Tokyo's Underrated Areas for Street Photography (POV)

A POV featuring my four favourite, underrated areas for street photography from my week in Tokyo earlier this year. Less Shibuya, more Ebisu. The Fujifilm X100vi was the primary camera during this time and it's taken me the best part of 3 months to finally get round to editing the photos. It's overdue, but I hope you can enjoy and relax to this one! I've got a couple more Japan videos coming, s...

One day in Wales | Ricoh GR IIIx + Fuji X100VI

One day in Wales with the Ricoh GR IIIx and Fujifilm X100VI, beneath its grey skies, amidst its warm people. This is not a formal shootout video like the previous episode, but it does show how I split my time between each camera on a day trip. Fuji X100VI vs Ricoh GR IIIx | POV Shootout
Просмотров 77 тыс.6 месяцев назад
Due to popular demand, this is a rapid fire episode comparing the Ricoh GR IIIx and the Fujifilm X100VI. The shootout involved three round of 30 minutes each in the city of Bath, a pitstop on the way to Wales (next episode). The weather turned it into a roulette, but it was interesting to see the results of each camera side by side. A 'Final Score' is shared at the end of the video. Subscribe i...

Love my Ricoh GRiii's :)
Nice man! 💪🏼
Ooh, Berlin! A city with a lot of character. Nice work with the GR IIIx!
@@andreposthumus2072 yes lots of character indeed - but Germany isn't the easiest place for street photography!
@@po.ntandshoot So I heard! But you did pretty okay here. 🙂
you just using a preset, or anything else i really like your photos
@@minhle.1610 thanks a lot - I use the positive film simulation from Ricoh with some tweaks in Lightroom
are you using a recipe/preset?
@@grey.7828 ricoh's positive film simulation
just got the iiix and i love it. dying to go out with it
@@grey.7828 the GR is pure fun, glad you've joined the club
great pics man!
@@AmalForbes thank you!
something about Fujifilm's colors bug me.
@@ollyyung2859 used the Pro Negative sim on this one - it is pretty aggressive with the green hue. Used to like it but not much these days.
I like this video style showing the real scene with the photo.
Thanks for watching 📸
Nice ending :)

Same. Didn't appreciate it enough at Uni.
Dopenhagen!
Brilliant good video! Thanks for sharing
@@Thomas1980 thanks for watching, Thomas!
The swan scene is so magical ❤
What recipe do you use on the X100IV?
Classic chrome 90% of the time!
@@po.ntandshoot Hey thanks man! Just basic default Classic Chrome or do you adjust it?
@@Project_2501 classic chrome as a base and I make some minor tweaks to contrast/highlights/shadows
Very professional travel video, Lisbon looks great, might have to give it a visit, or Porto.👍📷
Thanks 🙏 I can't wait to return to both cities in the future.
Very professional travel video, Lisbon looks great, might have to give it a visit, or Porto.👍📷
I feel like going for a bike ride😺
No better city for cyclists than Copenhagen!
I like the look of the longer focal lengths. Having 75mm as an option on a fixed focal length camera without a crazy price is good. Using it exclusively even for a single day seems unrealistic/painful.
Agreed. I've used it this past week in Iceland as a second camera/lens - been much more enjoyable.
I'd choose the Ricoh over fuji
Amazing shot and so relaxing !
Nice to hear this - relaxing is the aim/goal
Nice work !
Cheers, appreciate it.
PRETTY SHOTS
thank you thank you
Just found out your channel recently and now i’m addicted to your videos. I was planning on purchasing my first camera ever whether I choose the x100vi or griiix.
Wow, that's a compliment. I won't get involved in your camera decision - go with your gut (ricoh for me!)
Oh scatti stupendi ❤
Appreciate it, Pasquale!
Nice!!
Cheers!
Enjoyed this fella. Keep it up. POV photography is great, otherwise it can just turn into a slideshow :)
Thanks Jamie - will try, it's all good practice.
Nice edits - but I think its a bit creepy, to shoot straight in peoples faces 😀 Did you edit the photos afterwards or are they straight out of camera?
Felt pretty comfy in my hometown! In this video, I edited them in Lightroom. Thanks for watching -
@@po.ntandshoot Really like your editing style!
So Nice!
Cheers Boris!
Great video and very relaxing to watch! Keep it up Mark!
Thanks Spyros!

