Well if you 82 years old I need more time. But I gonna catching up.started Phicical Therapy today in 2 months gonna be like new.😂
I’m a fit 62 year old single digit golfer. I had excruciating groin pain on my right hip due to my hip arthritis. I dealt with it for 7 months and it was ruining my golf game and life. But I’m also a driven guy when it came to the PT wanting to get back out there. At the post op four week mark from anterior THR I began doing deep knee bends, no weights, just bends because I was feeling great, hopeful and excited about the successful surgery. Big mistake. Two days later the groin pain returned and I could barely walk. I have since rested and it’s getting a little better but slowly. Don’t rush this surgery recovery. It’s not worth it. Walk, do lite recommended rehab exercises and be patient. I’m not knocking this guy here, but this is a major life changing event. Why risk it. I should have been smarter. That joint needs time to rejuvenate the bone surrounding the prosthetics. Be careful👍.
Thanks buddy gives me some great hope
Great job, makes big difference when you are in great physical shape for a speedy recovery. I'm going to have right hip replacement in 2 months. Hopefully my recovery goes as well as yours. I'm a 67 yo male who has done 14 marathons over the years.
thank you, i am about to go through it now
How does the replaced hip feels ?
Gracias por tu testimonio Eres una inspiración!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Had mine done 11 days ago I am still in a lot of pain can not walk with out a walker yet , hope to be on a cane in a couple of days
Thanks for that even 2 yrs later. Im having my hip replaced in 4 days so hopefully It will go well. Thank you.
How old are you?
Good luck === speedy recovery == let us know❤
Thanks for inspiration and aspiration.
Oh my god, and how long out is this from surgery date. There may be hope for me yet!😀
I'll have my operation in 8 weeks and Nate is one of my absolute role models and basis for hope. Unfortunately, soon after his operation, he stopped to tell anything about his experiences :(
How much weight is that on the old hip etc?
Gives me lots of hope 37 yo 205 lbs about to do hip resurfacing
Hi i have had my surgery 19 days ago I’m still using 1 walking stick I wanted to ask u I long did that took for u to walk unaided thanks
Just had this surgery yesterday. Day one and it’s been rough. Looking forward to getting back to the gym!
Brilliant news, im 50 yo. 6 weeks post left posterior hip replacement, doing good, no crutches, walking regularly, upto 3 miles on the weekend.
I am three weeks out post hip resurfacing… still on single crutch , still can’t put full weight on it … it’s been a bitch .. is it normal
Hi. Great to hear you are doing fantastic. Was it anterior or posterior type of surgery?
Hi Nate, Im a 58 year old crossfitter. I had THR on my left side about 8 years ago. Then I started crossfitting about 8 months after that. Now Im going in for my right side THR in about a month. How long was before you were able to doing regular wods etc...? Thanks in advance
Just wondering what approach you had done? I am 47 and a manager of a gym, fitness instructor and very active. Looking to have the left thr in the fall, lateral approach. I have soooo many questions!
The video is really reassuring for me. Even if you have a cat lol you can have a good recovery!
Thank you for posting. I'm 45 and looking at having hip replacement but weight training is my life so it's been good to see your recovery. Thank you
Good job. I am a weight lifter, bodybuilder, fitness enthusiast. I am watching to see how things are going after your hip replacement. I had my left knee done 10 months ago. I am getting stronger now. My hip is bugging me. Any advice you can give me about having a hip replacement? I know you had the anterior, but what else should I know. I don’t want to quit lifting.
Dude I’m one year total hip replacement this month. So we had it done around the same time. First 3 days kinda sucked but then the pain really dropped off. I just did 30 minutes on the elliptical machine 30 minutes on the bike and 30 minutes on the treadmill. So 1 year out I’d say 96%. I need to do more lower body stuff. But I’ve also had 2 back surgeries. So I do what I can. I think snatching is out. At least for now lol. Good luck giv’em Hell cowboy.
Hi Nate, I guess I wrote a few times under other videos (so please bare with me :) but I would really love to hear which heavy lifts are still possible for you. You are one of the few crossfitters with a THR so I am desparately longing for information :)
I'm 75 and had thr of right hip. I'm in excellent condition and am 2 weeks post surgery walking unassisted, climbing and descending stairs. I still have some swelling and my hip flexor has to relearn how to lift my leg. I take bromelain, nac, astaxanthin, fish oil, vitc and isotonix multi. I have not tried a squat yet. you look great.
