained out there
@@RyanSnowPhotographer awesome, i have gotten one of the best swells in my life in Indo in October. Yer it's all about trying stuff that you like doing. See if anything gets traction. have fun over there.
@@freewayprojectoh 🤩 yeh I was meant to be shooting in Siargao this month as I heard October is great there also. But have an event upcoming I need to shoot so had to cancel. But super stoked for Bali upcoming. Yeh my channel grew from my winter series but don’t want to limit my channel just to snowboarding and photography that’s why I changed the name 😆 want to be able to explore what I enjoy and see what takes off. A guy I follow who has a tonne of subscribers his channel been struggling and only getting a couple hundred views and then recently one video which is completely different to what he has been doing gained traction and since then his channel has been growing again like crazy. Completely switched his videos after that one
sick boys! stunning prefecture. did you end up going back to that beautiful mossy/forest spot where you got that incredible photo years back? i believe that was in Yamaguchi too eh?
Ah that was in Fukui which is way up there. Inbetween Kyoto and Kanazawa. Although I did go back there last December when it was all fall colors. Absolutely stunning and magical vibes. There is a whole ancient Buddhist complex up there which is incredible
@@RyanSnowPhotographer ahh yeah that's right! so beautiful!
Great idea!
Cheers 😃 although I can’t take the credit, got this idea from a Japanese guy on RUclips. They pretty innovative with the vanlife here. Ideally I would like a roof vent but can’t really do that here without a complicated process of reregistering my van to a camper. So this idea works well
@@RyanSnowPhotographerI'm trying to avoid cutting any holes. This method could also work for a temporary shore power connection.
@@MsTikiB yeh exactly. My whole van build has been avoiding cutting holes and even drilling holes. Although my recent installation I did have to cut a slight hole in the floor for my diesel heater but this was no problem for my registration in Japan. Also diesel heater is an absolute game changer 😮
I actually love hearing the waves break. Puts me to sleep and in my happy place. Just like rain on a tin roof 😆
😆 yeh I love the sound of the waves too. That’s why I always like to pull up to beaches and reverse to the water. But actually I guess it wasn’t the waves 🤔 maybe i just couldn’t get to sleep as was crazy hot and my bed is a little too tight for 2 dudes to share especially when the other guy sleeps in the spoon position 😆 I don’t know but this was the worst night of the trip for sleeping 😆
@MountainSwell oh yeh sleeping in the heat is what gets me. Does look quite cosy for 2 blokes haha. Oh well at least you didn't have to get up for a 9-5 and battle through traffic to get to work. Really love your vids man and the life you live. I'd love to actually meet up with you one winter for some pow shots. Keep up the good work mate. Love the content you provide whether it be in the snow or on the beach and just travelling around. Keep it up legend and thabk you
yeh this summer has been pretty intense. Even now where I live it’s mid October but still 30 degrees. Although I love the warmth for surfing for sure. Definitely the van is more cozy in the winter and can sleep 2 people comfortably all cozied up in the sleeping bags. And especially when it’s freezing and snowing outside and can chill inside with just tshirt on (diesel heater) so nice. Glad you enjoying the videos. I’m always stoked to get comments as makes me keep making videos. Nice to hear when people actually watching them. Yeh for sure hit me up whenever you make it to Japan. I heard this winter is going to be epic 😮
You are still making me happy looking at you it’s so nice to take in but keep going love you you grandmaxxxx
I make these videos for you to watch ❤️
be careful of drowning machines around waterfalls. They look inconspicuous but it can be quite easy when the flow of the water is high. I wish I had such peaceful days off. Thank you for sharing <3
Thanks for the tip 😊 but may I ask what a drowning machine is? I never heard of one?
Those waves wouldn't bother me. I can sleep through tornados. 😂
Lucky you! I’m such a light sleeper which makes vanlife pretty tiring sometimes. Worst is during the winter when I have to get up to pee 😆
鳥取最高です 牛骨ラーメン美味い 砂の博物館もNICEやで
ラーメンは美味しそう 🤤
I suggest not staying on the north shore when a swell is running then mate, you don't just hear it but feel it 🤣. Under the bridge looked like a fun spot to surf.
😆 yeh I’m such a light sleeper and this was such a nice spot I didn’t even think that would be a problem 😆 also doesn’t help when I got a mates butt nearly touching my face each night 😆
@@RyanSnowPhotographer haha, yer the touching face thing would freak me out
@@freewayproject yeh my next van will be the Toyota Hiace wide high roof version for sure or an actual RV
LOVE the magic flashlight reference here with the vending machine opener
😂cheers but I’m not sure I understand? What’s a magic flashlight?
