I have them displayed all over the house in every room and have a corner cabinet for my really special ones. I'd like to craft and have many ideas and have only had time for a few small projects but mainly for now just collecting. So much going on in "life" at the moment. Looking at my shells and holding them and sharing with friends some gives me great joy. Thx for your question.

That’s so awesome!!! I would have gotten all stinky too lol!! Most times if I don’t find things readily on top I shuffle around or dig a little. I went to Sanibel too and there was tons of seaweed but I was finding so much just on top I didn’t even bother with the seaweed. (I should have investigated a spot though now thinking about it). Anyways, that is so awesome of you!!!! And so happy you found all that & were able to share too 👍🏼👍🏼 I met a couple that was spending there last day in Marco and they were so excited to be finding the shells over by me. I said if you think this is good you see those islands over there (10ks) they are loaded at the moment more than this. Told them about the tours and all-few minutes later I was helping them book for the next morning 🤣🤣 It was great! I almost booked myself but there were other places I wanted to check out on our mini trip over to the west coast after Debby. Take care and congrats on your finds too and happy shelling!

Here I thought I was hitting early menopause just to find out I was pregnant!! She loves the beach. Connor still likes getting out every now and then and Skyler my oldest daughter is 100% friends and phone at this stage lol. I love the acid transformations it's like once you start dipping you can't stop LOL!

I did actually leave a pile - I dug out “underneath” the sand and tossed up more Florida fighting conchs, whelks and others that were buried and left them there than shells we took that day. You can see me doing that in this video 👍🏼 Thanks for your concern & it’s so awesome Mother nature is on top of providing shells w/o any help 👍🏼👍🏼 Shell collecting in documented history has been around for thousands of years; even some civilizations that used shells as money. It is unfortunate that throughout our history our trash consumption is growing higher and higher ending up in our oceans, and plastic parts are washing up on beaches and hermit crabs in some parts of the world are choosing the lighter weight objects for homes over shells due to the over abundance of trash on some beaches. In the study of domestic hermit crabs, they would prefer a lighter shell-hence their selection. In Florida we have zero issues, though the trash is there. I pick up what I can and support anyone or group who helps too. I’ve seen a few dredging sand nourishment projects here in Florida and you’d be surprised how many empty shells they dredge up from just a tiny portion of the ocean right off the beach-would blow your mind-there is no shortage of shells. I can only imagine that little section of dredge of millions of shells multiplied throughout our entire peninsula (and then the world, wow!) Feel free to check out those dredging videos by visiting my RUclips landing page to see for yourself the amount of shells. Most dredging projects are closed, not open to the public to collect shells and allll those shells are under the foundations of most Florida homes and buildings. All and all, these FL hermits are more than blessed with a selection 👍🏼

Thank you 😊 Yes! Large piles for sure! But I think for me Lido Beach shell piles a few years ago during a beach nourishment project hold the most shell piles I’ve ever seen. Yes!!!! I’ve had a few friends do that and one of these days my timing will work out so I can go myself hopefully 🙏🏼 I’ve heard fantastic shell stories after storms around there ❤️ This time we were heading back over to the east coast from staying on the west coast a couple of days and wasn’t going to go there but figured why not-stopped by before heading 3.75hrs home 👍🏼

Awesome! There are so many little places here in FL to go shelling. I love this state. Shame I've lived here basically all my life wanting to "move" nort and it's only in the past few years fell in love with shelling. Allllllllll that time on my hands when I first got married (over 20yrs ago) and moved to the coast and remember wishing the days aways sometime I was so board....mercy! I could have been beachcombing all that time 😭 But everything in its season.

Awesome! Oct-Jan is great for shelling there…try a very negative tide and be one of the first on the beach or get there at mid to dropping tide and stay till the lowest tide. After a cold snap is also good. Crazy windy days will suck out all the shells so a calm wave hight pushes more shells up in that area. Thx! It’s unfortunate that I had to set that up but I’ve had to block 2 users from my new channel so far due to each of my 2 guidelines 🫣 who knows I might have to add more. You can set it up on your channel too. On a computer go into your RUclips studio. On the left menu under your channel circle image, go towards the bottom and select “settings.” In the pop up window select “community” from the left menu. Then select “channel guidelines” on the top right. And there you can set a channel welcome message and set up your guidelines. Take care.