Hi Nate, great performance! I still hope that you would make a video in which you talk about your experience with the hip and especially what you can still do in crossfit and what not :)
Hi Nate, in which category did you inscribe for Adaptive open competition? Because I am participating for the first time in Open but for adaptive because I did total hip replacement 10 years ago and I really don’t know in each category I should choose.
I’m 39 and about to get the hip replacement in November to be honest not feeling good about it
Need to keep documenting. everyone does it for a while then nothing?? One month post op TRHR
Great post my friend. So I'm 64 and getting THR in 3 weeks. An athlete since the 70s, and spent 17 years in an elite military unit. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is my thing now. How soon , if ever, can I get back to fighting guys 30 years younger then me?
Thanks for sharing, well done 👍. Seriously 9 week's not 9 months. Amazing progress
Nate I am 46, L2 and box owner. I need to get a THR, but you are the first person I have seen do thrusters and snatches. I tend to Oly Lift heavy, but what are your thoughts on Oly Lifting with a THR? Can you still hit Squat Cleans, C&Js, Squat Snatch? My hips are not in bad shape due to sports or lifting, but I was born with Hip Dysplacia, which I just found out in July, so I have been dealing with it for a while now and want the pain to end. Thoughts?
Appreciate you sharing your experience. I’m getting my replacement in November and have been worried about getting back into CrossFit. Thank you!
I appreciate your videos. Thank you for the FIT motivation. these videos/ examples are difficult to find
Just had the surgery stayed One night in the hospital I am nowhere near athlete I'm going to do the old fart exercises and as I go on call increase but damn you look good out of surgery keep it up best wishes for your recovery my wife seems to think I'll never be able to touch my toes crouch down ever in life she thinks it's going to pop out of I told her I can't touch my toes try to grab something off the ground but will in the future be able to I think she wants me to be crippled😅
Thanks for posting this video, hope you are really better and stronger now
4 weeks and doing such a deep squat is kind of risky for dislocation no? I am a regular gym user but definitely won’t be risking lots of the leg stuff you do until after 3 months . That’s what my surgeon told me . Uncemented too needs to secure with bone growth . I am 2 months in and working up to my old routine very gradually. Good luck 👍
Today is 26/7/23 ,2 days Pre Op , trusting God for a smooth journey
Thanks for sharing. This gives me hope. 🤞🏽
You are brave . I was mega fit before my surgery but won’t be attempting any leg stuff until 3 months . I am working out top half machines only.
Hi, I am due for a left total hip. And a bit like you very fit but wore the joint due to arthritis triggered by a fixation plate on my femur due to a crack after a speed skate accident in 2012. So how do you get back to running & weights. I keep being told no more running or heavy lifting despite using the Anterolateral Approach that does not cut muscle with a small cut etc. you have amazing mobility after just one month. They say no extreme bending, I am confused can you let me know the operation technique you had plus what prosthesis materials used. I was recommended non cemented Titanium with ceramic ball & highly crossed PE plastic cup.. Well done & good luck getting stronger. I am trying to stay strong for the Op. In pain & sleepless nights but pushing on. Goddam nightmare coming from being able to do what I wanted a short time ago prior to a bike crash revealed the wear…We forget we maybe fit but the joints can wear.!. A note to everyone get scanned once in a while if very active to check cartilage & other possible issues..:-). Live long and prosper..
Hey Man - 1 wk post double hip replacement, Still a bit sore and stiff but its slow and steady and glad to see there’s light at end of the tunnel. Cheers
Thanks, Nate. I've been looking for this level of information.
Today is five weeks post for me, and I looked basically like you did at four. I'm getting PT through the hospital system where I got the surgery, and it's definitely not just for old decrepit people - haha. Hey wait - I'm older than you... Seriously my therapist could work for a professional football team. She's really good at knowing which muscles could use some work, and exactly how to manipulate them to improve overall function. I go home well worked out. Your crossfit will be good too, but I'd encourage anyone whose insurance covers PT to go for it. Oh, I had the anterior approach. If you had posterior, or even the lateral you must follow your doctor's restrictions. You pace will be slower, but hang in there - you'll get there.
You punched your poor cat in the head.
“Punched”? Give me a break, Karen!
Load is pushed by right side during squat. Left is your operated hip?
The stiffness caused me to lose a little flexibility in my dancing I'm afraid to have a hip replacement Because I'm not sure will I be able to dance again Keep up the good work
You gonna dance again.
Hey there My hip cartilage worn out And I'm bone to bone On my left hip Which caused stiffness I'm a runner I'm also a weight lifter I also take dance class Doing a lot of jumping and twisting In dance class After hip replacement do you think I will be able to still do these things
