Here's a quick tour of the damage from hurricane Helene. It could have been way worse and am blessed to have this little bit to handle. Don't let wacky weather stop you from growing your own food though.

FYI….i tried watching the live broadcast but I was unable. Would not allow me to join stating “private”.
@@scottburgle2169 so sorry about that, I thought I made it public.
@@GrowingTogetherNurseryLLCno worries. Just letting you know.

@@OrlandoBackyardGardening it's new to me but idk much.
I got to make some one day…
@@OrlandoBackyardGardening roselle jam? It's excellent and easy to make.
Glad you all are ok 👍🏼
Glad you didn’t have crazy damage… just some gansta leaners
Best of luck with the clean up, be careful with the broken hanging tree branches.
@@MRajski yeah the branch just dropped so all is well now.
Could have been worst.. blessings
@@OrlandoBackyardGardening yes sir. I think the density saved much of it from flopping over.
Glad to see you weathered the storm bro! Looks beautiful out there in the morning! You will re-build! No issues for me here in Debary. It did get windy last night though! I'll swing by and see ya tomorrow! Take it easy bro, glad to see you made it out okay! Arghhhh!

Great review, I would like to try one day. How much did the fruit cost?
@@jeremypinto3274 $90 for 3. It's an excellent fruit and thanks for watching.
Woah awesome! People rave about this fruit, it seems so strange that these house plants fruit! How exciting! That is the wildest fruit ever! Pina Colada to go please! Neat video, we got a few working, can't wait for the fruit!
@@PirateStacker There is something cool about eating dangerous fruit. Especially when the flavor hits like this. #fan4lyfe
Hello Dwayne long time subscriber here love your videos. I have a question is it safe to uproot my 7 ga!Lon mango tree now. I need to remove it to another spot. Or should I do it during spring time. Thank you. I'm in the Oviedo area.
@@edwinreyes7699 I'd do it now so it can rest during the winter but I'm not a pro. Prune it back once replanted.
Thank you for responding back will do it this week. And keep you posted.
Cast Away
Just picked up a ice cream mango from Duane today. Super nice guy, gave us a whole tour of his place. He has an amazing amount of variety for being on a smaller property. Also has some interesting graphs of multiple varieties of avocados on a single tree. Definitely looking forward to visiting again and picking up some more trees from him.

Great video. And glad that you were introduced to a good Mamey. I had the same experience with them until a few years ago when I tried a Great Mamey in south Florida. I can still taste it today 🤤