Ahhh, really enjoyed this one. I was in Copenhagen just last week and found it amazing. It's so nice to see some familiar streets and settings, but I apparently missed some really good spots too!
@@andreposthumus2072 cheers! what a great city indeed - did you have a favourite site/district?
@@po.ntandshoot Well, I loved the harbour area (Christianshavn). I found myself going back to Nyhavn regularly and I really liked photographing around the square before the city hall at night! But to be fair, it's truly a photogenic city and as far as I can see, both of us had lovely sunny weather during during our stays. 😃👌
use spot metering?
Yes, usually central spot metering.
I enjoy your videos. What strap do you use? I've noticed it on other videos; it looks very useful.
@@R15CJT2 Thanks a lot. The strap is a peak design cuff wrist strap - I recommend it! Quick release which is really useful if you have multiple cameras.
EXCELLENT PHOTOS, COULD YOU TELL ME HOW YOU HAVE THE CAMERA SET UP OR MAKE A VIDEO OF IT? THANK YOU
Thanks, it means a lot! I need to make a video of it as quite a number of people have asked now...it's a different style of video to what I'm used to, but I think I need to just do it.
@@po.ntandshoot Yes please, since you have used the camera a lot and know where it works best, we would greatly appreciate it.
EXCELENTE TRABAJO
Thank you 🙏🏻
Amazing video. Inspiring! 🤗
@@alejandroricoveri appreciate it! 📸
Did not know that converter. One thing... I don't see that big a difference from a 40mm and the 75mm in your images here. Maybe you should try to shoot from the same distance as you you normally would with the 40mm. Then you would really feel closer to the subject, and with that, have a bit closer look. For me it does not make sense with that long a focal lengt for street, if you just go further away to frame the image like a 28 or 40mm... Keep up and take care!
@@JJ_Photo thanks for watching! As mentioned, I found it difficult to frame with the teleconverter. Adding the unreliable autofocus, it did lead me to missing the 35mm-40mm range. Still, good practice, but I haven't used it since....or sold it...
Sweet photos! Nice looking camera too (coming from an X-Pro2 shooter).
@@herbertmasing Cheers! Sold my X-Pro3 early this year due to a number of issues (screen failures and a noisy/buzzing internal system)....waiting for some X-Pro2 bargains on eBay but I don't think such deals exist anymore. Too popular, too good looking
@@po.ntandshoot Yes, the number of offers has gone down, but there may still be some popping up, needs constant screening:) I got mine from Germany in mint condition (700 shutter actuations) for a 1000 euros. I loved this camera since the moment I held it in my hands.. And it's not just the looks.. it's that optical view finder which always leaves a moment of mystery while shooting.. you never know what you will get.. the inly other camera I'm craving for is the GFX 50R..
Great video! I love my gr3x. Every now and then I feel like buying the additional lens but my biggest fear is how the autofocus will behave... is it that bad?
@@fotonyorg I can just about forgive the autofocus with the native/40mm lens. But, at 1.5x, it seems to hunt even more. So, the best way to use it is to setup shots more and slow down - takes a bit of fun out of the GR experience.
what a beautiful city
@@moes_film it's up there....ticks most boxes provided you cycle everywhere and bite the bullet on prices.
Great video, Mark! And Wonderful shots! Greetings from Bcn!
@@maryanto_3932 thank you! 🇪🇦
I live in Lisbon and you nailed it! .❤
Lisbon...I need to go back! One of my favourite cities.
Great shots! Also in Berlin now and finding it very hard to do street photography here, the Germans hate cameras haha. Have you found any tips for defusing situations if someone glares at you or makes some type of gesture/comment?
Hey, thanks for watching - appreciate it. Germany is definitely one of the harder countries for street photography. My only way is to smile and push the tourist agenda - 'I'm just in a good mood, checking out your city'. When they have told me to not take photos I always try to talk with them shortly.
The Ricoh cooked
🍳 📸
My GAS is taking on new forms watching this video. I own the fuji x100vi and a leica q3, but now I still kindcof want the ricoh after seeing your video. I've tried it twice in a store and remember it felt like a toy because of the plastic-y build, but after holding the q3 even the fuji feels like a toy now😂great video! Can't wait to see more comparisons. Honestly both camera's look amazing!
The GAS is real - I'm ashamed of my eBay search history. I would actually say the Fuji feels like more of a toy than the Ricoh!
Hi Mark, nice vid btw. I'm also keen on buying this DJI pocket 3. How're you finding it so far?
Hi Juan - love it. It's replacing more of the GoPro duties than I expected. The only use case for the GoPro is for when it's raining.
