The songs from Aladdin are some of the best of any animated film Disney has ever produced. The film itself rivals The Lion King as the best of the Disney Renaissance. As for Robin Williams, I am in complete agreement. He was the first celebrity casting in an animated role, and, totally unsurprisingly, considering it is Robin Williams, still the best. I don't think any of the countless celebrity castings in the last 30 years has ever equalled him in Aladdin. What an extraordinary accomplishment. Well done, sir. Well done, wherever your are. Williams was hardly the first celebrity cast in an animated role. Orson Welles was in Transformers: The Movie. And even if we stick to Disney, we have Angela Lansbury in Beauty and the Beast.
They're saying the songs are not as good as the previous movies songs is the only thing I strongly disagree with. "A Whole New World" might be one of the best Disney songs of all time, and if you don't feel any emotion while hearing it. You have no soul.

I LOVE Aladdin’s color palette. The colors are basically vibrating in every frame. The blue and orange - no Disney movie has such a stylistic color palette
That's what I was gonna say. I remember going to a skating arena where they would play these songs and the opening rif raf song all the time. Definitely classics.
The things they like best about the film really date it and keep it from becoming a classic. This was enjoyable, but there will be much better versions of Aladdin in the future.
Siskel says it’s aimed at boys like that’s really a reason it wasn’t as good as the previous animated features, haha! I think he was dead wrong (no pun intended) about the songs, too.
It kinda feels like they never really gave any of the Disney films after Beauty and the Beast that much credit. TLM and B&tB set the standard for them, and they're good films, but Aladdin is probably just as good if not better than one or the other.
so Beauty and the Beast and the little mermaid is more girls than boys but no negative but Aladdin is penalized because Siskel says it more for boys? hmmmm
An absolutely dreadful animated movie! Not a big Robin Williams fan, and found the animation and songs to be awful. Did not like the characters either.
As far as an overall movie goes, it's not up to Beauty and the Beast and perhaps even Little Mermaid. However, Aladdin is a very good movie and it's by far the funniest of those three movies. I like all three but Aladdin would be my favorite of the three even if it's not technically the best.
@@1981lashlarue and respectfully for me I think Aladdin suffers more than a bit because of an over-reliance on humor. Aladdin is naturally a strange mature story that Disney glosses over to give it ‘The Disney Brand.’

Disney was at a lucrative point where they were making brilliant movies for little girls that made a fortune. Aladdin was suddenly the first "new" Disney movie that really focused on prince charming instead of the princess (even though the Genie stole the show). I also don't understand why The Rescuers Down Under is always somehow forgotten with this period, which was an equally great movie that's never mentioned alongside Mermaid/Beauty/Aladdin/Lion King.
My biggest issue with it was the Robin Williams part. Too many impersonations and references that would (and did) become dated. Aladdin in clearly a film from the early 90s, while TLM and BatB are timeless, like Disney movies should be in my mind.
While I understand what you mean, I disagree about Robin's so called 'out dated' impressions. He impersonates people from multiple generations and if there is anything current generations need now is some sort of knowledge of who and what existed before them
I had mixed feelings about Robin Williams's impersonations when I first saw the movie. On one hand, I was laughing right along with everyone else in the theater. Disney’s original animated Aladdin is overrated.
