3:50 you know you’re a freaking amazing player when even Joey smiles and grooves to you like that.
how old are THE genius here???

The amount of talent in this video is asymptotically approaching infinity...
What a gem! Beautiful tone and phrasing form Bolla, very clever and Monkish from Alexander.

Joey Alexander.
Never ceases to amaze !!!!!!!!!!!
Aint it SO!!! The kid wonder on the drums.... the magician on the keys.... and funky fingers on the bass..... this turned UP!!!
Listening now 8 years laterIt’s just as great, fills me with joy. Thanks to all who put the show together!
Ok, we all agree on the prodigy of Joey, but that boy Niclas Bardeleben is an ABSURD of a drummer. What a trio.
3:42 show me a cooler left hand
Membanggakan
The finesse and interpretation that he’s able to attain at such a young age makes me think again about the supernatural.
Finesse is not a word you usually associate with a kid. But Joey had it even at that age.
The bass solo at min. 7:20 is literally embarrassing. I felt ashamed for him. At this point I believe that the bass solo is made to enhance the other instruments.
Drummer is not good enough for Joey either
@@gabebabe1 Joey was amazing at that age and certainly a genius, probably the only true genius I've ever known so far. It's a shame that like all precocious geniuses he got lost along the way. Now he is certainly an excellent pianist, very technical and advanced, but in my opinion he has lost that brilliant spark and that simplicity that made him play the piano with incredible taste.
It felt to me that he was showing off to impress Joey. I don't know about Joey but I was not impressed.
It's an amazing concert and bass and drums are wonderful too.
Justin Roiland on sax lady's an gentleman
🙄🌼🌱💙
Где он научился так играть,у кого? Кто первый учитель?
Joey is self taught though his dad had a lot of records.
No teacher !
Браво! Великолепно!
Amazingly he's self taught.
Превосходно! Необыкновенное чувство ритма, гармонии! Очаровательный мальчуган! Счастье для родителей.
Amazing ❤❤
Музыканту на ударных - Браво!
Время летит быстро. Поражает способность Джоуи, когда концерт идёт первый раз, второй и последующий.,т. е. .способность воспроизводить музыкальную информацию сочинения при игре с ансамблем.
Still coming back to this in 2023

Who on earth is this piano player? He’s incredible!!!!!!!!!
He’s the most talented jazz musician on earth - and a lovely human. We’re very lucky to have him.
Whe are listening to a new Oscar Peterson here....great...

Joey Alexander from Indonesian country.. Multy talented of the Indonesian human
Ya elah komennya norak bangat tong..
One of the best and nice versions…beautiful piano impro lines…
Bali itu Indonesia... Bung. ... Bukan kaya Woshington ama Brazil... Atau Meksiko... 😃😃😃 hos harus kridible juga pengetauan nya...
Excellent example of natural genius at work, how to build a piano solo: Joey starts sparsely, building each chorus adding texture, dynamically growing into creative techniques in his LH too! It's hard not to focus on the fact that Joey Alexander is only about 11 (I'm guessing) and hearing the maturity of his ideas simultaneously. He unassumingly just "feels the music" and plays!
You are absolutely right ...the hardest thing in jazz is to build a solo ,to increase the intensity every time you go round the form ...you need so much harmonic knowledge in your locker plus a gift for making the right musical decisions on the hoof ....this is the sort of stuff you can't teach...it comes from within...I'm guessing all these are just natural musicians ...that's just the way it is 🙏🙏🙏
@@davidscott1052 Yes! A teacher can tell a student these things about "how to build a solo", but if they don't intuitively feel it inside first it will probably sound forced... Unlike Joey here!
@@DebbieDenkeMusic I never said you can teach how to build a solo.quite the opposite..its something which comes from within ,a teacher can teach you theory but how you apply it is you decision Go back re Read ...have a nice day🙂🙂🙂🙂
@@davidscott1052 I think we are actually in agreement here - not arguing with you David. As a jazz piano teacher I may suggest to my students techniques to think about when building their solos (once they reach a certain level of knowing chords, piano improvisation skills, and finding good sounding note choices etc.) Examples like, "Start with using space & grow by building sequences, faster note values, longer phrases, using more range, more accents & volume, grow from single notes to a fuller texture". I share with my students these ideas, and hope they can experiment and apply some of them. BUT I think we both agree no one had to tell Joey Alexander to do any of this: He probably just listened to some great musicians, and instinctively knew what to do in a musically mature way, starting at a very young age. That's the difference between natural musical genius, versus a well taught & highly skilled musician who practices hard to sound their best.
@@DebbieDenkeMusic see what you mean...just seems a bit of a misunderstanding couldn't have put it better myself...have a great day...from over here in the UK 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Que lindeza! Uma verdadeira obra prima. A primeira vez que ouvi esta linda música, foi ao som do exímio tenorista Michael Becker! Bela interpretação desses dois músicos!
Jazz can be great with this lil guy
Just caught Joey live for the first time here in Washington DC last Friday ... I have been following him for a while now but seeing him live ... wow ... what a talent!!!!
Now I can't go out cause too green (... with envy). The first time in Europe in the summer of 2014, when Joey visited Denmark, I didn't know about him yet and the USA was too far for me.
I live in DC, I'm looking for his tour schedule because I would love to attend his concert. I just found out about him on YT Jarasum Jazz Festival. I cried 😢
yep.
SUPERB. SO much soul!
