I miss you Clint. I remember both 73cent rampage and Early Subseven shows at the 180 in Weatherford. I miss all of you so much as your band and all the bands you introduced me to were my gateway into the music I love and make today. Southwestern Oklahoma and the scene we had back in the late nineties and early two thousands was something incredibly special because there was nothing else like it. I will never forget those shows from the 180 to Swosu palooza to The first assembly shows to the shows even in Elk City. Massive parts in my life that shaped me into the person I am today. Forever your biggest fan, Chris Dodge.

It’s not growth but atrophy if the changes taking place are leading you to distance yourself from the truth of God revealed in his word. The gospel is an offense and it is incredibly tempting to change and warp our interpretation of scripture to appease the voices of culture around us and even our own experiences that force us to deal with the tension of what we feel to be true and what God has revealed to be true. He was very indirect in what convictions he has changed on but if you throw the label of fundamentalist on it that at the very least would start with the authority of scripture.

Been a fan of My Epic since the Undone record. It was so refreshing and a bit healing for me to hear about Aaron's faith journey. There's a lot of things I don't believe in anymore and a lot of things I now believe in. I know the unconditional love of Jesus for me and the world. Everything else is commentary. Move towards light and love and beauty. I was a naïve youth group 16 year old kid who had only heard Steven Curtis Chapman and Third Day. Then me and some friends went to Cornerstone '07 and my life changed. Probably 70% of the music I listen to today was birthed at that festival. Love the podcast. Keep it up dudes!

Ok. I remember these guys. And I thought they were good. But despite all these emo christian bands are my generation. I never had respect for them. Nor thought they were good. Clint even cussed in this interview. the Bible says in Ephesians 4:29 "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." I doubt they truly were Christian if he does that. Especially if he just laughed off the creator of xxxchurch having a cannabis business. All these emo so called christian bands didnt preach the gospel as they should, I never respected them. They write some christian stuff and then decide to experiment with other subjects. Jesus said go out and preach the gospel to every creature. "Preach the gospel" not some of the gospel. I get they want to show "hey Christians are cool and fun". I get that. And you can show that. But if youre gonna claim you are a Christian band then be Christian and preach the gospel. We have a responsibility as Christians to preach the gospel. All believers are called to preach. We may not all get called to be in ministry all of us. But every believer is called to preach the gospel of Jesus. Its not something to take lightly. And Jesus is going to call these bands on it when they are face to face with him. And there's tons of scriptures I can mention about all of this. And most of these bands wont admit this. But most of those so called christian emo bands and christian rock bands were trained by these christian labels how to answer certain questions when interviewed and trained how to write songs. So they were asked to only preach the positive stuff. But not to preach repentance or speak against homosexuality etc. And its because those christian labels sold themselves to the major labels in Hollywood. And Hollywood doesnt want that. So these bands and the labels bowed to the devil. If you go listen to John Cooper from skillet on his podcast. Him and the vocalist formally from superchik were talking about that stuff. And she made it clear those very things happened with the label she was on. Which is why she left the label. She obviously wanted to preach. The episode is called "Christian music and christianity need revival" ruclips.net/video/XJUBM96w4EM/видео.htmlsi=HUj9gFYCuNgKArcT I say its time to stop being chicken christians and preach. Jesus says in the word Matthew 10 Verse 33 "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." Yes its important to preach the love of Jesus. the uplifting things. But we are also called to preach repentance. We cannot fear outrage etc. Because Jesus said as he was preaching repent while on this earth Matthew 10 Verse 34 "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword." Forget about Christian labels and just let God promote you as you preach the gospel with no shame. The only true good and real Christian groups now are now newsboys and skillet. These so called emo christian bands need to repent.

I searched a minute, and was able to find the album I had bought online and stream it, which led me to find this video! I still remember most of the words to the songs too. The Moms. They had the purse strings and the responsibility to guide their children. But, I'm not seeing where all of this was super orchestrated with the labels and artists. There wasn't this making of boy bands like 'nsync (sp) or Boyz to men or kpop. Amy Grant, Rich Mullins, Randy Stonehill, Keith Green, MWS happened organically as far as I can tell. Moms may have had something to do with Sandi Patty or Point of Grace whom no teen willingly listened to. Questions: what percentage of those early 80s producers and artists have deconstructed? What percentage of those that still claim Christ from then to now are orthodox? I suspect very few. Or was it always just about money making ? Did she talk to Sam aka Leslie Phillips I wonder. Today: Most Moms are Swifties etc When my kids were teens in the early to mid 2000s, the other Moms didn't check ipods and didn't know the lyrics to Cr@zy B or Get Low. Today's Mom has gone to the dark side and doesn't care.

Formula 316 used to have a killer message board on their website. It had been several years post breakup of the band and I was at my In-Law's house during the holiday bored out of my mind. I jump on the computer to check my email and had the thought. . ."I wonder if Formula316 still has those message boards up." I type in the web address and the moment I hit enter, my sister-in-law walks into the room and an adult site pops up right at the same time. It was the most awkward moment of my life. No matter how you try to explain it, you'll come off looking like a wacko that couldn't wait until he got home, haha.

As someone who was around at the near beginning, these guys - Clint, Wes, Reed, Smokey, Caleb, Jacob - were such a HUGE part of my life. I traveled all over Western Oklahoma, to OKC, to Broken Arrow and a few places in Kansas to hear my friends play. From 73 Cent Rampage to subseven, from a 4 piece with Smokey to a dabble in turntables to a 5 piece with the addition of Caleb and Jacob (Jacob coming from a different West Oklahoma local band I also saw frequently) to back to a 4 piece with Sean and Evan (the last time I saw them play) I was there. I did my best to be at every show. The ones I weren't were mostly due to my mom not allowing me to go because she didn't know the driver - even when she met Clint when he offered I could ride in the famous renovated school bus. I was a server at Clint's wedding rehearsal dinner and attended Wes's wedding. I drew fan art from pictures I'd taken at a show which Clint told me he still has when I randomly ran into him at the movie theater a couple years ago. I was so saddened when they had the get together show about 10 years ago and I obviously couldn't go - being a missionary in China. Of course there would be rumblings of another get together while I'm back overseas now in Thailand. So glad to call them my friends and pray blessings over them in all they do. They deserve all the good things. I'm just one of the countless people they have touched over the years.

“The best Christian Emo Band you’ve never heard of..” Ok, accurate but I have to admit it stung a little. “Country as hell” Spot on. We practiced with John Deere tractors on the other side of the barn. Blazing hot in the summer, freezing in the winter. We did a photo shoot in the bluestem field behind the barn all the while wanting to be punk/emo/hardcore like our favorite bands. Lol. “That was the start, but that was kinda near the end” oohhhh I felt this one, I think if we could go back in time and press pause, take a breathe and a break from all the trivial BS..it might be a different story today. Thanks for caring about our music dudes. 🤙🏼 -caleb subseven
