1992 series is the definitive Spectre story, it covered his entire origin and what Spectre is all about.

I wanna make this short bc I keep trailing off bad when I type this out. What I always found fascinating about this story, and then other comic stories from Marvel, DC or whichever, and that’s that; Watchmen is supposed to be the realistic depiction of a super hero. I never took it as a statement saying, they are susceptible to fascism, or have fascist tendencies. I looked at the Watchmen characters as vastly different from each other. Compare the Minutemen to Watchmen. They’re much happier about what they’re doing. Sure it was still gnarly in their day. Things could still be grotesque and dark too. But they seemed like they were happy with the idea they were helping their citizens, saving them, and over all, doing the right thing. Then there’s Watchmen. Like the bratty children to the boomer age. They either hate masks, and are happy those days are over. Or their soul has been completely devoured by the NYC streets, and they’re now just a sick, disgusting hallow shell of a psychotic, vengeful man. The most unique one, being the man-turned super being who not only gets treated like a god, but essentially has god like powers. He loses his humanity the more time goes on. You get what I’m saying. The biggest thing I took from it was, in the real world. People can still wanna do the right thing. But being a super hero? It’s traumatizing. It will change you. Someone like Spider-Man will crack less jokes as time goes on. Batman probably will succumb to murder, and start with the joker by doing so. Superman will abandon earth one day, and leave it to eat itself. And the worst lesson of all. I learned that some people will dress as a hero, just to torture heart and take advantage of more and more people. The comedian reminded me of someone like Bill Cosby, in spirit. Someone who hides behind good agendas, to do bad evil deeds. I learned that the real world, is even too dark for a concept like Super heroes. But I still always believed in good man. I think the most powerful phrase a comic reader can think of, is “With great power” and you know the rest. Am I sayin go dress up and fight crime and shit? Hell no. I’m saying. If there’s ever a chance to do good. Any kind of good. Do it. Because maybe that extra dollar you by got, or the extra will, the caring heart, whatever it is that makes you passionate. That’s your super power. Use it responsibly.

The problem here is Moores argument is very generalized… any actively chooses not to elaborate on it

The guy fighting Supes was seen in a behind the scenes shot looking like Black Noir but with a “U” on his chest. Some speculation online that he’s “Ultraman”, a clone who will deteriorate into Bizarro.

Anybody remember some anime where the robot pilots are showed when their die , for example cut in half inside the cockpit. It was pretty brutal , I never find out what series was . I was a kid then .

Its not blow your mind amazing but already 100x better than the Acolyte. Its geared towards the kiddos, but it's a nice little gap show until the next mandalorian

Media that is put out by Star Wars, HAS always been for mass consumption! Star Wars has ALWAYS had representation for various people and as times change, that representation has grown. This is good, even though it is a KIDS show, I am enjoying it.

This show has been delightful. This recognizes Star Wars’ roots while doing something different. Here, they have some naive, endearing and slightly annoying children that are thrust into an adventure. We have seen this before with Anakin, Luke, Ahsoka and Omega. What’s great is that we haven’t seen this type of adventure in Star Wars before. It’s showing the pirate element in a galaxy far far away and we haven’t seen too much of that yet. My hope is that we see growth from all of the children as time goes on. They can’t be the same people they were when the story wraps. Overall, I’m having a blast while watching this and I have some theories but we will see how this pans out.

Fans can do some good. I'm a Browncoat. It was a fan based letter campaign that convinced the studio to fund Serenity. We wanted more. The important point is that fans receive and the artists provide. When Bob Dylan went electric, many "fans" dropped him, how happy were those who listened to the artist's new form of expression?

Zach Snyder just skipped over the whole last book in the dark knight returns where bats says "these are the weapons of the enemy" and made a movie based off a misunderstanding. If he killed, the joker wouldn't be alive and Jason Todd would be. These people gave him millions to do it. Woof

It's become tiring as someone who is pretty ideologically opposed to Alan Moore how much i have to defend him to discuss any of his work because so much said about him isn't even accurate. This is baffling as where i'm sitting Alan Moore is about as subtle as a hammer.

