Италия

On this channel I renovate an old stone house in Italy, tend to the land and a bit of bonsai. I'm still a beginner in these subjects, but strive to learn as I go. I've moved from Denmark to Tuscany in Italy, to pursue the dream of coming closer to nature.
I'll be posting all the projects I do weekly every sunday.
Hope you'll enjoy it.

#39 Frustrating Week: Hanging Lamps, Fixing a Window And Emptying Stables
I do a lot of boring stuff that I have been postponing for quiet a while; such as fixing the broken glass in our bedroom window, hanging lamps and emptying the stables so we can begin renovating soon. Also I plant some trees, do a bit of bonsai, have a look at the renovation plans and other small projects. In the end the video end up being a bit tragic comic, so that is fine..

#12 Guy painting for 18 minutes, most exciting video yet?
I would like to have a bonsai maple tree but they are impossible to find where I live.
If you ever come to Tuscany you can have one, I grow them from seeds and cuttings, pretty easy ones you get the hang of it.
Keep on keeping on my young friend! We have 1600 feet of basement that I am working on making a bathroom, workshop, and sewing room for my wife. I will be 81 the end of October. Cheers! 🤠
I will, it can't always be fun. 1600 square feet, now that is a proper basement. I guess you are a great example of the fact that if you keep yourself busy you'll age like a fine wine. Good job Tom!
Sorry for your frustration wit the lamp. Have you tried plastic anchors that expand when you run the screw in?
Yea some days are like this. Yes I used those, the plaster is just very fragile but I'll try some different kinds when the lamp has fallen down.
Good morning. Coffee with you and Martin! You may want to put some wax on the bottom of the drawer so it slides easier. 😏
Morning Tom, I can see that you'll have to wait with Martijn, hope I'm enough until tomorrow. You think I can use a candle?
I have lived almost two years in my current house and still have lights to hang. Although it is frustrating you are unable to work on the things you want to when the weather turns, all those small things you do inside and in clearing up do stack up and make your life more comfortable one step at a time.
Totally agree, these projects are great for postponing. But when you are done, it will indeed feel very good.
I love that spot in the sun on a small table YOU make me jealous You guys are great
It is a nice little place for a break, I'm glad you also enjoy our breaks.😉
I enjoyed the video. Beautiful place to live too.
I'm glad you enjoyed it Mark, I actually just gave up on this tree as a bonsai a couple of days ago and planted it in our garden, hopefully it will make a great garden tree. We enjoy living here, it is very beautiful.
"0m40s" I`ve seen him do this before
Hahahahaha
clearing out basements, garages etc. is always a project I personally procrastinate but it so nice and rewarding when those things are done. Great job, can't have been nice a job with all the dust and cobwebs. Hope you feel better soon!
It is nice and rewarding indeed, just needed to get it over with. No it wasn’t too nice.. I think I prolonged ny sickness a bit with the mast.
Oh Christen, now I have to catch up watching all your videos!!🥰 which I don’t mind at all.
Haha Woop, you are the best! Thanks for the follow on insta and all the likes. Much love
24:01 that there is a fire salamander🦎 it’s so beautiful! Thank you for this video . I truly enjoyed the beautiful views from the hike . And congratulations again 💑 on your nuptials.
So beautiful indeed! It was a pleasure making it, I'm just happy you want to watch it. Thank you so much 😊
Congratulations to you both 😊
Thank you so much 😊
How are the Newly Weds doing? 😂 A battery Kill switch is always a good idea. I just replaced the battery in our 2020 Ford Edge. $400.00, Included disposal of old one! 😢 You should make a didgeridoo out of the larger Bamboo! 😂
Hi Tom, we are very good, still a bit overwhelmed but in a good way. I've also been a bit under the weather, I think my body finally saw it's chance to get sick after the last couple of months work. Exactly I figured it was a good idea to install a kill switch, when I'm going into a period were I won't be using it much. Yiiks, prices are just going up these days, I wonder who is making that profit? 🙃 The didgeridoo suggestion is hereby added to my notes, thanks 😆
Congratulations! What a beautiful beginning to the next chapter in your lives.
