Great little video bud, love the channel here's to a great 2025 to you, merry Xmas all the best to you and yours
Thanks for the kind words, all the same back to you have a good one!
I’m going to try there at the weekend
Well done lads, nice to see a couple of decent cod landed, There's always a chance of a proper lump from that area. Subscribed. 👍
Cheers pal! Fished really well recently, had a 10.8lber out last week too
Would love to catch a cod like that. I fish there now again but just pollack (odd decent one ) whiting and eels for me . Enjoyed the video 👍
Keep trying bud there coming out had a 10.8lb last week too. I’ve tried to catch other species but can’t get any haha
Great fish. Remined me of fish from our marina the scale pattern on them. Fish of a life time
Thanks pal! Had that one and a 10.11lb cod last week over the moon
Quality mate well done
Can’t wait for a colab dude! 😁😎
@@Ukpredatorfishing Gonna be epic!!
they look like sores , diseased fish
Great fish! Whereabouts in the Uk are u fishing, Scotland, NE??
North west, Cumbria
Cod of a life time we have to have a massive sea to catch anything like that in the north east its like a milk pond i cant believe it well done mate top rods
Where in north west cumbria is this i fish Dumfries and galloway usually balcary .. portpatrick.. portwilliam @Ukpredatorfishing
No way thats Cumbria?
Thought exactly the same.
Great content
Naughty fish that
Next time mate!!!! Next time!!. Literally 1 week later and you would be sick of catching cod. Soon as that storm passed it was CodCity mate. One of them things eh.
One of them eh pal, that’s fishing 😂😁
Nice cod that Ricky👌 I swear by using tip tape and your video proved it haha you was never finding you tip without it😂
I was absolutely made up when I seen it haha
Sometimes rockling is good bait for cod. Congrats for the PB 👏👍
Thanks mate hope you enjoyed!
Well done on the cod 🎉 glad you now have my number so anytime you want a trip on my boat in Morecambe Bay for free your welcome 👍
Thanks mate! I’ve sent you a text the other day pal did you get it?
@ I’m in Singapore so send us one on wats ap 👍
Just goes to show Ricky you can have all the right gear right tide right bait and sometimes it just don't happen 😉 well done for the effort and a nice pb cod for the perseverance tight lines buddy cheers martyn van life fisherman
Absolutely mate I was fuming, from the lowest low to a huge high haha!
@Ukpredatorfishing I bet you were
beautiful markings on that ray
Too many commercials and illegal activity, no invested approach post Brexit, it’s almost if successive governments and civil servants want to destroy our fish stocks. All the IFCAs want to do is hammer RSA…
Our coast is doomed. The cod aren’t around in the North East either-there used to be so many more of them. As you said, you've got to be the one angler out of 100 to catch a cod because they're so thinly spread. Personally, I’ve stopped targeting cod because you’re more likely to catch something else. I think it’s due to rising sea temperatures and bottom trawlers. I tried for cod in West Scotland too with no luck, as well as at various marks around the North East: low water rock marks, cliff marks, deep water rock marks, and piers. A few weeks ago, I went to the Isle of Man for a couple of days, and there are so many pollack there, you get one after another. This could be because they’re semi-pelagic fish, so they’re less affected by bottom trawlers compared to cod. Because of all this, I feel like the UK is becoming more suited to summer fishing, and lures are becoming more effective than they used to be, since you can target more species in the summer now. I find flapper rigs with smaller hooks work better than pulley rigs, as smaller fish don’t create enough tension to hook themselves-so it’s better to catch something than nothing. 35cm size limit for cod? That’s tiny-hardly a decent fillet. And yet, the regulations are so much stricter for sea bass. But honestly, I don’t think this will make much of a difference to the cod population with bottom trawlers still around. One solution to the winter problem could be embracing eating more whiting, like Scotland, Ireland, and other countries do. In America, flounder is eaten all the time.
Hi there, I’m from Morecambe Bay and I have a boat, not done much cod fishing but if you fancy a trip out for free then your welcome
That would be great. I’ll pay for the fuel or supply bait though only fair! If you have Facebook give us a message (Ricky baker)
@ I’m not on facebook but I can ask my daughter to message you are you on LinkedIn
I’m not unfortunately, ask your daughter too and I’ll drop you a text if you like. Cheers mate
My daughter has sent you the message pal
When was this session mate? Did you figure out the lack of Cod?
Couple nights ago, the cod are around it’s just there’s that few it’s pot luck on where you will find them all over the west coast, there’s that many marks suited for them, just about picking the right one on the day
@@Ukpredatorfishing Just to note the fish you did catch have no swim bladder therefore not bothered by pressure changes 😉
Deeper water you think then? Had no luck at st bees last week either. Going north east tomorrow so hopefully that will pay off
@@Ukpredatorfishing Deeper water this time of year is where the crabs head out so that'll add that issue to the mix. I reckon barometric pressure was the issue. Flatties also don't have swim bladders so it wouldn't bother them either. Conditions were spot on and the only thing I could think of is pressure.
@@richardjones2811I’d have thought they would be at st bees, fairly deep there, will keep trying anyway, cheers for the pointers!
Nice one mate. Too scared to go down there these days. First went down there with my dad in the 70s before the chains or rope were there. Can’t believe I used to do it after watching your video. Keep going cos I’m sure you know you will get cod down there. Good luck pal.
I have had a lot of success in the past there so I’ll definitely be back! I wouldn’t like to do it with no chains or rope though 😂 thanks mate!
That whole area is one of the worst in England unfortunately,a desperate place.Plagued with rays and dogfish and tiny pin whiting, cod once a blue moon.,overfished by trawlers years ago like most places in that area.,bass in summer along with a few pollack.
I have to disagree on that, I’ve had some brilliant sessions on there, plenty of summer cod, mackerel, pollock and plenty coal fish. Just a shame cod aren’t here in numbers yet for the winter
@@Ukpredatorfishing Youl be disagreeing with every other local angler too then.If you think putting 30hours and more for a couple of 2lb codling is great then party on pal.Cod were non existent this summer, (local competitions with 60 anglers and no codling)coalies there average around 1lb.,bass can be ok,for pollack- better by boat which is how I fish that area average 1-2lb,a true utopia for dogs and skate. The local lad called Robson has SeafishingCumbria channel on here spends his life down there-for little reward.
North Wales is producing some good Cod at the moment along with Codling.
I’ve seen a few posts from the west coast up and down, for me it’s shorter to head to the east coast than most places so I’ll venture over there very soon
@@Ukpredatorfishing Bit more common on the East coast I'm sure but a better sense of achievement round these parts. Anywhere from the Mersey to Anglesey has Cod at the moment. Exciting times changing the Smoothhound and Bass hunt for Cod.
I guess your right, I’m based in the south lakes so everywhere’s a drive for me, most locally is morecambe/barrow I tend to head up Cumbria abit as there is a few showing up there too. Just don’t get the numbers we used roo
Also nice sized ray and some great colours in it😊👍👍
Mint video Rick's I'm glad I've seen that mark before I went with you.I'm scared stiff of heights😂 that would have been a wasted trip for me 😂😂😂😂😂. Great quality video 👌👌
Haha it’s not for the faint hearted bud, worth it though most of the time 😂 cheers Vern!
Climbing up is 10x worse 😂
Not the nicest is it pal 😂
Very nice ray Ricky, well done 👍
Thanks mate! 😁
St bees heads always been a good cod mark bass pollock and ballon wrasse too
Yeah I’ve had some really good success in the summer
Cracking fish mate, and fair play that looks a graft getting on that mark well done 🎣👌
Could have sworn it was a cod from the bite 😂 took line! It can be very productive and always gives out at least something. If you fancy a go there give us a shout pal I’ll come with you. 😁😎
Nice one marra 👏👏 thinking of having a go next year for the first time.. thanks for that 👍 take it your based in Morecambe or silverdale,arnside..all the best from Heysham.. Lincoln 👍

