Nice video!
I am confused between rheem 180L ambi power and istore 180l. Rheem is 600$ more than istore .Please advise. thanks.
There are lots of reasons for cost differences between products. Our differences are more associated with what the product costs us from the specific manufacturer.
Thanks for the well considered presentation. 👍
Useless
Hey guys, just stumbled across this. Great info. We're in Nth QLD and tossing up between instantaneous electric or stored. Can a single phase instantaneous be fitted outside? Or in a meter box as weather protection?
Depends on the product for outdoor installation. I would suggest the switchbox as a reasonable option for weatherproofing. Check with local trades for best practice.

Very helpful however my lcd display doesn’t display anything when dip switch 3 is in the ‘on’ position. I increased the temp regardless (assuming it was on 48) and it seems to have worked.
When i lived in the US i had to change the anode on my tank. I've never done that in Australia. Is that normal? Do people do that here? Or do you guys do that?
Yes, we replace anodes. It isnt too common for customers to do this though.
First video I've come across on the topic from an Australian company which explains the pros and cons so well. I'm on a 27c per kWh tariff so it costs the same to heat hot water regardless of the time of day but I don't have 3 phase power in my apartment and for me (I'm also in Blacktown), it gets to around 20 degrees in the winter time in the apartment. Is that cold enough to require 3 phase power?
Yes, you woudl require a 3 phase system to keep up with what kW are required to heat the water. Would only suggest single phase systems in northern climate.

All these systems are BS. Best hot water is a Rinnai gas instant unit. No tank small size and they work great.
frikking good information here. too good. Thanks for this

