I came accross a bunch of old M39 rucksacks, also known as älgpungen (~moose's nutsack). The rucksack modell was issued in 1939 and the ones I got have seen military service and have been stored for decades as well. (We) Germans like to have bread for dinner and I can’t see anything wrong with this. So I enjoyed a wonderful Abendbrot (evening bread) with some field made bavarian cream cheese. There are dozens of recipes out there but as I can see it I kept my version close to he original except for butter hat I left out. On one of my latest canoe trips I not only tested how it feels to swim in full clothes but also stitched some improvised shoes while my boots were drying (Chapter 1). I even mixed a herbal salve - from comfrey leaves, oil and beeswax - which says to be helpful for bruises and muscle pain (no advice here!).
