    Nice bin. If you have enough totes why not put the floor down and use full totes for the walls. I have seen nobody else doing that. As you unload the bin, the only thing left to pick up would be the floor. Great video. Have a great day.

    • @BeaverTownOutdoors
      @BeaverTownOutdoors 7 дней назад

      Well that is a good idea and one I thought of as well. The problem is I only have a limited amount of totes, and can’t dedicate them to just sit. Once totes became popular around here people stopped giving them away and instead charge a ridiculous amount to buy them.

    • @Dorchwoods
      @Dorchwoods 8 часов назад

      Also, keep in mind, the nice thing about pallets as the walls/side is the amount of air they let in. If you fill an IBC tote of wood, whether it's stacked or loose inside, it's basically going to act as more of a wind blocker and the core/center of the pile is going to struggle. I'm not convinced that bins will work tbh. The only reason they work for Chris is because of his location, wood will dry with ANY technique he uses. Just my thoughts anyways!

    What do you think about the 6way wedge?

    • @BeaverTownOutdoors
      @BeaverTownOutdoors Месяц назад

      I like the 6 way wedge BUT it has a design flaw. The bottom wings are upside down and it forces the wedge to ride up, which means you have to clear it every time you split. The 4 way doesn’t do that so you can just run continuously through. It doesn’t take a lot to clear it out but those seconds add up over the course of a day.

    • @BeaverTownOutdoors
      @BeaverTownOutdoors 2 месяца назад

      So for sharpening I do a couple different types. I hand file to touch up between tanks, I use a rotary tool to sharpen when dull, and I have a bench chain grinder for when a chain gets damaged and needs heavy duty sharpening. I also only use progressive gauges to set the rakers

    • @BeaverTownOutdoors
      @BeaverTownOutdoors 2 месяца назад

      A progressive raker gauge is different than the bar you put across 2 teeth which sets the raker at an average between the 2 which in my experience doesn’t set it correctly to get the proper depth of cut. A progressive sets each raker to the corresponding tooth. That’s important if you hand file or use a rotary tool because your teeth end up being different lengths depending on how much each had to be filed or ground down to get sharp

    Glad to see you enjoyed using your new LogOX! The soft ground conditions you were using the LogOX BigFot Timberjack in is exactly why we created that skid plate design, and it's always great to see it working well. One quick piece of advice, if I may be so bold, is I'd recommend bucking up all of your log rounds in an area first, then removing the attachments and using the Hauler to lift and toss your log rounds into the pile. If you have a further walk between your rounds and the pile, you can use the PickOX in one hand and the Hauler in the other to cut down on your trips. I know it's tempting to clean up as you go, but once you get the hang of tossing rounds with the Hauler, it'll actually be faster to snag and toss all of the rounds in one go. Plus it'll really save your back. #TeamLogOX

    • @BeaverTownOutdoors
      @BeaverTownOutdoors 5 месяцев назад

      Thank you for watching and for the advice. I actually do typically buck everything, then clean up when I’m not on camera, but I have been criticized by viewers that not cleaning up as I go is unsafe, or blocks the view. So on camera I tend to clean up as I go. But I have used the PickOx and the LogOx together to work 2 handed and it works extremely well. Thanks for making such a great tool!

      I like the RuggedMade a lot. For the price point it is a great splitter. Putting it together was a project and took most of a day, not difficult but a lot to do. The quality overall is good but I did experience an issue with weak bolts on the bottom of the push plate early on, but replaced them all with Grade 8 bolts and never had that problem again. Only other issue was a failure on the splitter valve, but RuggedMade sent me a better valve to replace it completely free of charge, even though I had passed the warranty period.

Here is the reason why I will be making the same modification. The first one is a 30" and sets the hook great. But I was looking for a little better reach. That said I purchased the 48". Here are my findings, I just can' t get the hook to set on the 48 do to the flex in the handle length. So, in the vise it will go. The heat gun is an option but I'm starting by placing the hookaroon by the wood stove. BTW, I will try the compressed air mentioned below for getting the handle back on.
