Shirley is too humble to say this but Karen actually got some chops from her too!!! If you listen to Karen's vocals before Shirley came around and then listen to Karen's vocals AFTER Shirley came around, you can definitely hear that the influence was definitely NOT one-sided. They exchanged ideas. Karen started doing riffs that were already in Shirley's vocabulary before she got around them. But you would have to really know their voices pre-80's to appreciate this.
