OPEN STANCE AND HITTING THE FLOP
Просмотров 56710 месяцев назад
OPEN STANCE AND THE FLOP EXPERIENCE is meant to demystify the flop shot and its technicals in favor of a philosophical approach to elevated short shots. The one caveat I did not mention but insert into the discussion ex-post facto is that the hips CANNOT TURN THROUGH THE SHOT, at least with "The Big Lazy". Turning your hips through means leaning the shaft at impact, which means your ball will e...
OPEN STANCE AND HITTING A FADE

Open Stance and The Fade Experience is part of a Mastery process, to sharpen ball-striking while measuring adaptive expertise. The adaptation required in club face, path, set position, and takeaway is extreme. I do this to regain con...

THE OPEN STANCE: KNOCKING DOWN NORMAL
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.2 года назад
Half shots are not the same as knock down shots. Half shots describe a full palate of off-speed swings. Not quite the same as flighting your ball, your set up remains as in a full swing. Only the speed element changes. Regardless, knocking down normal shots is the subject here. These shots are ‘feel’ shots. These are the ones the touring professionals do so well. They are the subject of my arti...

    Good stuff... Can you imagine if the golfing industry outlawed coaching? The only thing a player could have was a caddy... Or, scrap that, why the need for a caddy. I've often wondered what would happen if the US Open was played on a randomized public course every year that was selected 1 month prior to the venue... Make the game more relatable to the common man...

    Thanks John for your website & videos. I am just starting down this path today (after finding the cure in the dirt 'by accident') and have yet to receive your book. One easy question: for the standard straight shot, do your shoulders also align open in line with the feet - or to target line? Thanks, Steve (New Zealand)

    I've seen a few other golfers that have similar technique in their golf swing. The one thing they all have in common at this level, is they are all tall or powerful in build. It is a very compact repeatable swing, with very little moving parts. The only issue would be for shorter golfers who would have trouble picking up swing speed and distance with the shorter back swing. But the technique is great for scoring irons and shorter shots around the green.

    very similar to marcus edblad swing, His is open ,ball back a bit has a controlled draw, his is the closest to my own swing. In the passed I have always used an open stance with my short game, wedges, pitching and 9 i. , now after watching Marcus I can do driver as well. Thanks, TOSA, for explaining it as you do.

    I can set up wide open or dead closed and NEVER hit a shank! You must understand swing path! Without swing path knowledge, an open or closed stances, potentially have the dreaded shank results!!! TRUST ME! PH D. IN THE FIELD OF THE SHANK!! I hit them for 30yrs. Now 67, I have the best swing of my golf career and weep for those hitting shanks.

    I was constantly hitting behind the ball with my irons, a recent problem that occurred after I healed up from a severe shoulder injury. While hitting practice balls, I found it necessary to move the ball back in my stance to avoid thin and/or fat shots. After some more body alignment work, I found myself hitting better shots with an open stance. This video golf lesson validates my experience 100%.

    My friend noticed my feet are aimed way right while my club is faced towards the target and when I did line up correctly even a little open it felt like I was aimed way left. Going to be weird getting my body used to it but the shanks have got me bad this year coming across the ball really bad I wonder if this is part of the reason

  • @johndauthieu
    @johndauthieu Год назад

    Am a big fan of your "open Stance " John, however I don't agree with this theory on ball position. The position of the body as related to the ball must be from the line of the heals, as these are what the body stands on, whatever the position of the toes!

  • @sandwah9901
    @sandwah9901 Год назад

    What if you didn't use your body consciously, and instead move the club the way you want to move it, and simply allow the body to relax and only respond to what you are doing with the club? It appears to me your mishits are all a function of the lower body movement interrupting your otherwise great motion. This is a bit of a throwback to Ernest Jones and Manny de la Torre, but I have seen proof of this. When I was a kid, we had a friend who had braces from his knees to his ankles, and he played golf with us. He couldn't use his hips or legs, he could only stand there and swing. He took the club back, pointed it to the sky, let the heavy clubhead fall and it would shallow right into the slot every frickin time. His dad would take him in a cart to play with us, and you could not beat him. He hit just as far as we did and he almost never missed a shot. He hit the prettiest little draw on with every club and would shoot low 70s when he was 15. Fast forward two years later, his knees/legs were healed and braces came off. Within a year, and getting move the hips, clear the left side, drive the legs etc "instruction", he couldn't break 80. I have often put my feet close together and copied his braces swing, and it always comes off beautifully.

    Shot best round of my life (by about 6 strokes) by opening up. Always been a draw player but find baby cuts a much better strategy for me. Stumbled upon this video as the second time I tried the open stance technique, I was losing a lot to hard slices rather than that nice little fade. Is the lesson in this video that with the open stance the ball needs to be farther FORWARD in the stance to compensate for the adjustment?