Gday, which Brands and models do you think will be most easily repaired/serviced in future? Availability of parts long term would also be a big issue I imagine.
Generally servicing of quality heat pumps are minimal, relate the technology to a freezer or air conditioner. We recommend sticking to the existing brands that were doing heat pumps before the major rebates launched. Feel free to look through our website. We only deal with the exsting brands.
Thanks so much for replying. I’m leaning towards the Rinnai, Australian made, it looks repairable, metal covers and a Danfoss compressor has probably swayed me.
Best price in Australia $2300 heat pump & installed same day in WA you can’t go wrong 👍
Can get substantially cheaper than that due to the federal incentives, as well as state based incentives in Vic and NSW
thanks for the details. Do you see a problem fitting a split system to a second story balcony of a flat?
We have done balcone installs before so dont think there would be an issue. Feel free to get in touch and we can figure out.
A perfect step by step if you have the B26. Thanks guys!
Why don't you you turn the F#@king music up a bit louder so people can't hear you at all!
my tankless continuous flow gas water heater keeps cutting off and needs restarting. its only been 6 years, and my plumber says I have to buy a new Rinnai B26 one for $2000, the old one they said they don't know how to maintain so it has to be replaced. sounds expensive. my cylinder in my other house is still going strong with zero maintanace for 16 years.
Would probably get a second opinion. Continuous flow usually last upwards of 15 years with minimal issues. Feel free to reach out to ourselves for a service or another hot water specialist.
unfortunately nobody talks about how loud these are outside of a bedroom, always consider where you install them. also the water is not instant with one of these, yes it is instant in the eyes of the maker, but in the hands of a user - takes a long time for the water to flow, then the gas to start up the pilot light to light the gas, and then, as for any system, for that water to flow to the tap in the kitchen. its about 3 times slower than regular hot water cylinders. same goes when you wait for your shower to be ready to hop in using these 'instantaneous' gas systems, that are not instantaneous at the tap for the consumer, when compared to a regular cylinder.
Agree with all that you mentioned. Main benefits of gas continuous flow is that you can't run out and they are higher efficiency than gas storage.
This looks great. Thanks to your videos I've jotted you down to install one of these when my house is built in Campbelltown. We had to go with gas, but I put in a dedicated circuit and junction point for hotwater in the future so I would like to migrate over to one of these. My only concern is while all reviews are great, the one complaint is they often ship damaged units which affect aesthetics and possibly could performance. People say reclaim hasn't been that helpful to deal with either. What is your take on this? Are the new units free of dents etc.
Damage occurs in all product and the nature of manufacturers, truck drivers, forklift drivers warehouse staff and installer it is bound to happen. My advise would be simply dont accept product that is damaged from the end installer.
@@SameDayHotWaterService I reckon that installer is going to be you :) or atleast someone in your company. looking forward to getting on of these babies installed into my new house when its built.
Is this the same for the 20L thanks
yes, this should be the same if it is in the same series from Rheem.
Carbon footprint is rubbish. It's about money and also being efficient so it can be run off grid to avoid relying on the government and bullshit retailers
Excellent review and advise
Another great post! Is there a minimum distance for the outdoor condenser to the storage tank?
Hi Hamish, Is just as per the installation instructions. Reclaim ask for 150mm clearance on each side from obstructions.
Thanks so much for posting this, very useful and informative!
Legend, thank you very much
Epic
It looks like the daikin altherma system with the cylinder has the refrigerant lines going into the cylinder. That one looks interesting!
I am a single mum new house and sick of not having water hot enough, even i could follow these instructions. Thanks heaps
My kitchens hot tap was 42 degrees after running the tap for 90 seconds and using 3 litres of water, did the adjustment and now it's 48 degrees, a lot better...thanks
Cheers, even a layman can sort this!
I have a rinnai enviroflo 315. How do you adjust the heating time? Currently it starts midnight till 5 am which is not ideal… rather during the day off peak. Any advise appreciated
If you have the V3 Rinnai product (came out end of 2023) it is wifi enables and you would download the app to program timer functions. If product predates this you would need to install an external timer to program this system. Would speak to someone like ourselves or an electrician to do this.
@@SameDayHotWaterService Seems a little daft to have no onboard control
Great info mate. Appreciate the video
Great Video, super informative Tye!
i have a 390 and it's been nothing but trouble i wish i knew about this before i purchased this stupid unit. firstly, the unit delivers only just hot water, and the pressure relief valve has been replaced 3 times. After you have done a hot load of washing the pressure relief valve starts pouring out water at full force. If i turn off the intake water faucet it stops coming out of the relief valve. such a stupid unit get a 340
Sounds like you may have an intermittent overheating gas controller. The pressure temperature relief valve also has a safety feature. At 95-99 degrees the valve will dump water. May be worth getting ourselved or another hot water specialist to look at this.
Thank you so informative ❤
Is it safe to adjust while the power is on?
Works on the rinnai 26 infinity Touch.. water was only 46°, now its coming out almost 54°.. why aren't these instructions in the booklets :/ my plumber didn't test water temp at taps or anything, the controller still won't let me select 55°(controller flashes and goes back to 50) but the system sends 54° water ...
No one ever talks about how very loud these constant hot water systems are?
Unfortunately there is a sacrifice in any product decision. Could always do a storage tank and have a less efficient product.
No one ever talks about how very loud these constant hot water systems are?
How regularly do the Reclaim units need service, and whats the average cost per service?
I would probably replace the anode at a minumum. Likely cost $300-400 sounds reasonable for this.
Hi, mine one is using a lot of gas and then stops working even though gas is still left in the tank. Is there a gas pressure adjustment that may have been set too high thus when the bottle gets low the pressure is reduced and no hot water. But can still cook on the stove.....
Gas continuous flow hot water systems will generally use between 160-200mJ to run while a cooktop one burner running will be 30-40mJ. Just becasue the cook top is running doesnt mean that there isnt a gas pressure issue. To answer your question. No. n I dont believe this sort of adjustment exists.
@SameDayHotWaterService Thanks. Next question , when the gas is low in the tank does the ambient temperature affect the pressure in side the tank? That is let's say on a cold day it will not heat up the water or hot day it does heat up the water. Asking for a angry wife who always seems to be the one in the shower when the hot water stops and I am the one who gets into trouble lol.
@@seroweassociatesllc If you are asking about water pressure then now, gas pressure no as well. Componentry maybe. Colder temperatures can affect gas valves/regulators. Metals expand and contract with temperature.
Can this be installed inside a house?
Some heat pumps can be installed inside though the range is more limited. We do want to meet a certain cubic metre area in order to keep the product efficient. General rule of thumb is a minimum 2 car garage for air flow requirments.
Thanks, very helpful info :)
Awesome video. I'm concerned about all the brands that use gas r134a which has a global warming rating of 1400+. Compare this to the brands that use propane (r290) which has a global warming rating of 3, or CO2, which has a rating of 1 (such as Rheem, Aquatech, Sanden and Reclaim). Would love to hear of any others brands that use these better gasses.
The fact that we were sold on the new Refrigerant Being safe and effective (Now where did I hear that before). Over the one that the Patent expired and was Readily available and inexpensive. And not really as bad overall then what's being forced these days. :(
EvoHeat have released an R290 version now
Aquatech x6 and x8 are both R290, not CO2
Thanks mate... Very helpful
I got a 390 and I am having to change the mixing valve now because it broke. Yes, 340 is the way to go.
How do you know its broken? Or how did you notice something wasn't right?
@@MrWebertube Could not adjust mixing ratio, it was moving looser than it should and it was also leaking. Once you have the replacement the fix is quick and easy.
Not sure if Rheem is available in Australia, that's the brand I'm looking at.
Rheem is defeinityley available. Please look at the Rheem Ambiheat.
We have a b26 that was factory set to 50deg. Did this change also set kitchen master panel and still showing maximum temp 50deg We had an old rinnai infinity 20 which previously let our temp go up to 55deg
@rgoring81 no stuck at 50 degrees as the highest but after replacing hot water unit we found it to “feel” hotter so don’t need higher than 50
