In this video you'll see how I collect beech yamadori, I hope you'll enjoy! !!! Remember, collecting trees from nature without the permission of the authorities or the landowner is illegal !!!
No movement in the trunk?
Yes, one could add some movement to it by using a thick wire. However, I wanted to give this tree a formal upright style
Please provide future updates, I am very interested to see how this tree progresses.
Sure!
👍🌲
Pruning bonsai thank you for sharing good luck Mr
That’s a great tree to develop! Thanks for sharing, friend
thank you for the comment!
Thats nice. You need to shorten the jin. It's too tall and thick and it makes the tree look very juvenile and man handeled. Also, try to break it apart at the top to give a more natural look to it. You can also use a lighter to burn it to simulate the lightning strike. That is the reason very tall conifers have a naked trunk top like that and in bonsai we call it a jin.
Yes, you're right, thanks for the advice! To give it an older look, I should shorten the apex jin and I think I'll do that. Anyway, this is a very young tree and both the apex jin and the lower one will likely disintegrate in a few years. Once the tree reaches more maturity, I'll need to recreate the jins with new branches, as older wood lasts longer
@TenzoBonsai You kinda need to use older trees. These young trees are tricky as they are not yet in a stage that allows this type of a turnaround. Also, it's mandatory to use jin solution in order to prevent the wood from disintegrating. But overall, it's a qute little tree. I am not a fan of using organic material as a pot and you will learn in why in time. Kudos!
Yes, I always use jin liquid (I didn't show it in this video, but I did in the others), and I'm aware that the pot won't last forever, but it's an experiment I wanted to try. I enjoy working with both younger and older trees, I believe that both offer a sense of fulfillment over time. In this case I want to create a little future bonsai so it's ok that it's a young tiny tree. In the future, we'll see how it performs, but I believe it will bring me a lot of satisfaction! 🌳🌲
Can’t wait to see how it progresses.
Yes, me too! The only thing is that it's the first time I'm using this type of pot, and in summer, I think it will require frequent watering
Nice styling - very bold, and inspired by nature.
Thank you!
Very nice trees!
Thank you!!
I would've left the bottom branches to grow out...way out. They need thickening. I'll only trim the top to ramify.
In my opinion, only the first branch on the left needs to thicken. I didn't let it grow but preferred to prune it because this way I already have the primary and secondary structure of the branch set. I will let the secondary branches grow freely this year so that the entire branch thickens. This way, I've made progress with the branching, and the result is the same. Moreover, in my opinion, this method creates more taper in the branch and the tree doesn't waste energy on unnecessary branches that I would later have to cut.
Always interesting to see what people do with these spruces, thanks for sharing your tree styling. Hopefully we can get an update in about 6 months to a year.
Thank you for the comment! There will definitely be updates in the future
Can I suggest that you read Peter D Adams bonsai books.
I'm currently reading Dan Robinson's book "Gnarly Branches, Ancient Trees". I don't know who Peter D. Adams is, maybe I'll take a look at it in the future!
The music is so annoying
I'm sorry you don't like it, but I do! 😁
Hi, thank you. Very educative to not only see what you do or how you do it, but particularly why you do it. I also like that these are young trees in development, not the trees that are already 30+ years old and developed.
Thank you very much for the positive comment! Most of the trees in my collection are yamadori in development, some more advanced, others less. The aim of this channel is to share the progress these plants will make over time. I also believe it is useful to work with young trees as they are more forgiving of mistakes, allowing for experimentation with new techniques/designs that can later be applied to other trees as well.
I Will follow progress on these trees with great interest as I also collected some seedlings from the wild.
Beautiful ! Good job 🤩
Thanks!
Nice bonsai small penjing thank you for sharing, good luck Mr
Thank you for this detailed designing/trimming video, including why you trimmed areas of the tree. It has helped me with our trees. Looking forward to followup videos on this tree as it develops.
Thank you for your comment! I'm glad you found the video helpful. There will definitely be more videos about this tree in spring. I also need to consider the possibility of repotting it, as it has been in this pot for three years
Pruning bonsai thank you for sharing, good luck Mr
Thank you!
Should I pull the leafs off ??
Beech trees keep their dry leaves throughout the winter to protect the buds, to work on the plant I removed them by hand. It's important to me to let the leaves dry on the plant before removing them
Nice work, I like it.
Thank you!
Nice bonsai ,thank you for sharing im here to support good luck Mr
Thanks!
Quite interested where did you find small tulip trees like that, always seeing them as mature trees or just solitary planted smaller trees in garden with straight trunk
In a friend’s garden, there are two mature Liriodendron. Here it’s an invasive species and they produce hundreds of new seedlings each year. Every year, my friend removes quite a few and he let me collect these
That's cool, yours have nice taper already too, I'm a gardener in London and I haven't seen young samplings here anywhere, just mature trees, maybe I'm just unlucky or they are just unable to reproduce
Really cool you trying to do bonsai from unusual species, hope your choysia will bounce back and grow more branches, the trunk looks really good
Thanks! Yes I like to experiment with unusual trees I'm trying to style the choysia as a literati
I love the start to these trees.
Me too, I hope that they'll become nice bonsai someday!
That one has nice nebari already, good job with the digging, didn't expect it gonna have so much of a root ball, always bit troubling to dig out bigger trees from the ground because the root spread might be too wide already and not enough feeding roots. But not your case, well done!
Thanks! you are right for this tree before collecting I checked by digging a small hole next to the nebari to see if there were any fine roots usually as you say they are very far from the base I was lucky hahah
Haven’t you cut too many roots?
Hey! Thanks for you question 😄 I don't think so, I just cut the larger roots but there were so many fine roots so I’m not worried at all!
Nice video 😍😍
Thanks!