Yes indeed, that is a great way of putting it! I've got a lot of work ahead of me.
Congratulations again! The two flies one smack is also a dutch saying, in English it goes "killing two birds with one stone" or that is the one that comes to mind. Cool gifts and can't wait to see what you do with the stables.
Haha, thank you and thanks for the correction, maybe I'll try to make it trend in English. Can't wait to get started either, we'll have a meeting this week with the contractor.
Congratulations mate! That's excellent news
Thanks mate, glad to hear that you are alive 😅
What a lovely property and land, love and best wishes for your future endeavours. The setting for the wedding is beautiful, what a lovely couple you are.XXNorma England.❤❤
Thank you so much Norma, you are far too kind!
Thank you for your responses👍🏽 I pray you get no rain! And it will be sunny 🌞 all day . Have a wonderful wedding you both and hire a videographer 😉
@@woop2235 Ofc, least I could do when you took you time coming up with great questions. 😊
Yesss 🔥 Oh man that olive oil is going to be incroyable, can't wait
Hope it is going to be good, maybe not since it my first time, but I'll get there some day😅
Hope you had a beautiful wedding day with all your friends, family and loved ones. Thank you for sharing!
We did have a great day both weather wise and love wise😊

Thank you for saying that Norma, I'm sure it will be great! ☀
It is looking great! Keeping my fingers crossed for you guys to have excellent weather on your wedding day. Such days fly by, make sure you also enjoy every moment.
Thank you so much for crossing fingers, right now the weather forecast looks fine, no rain. We'll try to enjoy it as much as possible, even though time will fly as you say. 🤞
You must have been a Boy Scout, "Be Prepared!" Best wishes for you and your bride. Praying for good weather. 😊
Haha I was a boy scout, good observation, probably why I love nature so much. Thanks for the prayers Tom, we're going to need them! 😊
Haha, you are very right, it is just hard to be yourself on video. I have to work on that. I did say that yes but I hope that it is obvious that it wasn't too serious. 😄
I really enjoyed the banter with you and Kasper. It shows more of your personality. Just remember, you are always your own worst critic. Showing the imperfections makes it more realistic and relatable. All these things you make are done by handcraft. They should have character. If everything were perfect you could've bought it in a factory, it is part of the charm. Give yourself some grace! the land is really taking shape for the wedding. Looking forward to seeing all the lights hung as well. Enjoy the process!
You got it spot on as always Tamara. I will enjoy the process thanks for the insightful comment!
Hallo mein fruend, vielen danke. That is as far as my German goes these days, I've forgotten it all for italian. I'm glad you enjoyed the fooling around me and Kasper did. Also you are spot on about the fact that I should be my self instead of trying to be Martijn. 😅
Bravo mi piace stai facendo molto bene 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Hi, I have Danish ancestors, my great, great grandparents came to the USA ,their name was Christensen. I have a few more questions for you… What is the altitude of your property? That big olive tree you collect a while back, have to check to see if it is alive? Also, you seem to be good at cooking as well as everything else and you appear to enjoy it a lot. I think you could do some cooking segments.
That is very cool, there are a lot of these migration stories. Cool to look at the past sometimes, there is a lot to learn. I'll add these good questions to the list😊
Question : When is the BIG DAY? 🙂
The 14th of September 😀
I like everything they have achieved in this place!! you are very creative!!! you are an adorable couple!!! Congratulations!!! Question: Do you plan to expand the growing area or try different varieties? Do you have a flower garden? Virtual hug from Patagonia Argentina
Thank you so much, good questions, we really want to see Patagonia one day. Virtual hug back.