@@RyanSnowPhotographer Old internet snowboard video ruclips.net/video/ox78WEmXQB8/видео.html
Maybe you didnt mean to make the reference but it reminded me of it!
@@andersonday3196😂yeh I have no idea about it? Is it something from a movie or something? Would love to see it 😆 Actually we was driving to the mountains and we kept seeing so many lonely vending machines and thought would be cool to make some sort of intro. Just made it all up as we went along 😆 we not the clever to plan something. Doesn’t even make sense? Wrapped a bottle in paper and he opened and drank it and then his clothes turned to snowboard clothes 😆 makes no sense
最高
I would miss the noodles every time I think haha. that gorge looks epic.
yeh Takachiho Gorge is amazing and the whole surrounding area is incredible. Would actually love to do a proper cinematic sequence there to really show it. Its only an hour from my house so not too far to get to. Its just so easy to shoot with the Osmo pocket but defintly some shots need to get the real camera out for sure 🤙
interesting geology and beautiful volcano. would hike Aso next time I visit there
😆 for you sure you would love it here. That’s your PhD right?
Yeah my phd thing was hard rock, guess Rhys loves soft rock more 😁
@@rezahasibuan5089 😆he loves anything soft...And after working with him all these years i dont think he likes rocks at all 😆
😆🌋
When the conditions start getting tough the pussies start whining!
My wife and i visited Japan from the UK this June for the first time. Absolutely fantastic. We have an imported V6 Nissan Elgrand van back in the UK. #vanlife. ❤️🇯🇵
😮 that’s pretty cool! How easy was it to import a van back? Japan has a lot of really cool domestics vans and cars that would be nice abroad. Glad you enjoyed Japan even in June as can be so muggy during June
There are quite a lot of imported Elgrands, Alphards and Bongos in the UK, so fairly easy to pick up. 👍
Ah true. How about Hiace? I have seen a few Delica actually when I go back. Like the older Delica. They pretty cool vans. I originally wanted one of them but didn’t want to support the gas on them 😆 older cars are cool for sure but just way more expensive for gas and maintenance.
Best resort in Hokkaido?
😆 are you asking a question? 🤔
Which camera and lens are you using, and how does it hold up in the cold snowy weather?
I shoot with a Sony A7iv and only have 2 lenses i use. Sigma 24-70 2.8 and Sony 70-200 2.8 mark ii They hold up great. I shoot professionally with this set up for my clients so really rely on this. When actually on shoots I mainly always use the 70 200 as its internal zoom 🤙 Batteries are always kept inside my jacket to keep warm. And number one tip…. Always have a lens blower in your pocket 👌
@@RyanSnowPhotographer Wow thank you so much, I really enjoy your videos and pictures! 🤩
ah thanks man! Really appreciate it. Always nice to hear when someone watching these
@@RyanSnowPhotographer Really inspiring! you are welcome. Hope to meet you some day in the powder of Japan :)
@@bjarkejahn812 yeh for sure 🤙 let’s see if we ever cross paths in the slopes
lovin these summer vibes guys. also the pumpkin line killed me 😂
🤔 must be a Canadian thing? Because Nina sent me a message about that line too 😆
I got tongue twister becuase I knew it had a name and I thought no can’t be pumpkin because they the big things for Halloween and I thought kabocha but then I thought no that’s the healthy drink with bacteria. Anyway I was right in my head it was kabocha 😆 Japanese word and I didn’t even realize. Also the drink is kambucha 😆
@@RyanSnowPhotographer lol love it!
I always imagined that wouldn't be good to leave the snowboard exposed if not in use. I assume you will leave there outside while you sleep. If it snows a lot during the night, won't the weight of snow be bad to the snowboard?
Actually my snowboard goes in my roofbox. The snowboard racks I got more for when I finished a days riding I put in there for quick access if I’m in same location riding next day. If snows a lot over night it’s never been that much crazy snow to really put weight on the snowboard. But if left for days not in use and in a crazy snowstorm then definitely. Also I barely drive with them in the snowboard rack too as the edges will become rusted real fast due to road salt and air. Basically I use them when at a resort for a few days and if just want to put them on for ease of access. But your right about snow weight. My roof box is broken exactly for that. But more of because anything plastic becomes so frozen and brittle. I was clearing the snow off my roof box and when I tried to open it the handle snapped so I had to repair that. That’s why I got the snowboard racks as another option. A lot of Japanese riders actually use a Makita blower to blow dry their boards to store in the van. I might even purchase one this year as looks like a great idea. You will see it in my episode at Ryuoo Snow Park 🤙
Camera?
My camera for shooting is Sony A7iv and for vlogging is DJI Osmo 3
fun little right there 👌
yeh think one day i want to get a longboard to just cruise on these smaller waves.
