MrkiSerbian Try your local hardware store. It's a six-sided piece of acrylic that is used to adjust the angle of Venetian style blinds or vertical blinds.
First lookup the voltage and current rating of the LED. Say it's 3.2V and 25ma. If you wire them in series then you need to supply them with 6.4v (3.2x2) to light them up and they will be drawing 0.025a (convert ma to ampere by dividing by 1000). First find the voltage drop needed by the resistor: 14v (alternator) - 6.4v (LED's) = 7.6V -This means you need a resistance in series that will drop the voltage by 7.6v ohms law: V = I x R v=voltage, I=current (in amperes), R=resistance (in ohms) The current in a series circuit is the same through every LED and resistor. Since we know the current is 0.025a, rearranged to solve for R: R=V/I R=7.6v/0.025a R=304 Ohm Now check the power rating of the resistor: P=7.6*0.025 = 0.19 watts thus your standard 1/4 watt resistor should work fine. Hopefully you can follow the math and plug in your LED values. Sorry for the complexity :/
Aghast this is exactly right! Always go less than rated mA. If is 20, do 10-15. As for car voltage, use 15-16. With the math at these ratings the LEDs will never experience over current
are these in front of the glass or behind inside the lens?. $5 home made led rings. wonder oh mellower the light output would be with an 1000ohm resistor. nice. be nice if could do the highbeams in red & low beams white. in cali illegal colors are red=fire, blue=pigs, green=forest ranger

Hi bro ;] So did you find out anything about the tape? I thought maybe just white tape could work for this? Or maybe even reflective side of aluminum foil? Did you do the project?
robikas hi! Nothing about the tape..couldn't find anything like it in my country. but the projector light of my punto has the reflecting finish so that should not be a problem. Didn't had the time to do it just yet, but planing on doing it after the summer. (and I will try to use a round acrylic rod- bloody expensive here :( )
Sandro Cerovac Hi. did it with round rod. It sucks without anything on back side. The whole light dissipates to wide range and couldn't be seen in daylight. Just because there is no back side tape the light reflects back to reflector and the whole reflector shines a bit. Even at night not just rings light, but they light the whole reflector and it looks not even close to angel/eagle eyes. Its a big blue blob. So if doing the rings, try to put anything on back side of the ring so that it wouldn't light reflector and would be more visible just as ring. I have photo, would be nice if I could share it somewhere there.
Sandro Cerovac Uploaded to my google+ pictures. I'm not saying that without reflective tape it's no go, I'm just saying that with nothing blocking light in back side of angel eyes, the light dissipates to wide range and it's not concentrated to front, and also it's lighting the whole reflector so you can see in picture the reflector turns blue. One more tip, be very careful with stick you use, because my LED's were bright white 3.6V 20mamp and just because of the curtain sticks were some sort of blueish the angel eyes turned in to blue (witch I didn't want to and didn't expect to). I guess for the reflector blob effect, white paints in the back of the angel eyes would make it disappear.
Thumbs up bro
This man is a legend
This is where is all started... If only he know then what we would have now
Too complicated,
Where to buy acrylic stick rod please tell me sir, i am from inndia

Would this work with an acrylic disc?
Where your local laws allow...
Sorry, can you explain what is "BLIND ROD", what is used for, and where I can find it ???

that turned out really good! I'm so doing this!
Good presentation man. Will open some eyes for sure.......for other things too....such as trunk / boot.
مشاء الله
EXCELLENT, really well done AND shown! Terrific job, they look great. Many thanks for sharing.
that was pretty neat :)
You really should be using a constant current LED driver. Car power can vary from 12v-14v and spike up to 30-50v
Kevin Y are you sure about that.

Did you used a reflective tape which has the reflective side on the clued side ?
The 3M reflective tape is reflective on both sides. :)
Random Brandon thank you for the answer :)
Random Brandon So the adhesive backing is reflective also? Sorry, I wasn't aware that this existed.
de cuantos amp son los leds que usas
Neomar Rodriguez depends on the led.
if my alternator puts out between 12v-14v how do you know how much of a resister to use

very impressive how much you send in total

I just want to remind all of you this video is 8 years old and still relevant
No, not really. COB led halos are super cheap now
Exactly. China found out and picked up on it :) now ebay is full of variations of everything..
Awesome LED project Thanks for posting.
great job..................thanks
hello, what is the brand reflective tape? it sticks upside down? thank you
its reflective on both sides. google 3m reflective tape.
Molt bé tio! What a great hack, thank for the vid :)
Can a bicycle led fog be converted for a car fog?
Muy creativo, felicidades, I'll do with my spirit rt 1994
so how to make your car look like a bmw at nigth. nice. ricers are going to love this
Thanks! looks amazing. how would this work with just a LED on one side? would the entire tube be bright enough?
nice
Thanks man
bravooooooooo
it looks very nice, but I'm just thinking of all the time Im gonna spend doing this!😣😥
That`s awesome but how did you put it in the headlights?
just conect with parking light switch
I'll dumb down the question for you. How did you put the halo inside the headlamp assembly?
+Troy Drouin he baked the headlight housing g in an oven or you can make an enclosure out of card board box, channel in hot air from a heat gun or blow dryer, voila!
Great !! Job Master, I will try it when I buy the acrylic rod.
perfeito muito bom
me gustaria saber como haces para que no se derrita el acrilico con el calor que genera la lampara gracias me interesa mucho
daniel dorta El acrilico no derrete con el calor del led.
thanks for the diy.great.
That really was a good, intelligent and orderly video. Wish everybody was as professional as you.
what is the power of the led?
what is "rod"
I think blind rod
+Igor S.S. Is similar of what we have in the middle of our legs...
Very clever, , , Check out mad auto illuminations .com
Onde consigo esse bastao???
Why not just lightly sand the front of the tube?
dont like yur name but damn this is nice... real madrid babyyy
hey, nice work!! I was just wandering what's the name of the reflective tape. can't find that type that you can stick on the inside of the glass..

Great, detailed video. Way to set the curve for how-to videos :-)
innovative indeed.Awesome
I love you