You are so creative with the way you re-make furniture pieces. I just love it. Question, what is your back up plan for if it rains on your wedding day? Question, are you planning to start a family right a way? Question, can you elaborate on the B & B you mentioned earlier on? Question, do you have a job that you work?
Love your creativity! I'm fascinated by your bonsai. Why don't you have your bonsai in front courtyard for all to see? Also, would be interesting to see rest of tiny village. i enjoy your videos and look forward to your next creations! :)
Thank you so much for saying that. Good idea actually, I might go around the town some day, talk about our relation to the small spots here and there.
i hope yu gave the kittens away rather than drowning them??????????
What country were you and your fiancé born? Where did you meet and how long ago? Why did you move to Italy? How did you meet Martijn Doolaard? Do you live far from Martijn? Is Martijn invited to your wedding? Did you plan a honeymoon and where? And last but not least, will you do more projects to the house? Thank you for sharing your beautiful views to us. I really love the mountains!❤️
Thanks for all the good questions woop, I really appreciate it.
What do mean done better?!! 9:25 I think it looks rustic and lovely👍🏽😉🥰 you made it and that’s what is important! Kudos to you Christen💯
Thank you, I think you have a good point there. 😊
Love the upcycle on the table! For a Q&A: what made you guys decide to move to Italy and how /what you prepared for your move. Also, where did you pick-up all the skills for all your projects? Curious to find out how you got into bonsai. Are you longterm planning to airbnb for example of where you more planning to remodel for guests? Sorry, a million questions..
Thank you, I like the recycling aspect a lot, also we are kind of forced to do it, because of limited funds. Definitely a chance to be creative. 😊
Watching from this angle @ 5:50 I can see the vision of your project. And in my eyes it’s going to be beautiful, especially when it is decorated for a wedding 🥰🥰🥰.
Thank you, I sure hope so.
That pool/jacuzzi looks inviting 👍🏽💯 I love it!!💧
It is very inviting, and we have really been needing one.
love the redneck pool! Sometimes people cut up pool noodles to cover the sharp edges in case you need it. Great job on the fencing. Over time you have cleaned up so much of the land. Can't wait to see what you do next.
Haha thanks my friend, that is a great idea. I'll buy some next time I'm in a store. The fencing is really needed, the animals keeps eating our vegetables.
Good morning Christen👋🏽🥰 I don’t know your fiancée name🤷🏻♀️ good morning to her also from Virginia USA!
Sorry for the late good morning, but good morning, my fiancées name is Stine.
Hola chicos, mejor bailar un twist😂😂 un abrazo ❤❤❤
Forse diventerai un ballerino bravo 💪💪
Forse si, ma probabilmente no.😂
29:00💃🏻🕺🏽 I got a good chuckle watching you both dance🥰😂
Also me, my better half is miles ahead of me, probably obvious from the video. 😅
Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials 💑
Oh Christen I’m so glad I follow you because it’s so interesting to see how other humans live around the world. Especially in the mountain regions🥰. The pergola is coming along great and you made it with bamboo which makes it that much more lovely 😊 thank you for sharing your love for the land and building beautiful things on it❤️
Thank you so much for this comment, really makes what I'm doing worth it.
If the wedding takes place in Italy and most of the guests at the wedding are from Denmark, should the menu also have Italian food, so that the guests can try something new and not what they usually eat in Denmark? Besides, Italy has good food, especially the traditional ones. I'm just saying.....😁😎🤠
The menu is going to be a fusion between Italian and Scandinavian cuisine (probably mostly Italian). Our friends (the chefs) have a great appreciation for the Italian kitchen and know it very well.
@@ChristenThykjaer Excellent 🤓👍
Pergola looks amazing. If the middle sags, please use triangles instead of poles in the middle. I think it would be a shame to lose the open space of it all. Have a great trip!
Thanks Tamara, "middle sags", glad I learned a new phrase today, sounds way better than my mumbling sentence. I totally agree, hope the triangles will been enough.
