In this video I explain why it’s important to clean your oil pan on a 5.4 3v after a new timing job. As well as why it’s important that you’re careful of what garage you get to do this job. Not all garages can be trusted to do it right.

Nice story about your mod 34. Just restocked a mod 34, added a Lyman peep site and am very happy with the results. Nothing made today comes close to the craftsmanship of the old walnut and steel rimfire rifles.
Same happened to my 4.6 02 150 locked up my engine
My grandpa bought one used back in the late 30s and I ended up with it and still have it. Very accurate gun compared to other newer rifiles I had. I might put a new stock on it after watching this video.
I bought one from a guy walking around the gun show 25+ years ago. I just wanted a 22 rifle, and had no idea about one rifle from another. But it looked nice, so I bought it. I think I paid about $125. I was shocked to find out how old the gun was, made back in the 1930's.
I think anyone could ask a little child, "Hey, should you engineer cheap plastic timing rails into an engine?" And he'd answer, "Are you kidding me?" Disappointed that Ford chose to do that.
They were made from 1932 to 1935.
This is so 50s
My 97-4.6 the oil gauge bottoms out when I come to a stop..I can put it in neutral and it goes back to normal.when stop light turns green..I put it in drive it also goes back to normal.. it only drops when I come to an idle.. any ideas how to fix?? Thnks
Mine got the same problem, pulling my motor back out this weekend to check the crank and bearings
Nice but that’s a Indian stock probably from a DP rifle
My 01 5.4 will have the gauge fluctuates after a cold start on a cold morning, then settles to normal once the engine warms up. Switch or pump?
Good save.
That is is so cool I'm gonna make an m1 grande
Where can I get one?
That's if you let it freeze and/or sit a long time
Great video, tearing into my 2001 4.6 this week pretty sure I will find sludge and bits of timing chain plastic guide. Mil gracias and subbed.
I want one
ok thanks ill check my oil pan
That’s called a head gasket failure, possibly due to the water pump failing. Sorry bud
Watch the whole video, head gasket was fine. The water froze and expanded the freeze plug, as far as the water pump corrosion, they probably let the water sit in the thing for long periods of time
Mine won’t go on 1st gear unless I gas it hard then it will jump and drive completely fine all gears but as soon as I go back to park it does it again.
Did you ever fix it? I'm having a same problem.
Forward drum sometimes fails where the selective snap ring sits. It gives a little, then the piston has to travel a little further, resulting in slippage until enough fluid gets under the pistion to "grab". A new updated forward drum is available that is solid and reinforced where snap ring sits. Also the TRS can be shorting out to cause nuetraling out.
So can I do this myself ???
Wow
thanks ... how large is the oil pickup screen assy ?
Was it backfire through the intake? Mine won't take gas an keeps popping nor the driver side of engine will not get hot?? Idk
you weren't kidding when you said it exploded. holy smokes..
Nice work "Cooder " ! A piece of history, and you Brought 'er back to life! ! Like 'ol Hank Junior said: a Country Boy Can Survive! Great Vid. ! Cheers!
Nice Video, thank you. About to change my oil soon and I'm definitely dropping the pan and checking like you did your other video. Just curious what year truck? I have a 2008, had a spark plug blow out, wasn't too bad to fix and replaced EGR valve. 160K miles and still purrs like a kitten.
Thank you! It was a 2002
Distilled water is what i use with concentrate?
The 3 valve engines are complete shit.
I used to make the exact same gun sounds with my mouth as a kid! Again, lot of nostalgia. My Garand was carboard, but it was good enough.
This brings back so many memories! I built a TON of guns like this, although they were much more crude, and usually not properly sanded (I didn't really like sanding as a kid :) ) I made and still have wooden replicas of: An M1919 A M1918 BAR A Kar98K An M1 Carbine An M1 Garand (this one is actually not wood, but cardboard!) An M1A1 Thompson A Mosin-Nagant (Also doubled as a M1903) A Sten gun And a Browning-Hi-Power,my favorite. I got the reference pictures and technical info like lenght from magazines and books about guns that I had.I also had a wooden walkie talkie that was the size of a brick (so pretty accurate to WW2 lol).It was a made-up U.S. Army radio type ,called the RU-M2 (Radio-Unit M2).It still has a "Property of U.S. Government" that I wrote up on it with a sharpie as a kid! Such a nostalgia trip.
I done all of them myself too! Especially the brick looking radio! Time flys lol
I would not shoot that crap through my rifle. Stick a magnet to the projectile and you will see. I'm told that Greek ammo is nothing more than a copper washed steel projectile. Learn to reload.
Your problem is a worn bullet guide, it's a timing issue. If you install the bullet guide that has the notch on the side (which is the later version HRA used),the nub on the end is built up enough to where you will not have any more wear problems on the bullet guide. That's why they upgraded that part in latter production of m1's. I'm not sure about the SF marked clip, I have no experience with these. If the problem ends up not being clipped related, it's the bullet guide. Also, you do not want to field strip your m1 after shooting every time, only about once a year or so (as long as you are not shooting corrosive ammo), field stripping too often will loosen the lockup of the stock and will degrade your accuracy
Good deal Rob
Thanks buddy!
Be nice when running again.
Yes it will!
Today in 2019, the parts are worth $300
Hi mate, the timber on your rifle is called Coachwood, you can buy a 1907 pattern bayonet on eBay
Hay man, if you are looking to give any of these away I will gladly take them off your hands for you!!! I was going to build my own but if you still have one I can take it.
Bet first gear returns like normal now. Bam.
Dang right!
Fine sounding truck. Worth fixing.
Thank you! I think so too!
Bucko!!!
Hey buddy!
Nice video!! Your rifle is the more popular Lee Enfield rifle, the no4 mk1 has better sights and was used in WW2, while the no1 mk3 was used in both world wars!!
Thank you!
I just bought a Lithgow SMLE like your rifle, I have to say the craftsmanship and love that went into this rifle is amazing!! I’m a Lee-Enfield fan for life!
Hello I’m having the same sound! Are you sure it was the torque converter? I’m about to replace it but I want to be sure first :) thank you!!!
About positive, if I was you though I’d swab the pan out, probably a lot of metal in it from the torque converter
On this truck is was the torque converter, fixed her right up
Bucko133 thank you very much it was in fact the torque converter and I already fixed it too!
Good video!
Thank you!
Good video bud.
Thank you!
Like your new into
I’m glad you like it, thanks!
You fellows look familiar. Nice video trailer.
Thank you Mr Grant haha
A Little dramatic don't ya think?
That’s the fun of it buddy! Waiting for you to drop a new video lol
@@BuckoWW2 still working on it now
Rob,I'll help you film when you become my neighbor.
Sounds good bud! I look forward to it!
I was always told that anything made after September means it's the following year model - i.e. 10/11 would be a 2012, but after running the vin and seeing it come back as a 2011, apparently that's another myth busted lol
Thanks for the comment man, that’s exactly what I’ve heard but on the title it says 2011 so all well lol I guess I heard wrong too
Awesome video!
Thank you!
