Like! Funny enough my drives were a signal for me on the downswing hip slide happening. I must admit though that in my last round the driver ball flight (as in launch, apex and distance) was very good. Everything just leaked off the fairway to the right. Had to use my brand new pretty Ping 4 hybrid to punch my way out from under the trees on the first 7 holes, LOL :-)

Like! Came across this channel because the video was linked in the rather useful GolfFix app. It's always nice to see the instructor admitting suffering from the same tendency, and I am commenting because the "Feel" comment at the beginning REALLY worked for me. I have been focusing so much on getting my low point forward lately that I started sliding in the downswing. Most noticeable with driver, making me miss the fairway right on the first 7 holes in a round last weekend. My launch monitor one day later revealed that I kept my face open up till 3 degrees to target at impact (slightly less to path), but I could not correct it on the spot. Frustrating. I may have even included a classic mistake of trying to rotate less in a futile attempt to keep the face square to target. My natural path has always been in-to-out, so adding fade spin to that kills the FIR % pretty quickly. I didn't spot the flaw myself until I took a video again to find my lead leg not stretching (anymore). Now I never bothered about using ground force much, so I missed the fact that it was really a symptom of sliding, as GolfFix pointed out when I uploaded it (a flaw it didn't notice before my low point drill period, so it must have crept in recently). After watching the video yesterday, I went to the range today, put the tour stick under an angle with the pointy end thigh-high as a more punishing alternative to your vertical placement 🙂, and lo and behold, my pushes started straightening. Didn't feel like I started lacking compression either (quite interesting, as my most tenacious bad habit is a minute scoop at impact) I didn't have my launch monitor with me but clearly the face was much more square, so thanks Ryan!

One bad decision and one i always make when im between clubs is trying to create a shape or flight to reduce the distance , nearly always ends up with me flushing it exactly where im aiming , much better i think to play your normal shot but choke down a club , your minds telling you its to much club so it slows your tempo and creates a perfect shot . Its the same as trying to force a shot long and ending up halfway there 😮 Great play though and especially liked the not carrying those three putts onto the next tee box , another of my regular mistakes . I have quite a large collection to berate myself with as i travel from one side of the fairway to the other 🤦🏻

the slide has crept into my game at times for years but i could never really identify or figure out why and I would hit these low blocks with an open face that seemed like a shank. this is really gonna help, thnx

Watched this last night and tried it today with a short iron (PW) . Wow - amazing! Biggest difference I've ever experienced. So much more distance even with the PW.

Does it apply to driver swing?

It’s funny. I don’t know your experience but Justin Thomas swing is not doing what you are showing here. It is a symphony of a correct sequence for him. Mind you he is not the only top ball striker that does this. Shauflee, Morikawa, Speith and numerous great strikers do something similar. Your analysis is trash.

i turn a lot in the backswing and get inside too much at the top, so having the hands more in line with the heels is the ideal?