@@OrlandoBackyardGardening thanks for watching Mr Rivera. Showing what I'm growing ova hea.
Hahah one piece is great :D
Woah that apple is wild man! Justin looks like something out of a movie, awesome! That thing is neat looking, not like I was expecting at all... What's that taste like? Really interesting, what fruit would you compare it to? Justin did a good job on this... Very cool man, thanks for sharing...
@@PirateStacker Hey Pirate, I'd compare it to a pear like texture with the sweetness of a banana. Really nice fruit.
😅 Coke works better than water.
I just grew these for the first time. I tried it today and I really like it! The heat definitely comes after the first initial sweetness. 😂
@@crazyaboutcards it's my fav so far.
I have 2 Venus trees in Central Florida and I wish I had more. They are actually more of an August fruit for me. This is the first year I have used the stainless steel bags on the fruit and the squirrels have not been attacking my Venus. I still have 5 large Venus on the trees as of August 26th. Multiple of my fruit this year have been over 3 pounds. I concur that the flavor ranks at least a 9. I treasure every fruit. They are the only mango that I will ever fail to eat the entire fruit in one sitting. I also have found that they do well spending a week in the fridge after they are ripe. They will be keeping me happy into September. And they are quite precocious. I have had multiple potted Venus trees also give fruit as 2 year old trees.
Very sad. 😢 Can’t really see the extent of its injury from the video. They’re tough, it might make it. Time will tell.
@@j-deezy321 yeah it's the rear end. It's split some as if crushed or maybe a dog bite. Idk but it already left on its own.
#1 Sweet tart #2 Orange Sherbet #3 Cac #4 Cotton Candy #5 Lemon Zest. First time tasting florida mangoes but i grow them here in SoCal.
@@randomguy2246 still haven't tried CAC but hopefully next year it'll mix up the top 3 along with CeciLove.
Did you try ceci love yet?
@@Jason-wx7ms oh yeah, had it last year and it's amazing.
Thanks for sharing, you tripping Pickering over Lemon Zest and Orange Sherbet.
@@resukepowell9811 😆 I prefer coconut over citrus and I was really impressed with pickering. Let's see what happens next season.
@GrowingTogetherNurseryLLC I see...I am a citrus tone guy I got a pickering tree it's not even in my top 20. Lemon Meringue, Orange Sherbet and Lemon Zest top 3 in any order for me M4 definitely in my Top 10
@@GrowingTogetherNurseryLLC I’m the same , I think the citrusy varieties are good but you could just buy some tangerines. The tropical coconuty varieties seem unique and special.
I try to plant or graft around the full moons.... go for it
@@OrlandoBackyardGardening that's what the OGs swear by. I tend to graft whenever I get the chance but I get it.
fingers crossed for another decent Winter
Cats are very curious when we do something in the garden 😂
Great list 👍I’ve been wanting to try m4 for 2 years now 🤦♂️ My tree was too small to produce this year. Hopefully I get my hands on one next year.
@@themangovista if you love coconut, it's your girl.
@@GrowingTogetherNurseryLLC Oh yeah 👍
My list this season looks extremely similar to yours, only major change id make would be swapping #1 M-4 with Mallika. The Mallika I had this season might’ve been the best mango I’ve ever had. Also, since you love the indochinese flavor type I gotta recommend Mahachanok and CeciLove. Maha has real floral notes to it and Ceci tastes like a fruitier flavored Sweettart with subacid instead of tartness.
I tried Fairchild this year and was really impressed with it. Your list is good but I would go from the bottom up. But that’s how you know these are all great mango . You can eat them in any order. 😂 🥭 😋
@@jeremypinto3274 yup, it's tough because on any given day this list could be out of order.
Crazy that Fairchild made it that high on the list for you. It registered in the same tier as store bought mango for me 🤷🏼♂️
@@thehuntfortruth idk if yours were home grown but mine were excellent. Can't wait for next year to see what it does.
Interesting, Fairchild has been a top 3 mango for me the last two years. Only drawback to it is the seed to flesh ratio is a little poor but otherwise it’s perfect flavor and texture to me. Gotta wait for it to turn golden almost orange outside first.
@@Umbras915 I'm also probably a spoiled mango snob. I ate it in conjunction with perfect coconut cream and lemon zest mangos too. 🤷🏼♂️
@@thehuntfortruth haha yeah those two definitely effected the judgement of the Fairchild I’d say. Next opportunity you have a Fairchild mango to try, chill it in the fridge for an hour at least first. I theorize it’s one of the varieties whose flavors are amplified from refrigeration.
How can I get in touch with you?
Spicy with the notes of an old Reggae song!
I have a few BC’s in the ground and many more Kathy’s. Haven’t produced either yet in Kendall BUT I did get to taste a Kathy 3 years ago and my eyes popped out of my head….why? Because if Orange Sherbet has 3 dimensions of flavors Kathy has 5 or 6 and your mom said exactly that but in other words when she started naming the flavors. I said there were so many flavors it was not describable but your mom started naming them. This was so great to hear someone confirm that. Your mom is stuck on Cary because she probably grew up with them and Cary for her is way more than a mango. For her it is home and her heritage and when one understands this they understand that Kathy is the greatest tasting mango when ripened the way you accidentally ripened it. I love that you cut off the mushy part before you sliced it up for tasting! What the heck is that huge tree trunk with the band around it? I’m the mango maniac with 270 mango trees on a corner 1/2 acre lot with a house and pool taking up space plus 30 avocado trees!! Apparently your wonderful mom did a great job raising you. Soooo nice to see you both together.
Nice melon
i had a couple of orange sherbets this year that blew me away. the flavor was a mix of orange and a bit of coconut. that tree is definitely earning a spot in my yard
Generally I am not a Glenn fan. However this particular year the Glenn's were amazing!
@@backyardmangoes4333 it's my first year trying them and was pretty impressed.
A few days ago, I had the pleasure of having one with Alex. I think Paul, Fruitful Trees, may have done a video. We also ate an M-10. All I can say is I am glad I planted it last year, one year closer to production.