Well done pal great video. I slept in my car in April in the Cairngorms and it was bloody cold 😂
Cheers mate! I was freezing like, only took one sleeping bag so it was my bad! Will be more prepared next time 😂
@ I was the same 😂 it wasn’t a thermal sleeping bag anyway 😂😂😂

no ray this time ricky nice dover sole though maybe on your next trip buddy keep the vids coming mate cheers martyn van life fisherman 👍👍
Thanks mate! It’s fairly challenging at the moment. 😁
@Ukpredatorfishing it is mate I'm going to try braystones next trip that produced good sized cod a few years ago 👍
Good luck mate!
Well done Ricky Scotland is a great place for fishing I will be going back to the mull of Galloway soon the only downside is it's a 4 hour drive keep up the great fishing buddy
Yeah long drive, will be back at some point for sure!
@Ukpredatorfishing tight lines bud
Another good video, only one negative and it applies to lots of other U Tubers and that is if the fish is to be returned, when showing the fish to the camera, it helps to keep them on the hook so that it doesn’t riggle out of your hands.
Can’t argue with that, wrasse are spiky little things, did go back safely thankfully though!
Nice one mate and congratulations on the new sponsor that's a top company to support you, nd well deserved mate 😊👌🎣🎣
Thanks buddy! Keep going with yours too, you e had some nice fish this year 😎👌🏻
@Ukpredatorfishing thanks mate will do, find it hard sometimes, especially if people are about, just keep on going though eh mate, I will get there one day 🎣💙👊
Can be very awkward at times haha, we will have to get out soon 👌🏻
@@Ukpredatorfishing yeah mate hope so 😊
Looks a very forgiving rod, should your casting not be greatest.
Hi I was the lad in the background 😊 thanks for the juicy worms they definitely helped. You got yourself a new sub.
Anytime! Cheers bud
Dog fish feed in packs it's a wonder you didn't get half a dozen well done Ricky and keep them coming tight lines cheers martyn

I seen that video on Facebook, was awesome. I’m telling you as soon as you target something they just disappear 😂 normally get plagued with thornbacks although there seems to have been a much lower number this year! Cheers mate
@Ukpredatorfishing always the case isn't it mate, im possibly out high water Friday evening with fish baits again for the Huss but a conger will also be welcome. Hopefully get some filming done there also 🙏
