Wonderful post. I was born in Lorain at St. Joseph hospital in 1948. At 3 we moved to Flora, then to Ft. Wayne, Indiana and finally to San Mateo, California in 1956.

IMHO the metro parks remodel has nearly destroyed Cascade Park, you no longer can drive through the park, the ford to Elywood Park is gone and more bonehead decisions,. I grew up sledding down the hill (now destroyed to build access road) swimming in the city pol and visiti rhe bears , the cooler and climbing the rocks, playing on the fire engine and more.😢

At 7:50, that's me sitting on the skateboard with my best friend. Really enjoyed the music at the beginning too. The Dukes theme song with that poor guy going to jail couldn't have been better.

I remember being in the yearly kids club and having a shirt every year. I remember my last shirt was brown and my mom put all my transformers iron ons that you would get in every transformers toys box. And sitting on top of the hill and getting a cut on my wrist that still has a scar. I was probably 8. So 1985 or earlier.

Elyria born & raised but I moved along time ago. Cascade park was my escape from my narcissistic parents. I remember when they had a pool and a gutted out fire engine. I remember the bears and rolling down the hill. My sister went to school with some of the kids who spray painted the Pink Floyd rock. I remember the bears. A friend I went to school with drowned there. I was recently there and it looks nothing the way I remember it. But I have a lot of memories.

I love seeing Cedar Downs. It’s still there, and it’s my favorite flat ride.

Aug 31 1969 by researching boxscores. Gibson pitched. Reds got 5 runs in the 2nd. Both teams scored 2 in the 5th. Cardinals got 2 in the 6th 1 in the 7th. Reds won 7-5 Jim Merritt beat Gibson.

The footage of Bob Gibson and Lou Brock was obviously taken from a game in St. Louis because they are wearing their home white uniforms.