This is such a brain dead take. You and moore are clearly so sucked in to politics, and in your case hating rich people, that you have no clue what you’re talking about. Batman is not a billionaire. Bruce Wayne is, is Bruce Wayne Batman? No. As he said in the trilogy you criticize but must be unaware of “anyone can put on the mask” although normally we would see “cowl” instead of mask, that has happened more than once. From Terry Mcguinness to nightwing it has happened before. So much hate, that you either don’t know or forgot how to love these stories and characters in the first place.

It was a mixed bag for fans. You either loved it so much that you becale a fan or hated it to a point where you stopped reading xmen forever. I genuinely enjoyed it as my first and only xme era.

All hail The Cryptkeeper! Yeah, I'm letting my freak flag fly by praising an animatronic anti-hero. I'm aware of his E.C. Comics origins. As an 80's child, my introduction to him was the great HBO anthology series. I make no apologies in praising a well written piece of fiction. Even its Cable Television counterpart. Took the time to purchase the complete DVD series. I occasionally pop one into the DVD Player and watch the uncut entertainment. Not really making a point one way or the other. Just wanted to say here in 2024 that some IPs are better left alone. Now, let's make sure fellow TALES FROM THE CRYPT contributor Robert Zemeckis stays alive so a certain trilogy doesn't get bastardized!😂❤

I don't think "creators" applies to TV and movie producers and scriptwiters who set out to destroy source material that they are "adapting" because _they_ hate it, and hate its fans, while trying to make money off those fans. That's toxicity with real power, and it's just used to vandalise stories and offend fans as an aim in itself. That, and AI, is why Disney is dying, which, for the record, it has always deserved ever since it was founded by a noxious anti-communist, anti-semitic, racist bigot and world-historically shitty boss. Hollywood has been ruining traditional stories and crudely stereotyping other countries and cultures forever. This is just the current iteration of Hollywood ruining books, folkstories, myths, legends, scripture and nursery rhymes, through the combination of crass profiteering and ignorance. Where before they were stereotyping other countries and cultures, now they are stereotyping and aiming to offend and "re-educate" the domestic Western public using the full might of the machinery of cultural imperialism that resides in Hollywood, guided by the full weight of their multi-graduated-yet-badly-educated snobbery and contempt for the masses.

The good old days did not exist. That's precisely the problem with conservatism -- defending a status quo without recognition of its own negatives. Some people quit consuming superhero fiction when they get older and start seeing it as unbelievable. Some people just criticize the new releases as though the older works they idealize were more believable objectively and not just because they were younger at the time. Yet the fact is that some older people were critical back then of the same older fiction when it was new for the same reason that it did not live up to even older stuff. If you actually do try to create superhero fiction yourself, one of the things you find out is how difficult it actually is to produce anything that cannot be criticized.

Both sides have become toxic. Until a balance is found the industry will never grow and survive. Some fans need to chill out and grow. Pros need to realize not to antagonize fans who keep the industry on life support and just work.

First, when a system fails to serve the people -- they will seek to overthrow it. How will that revolution manifest? Like the American Revolution? Like the rise of the N*zis in the 1930s? Like the rise of religious fundamentalists in Iran? We don't get to choose. All I'll say is - it ain't magic. It's socio-economic conditions. And if you support a system that refuses to fix those conditions, then you are compliant in fueling the rise of that, as you call it "toxic ideology." Your logic is flawed on several points. You are engaging in a tactic often embraced by fascists. Slandering an entire group based on the actions of a few. (I guess you're also unaware of the Julian Assange emails which revealed a despicable tactic of corporations and political parties in which they hire marketing firms who employ troll farms to attack people with r*cist and s*xist vitriol, thereby giving the company a scapegoat. So, much of the toxic social media has been bought and paid for by the corporations they appear to attack.) And you say that people have the right to not like something. So what makes them "toxic." That they vented their feelings on the social media? You end talking about the "culture war." Which is not driven by dissatisfied fandoms. It's driven by mainstream media. Why? Because it's profitable. Platforming hate generates clicks. Eyeballs. Engagement. That generates ad revenue. And there's a great byproduct for the elite: having us divided and fighting each other keeps us from focusing on uniting to fix the real problems in the system. Health care. Affordable housing. Police reform. Things that polling shows VAST MAJORITIES of Americans want but don't get. Because the system is broken.
