This was helpful, the only way I could get my HD to work is to eject it through the Terminal as in the video then it mounted the next time I connected it. Thanks for sharing the learnings

Deleted my previous comment saying, after I typed the Diskutil eject way, it didn't do anything but stayed blank. After some waiting, it ended up saying "Ejected"... So It's all good now. Thank you truly for this help!

This always happens to my M1 MacBook and M1 iPad Pro. I always had to connect it to a windows machine, eject it from there and then it worked on my Mac again, which was 💩. Thanks a lot!
