Nice restoration, so satisfying working on quality equipment. I’ve got 2 old ones, 1 from the 1970’s and another older. How do you date them? Thanks
Thanks, I appreciate it. As for the year, it would be dated at the bottom of the 1970s. Try the same for the older one.
@ the one I bought has 72 stamped on bottom. The smaller older one which was my father’s has a 6 and over a couple of inches a 12. The 72 model has on the side of the rank a Coleman decal. The older one is stamped with “The Sunshine of the Night” with sun rays above and Coleman below. Going to do more research.
So on older Models the year was first. My guess it's a 1936 Dec.
Just got 275 and 220K from an antique store last weekend! The 275 has reflector attachment with spare mantles! Still waiting on new globe and generator for 220K lantern.

@ 275 is from 11/78 and 200k from 11/82. Not new to lanterns since I have 2 of 220/228E and it’s made only 2 months apart ( May and July 1960)!

just pour a little bit of Naphtha on the burners before lights, let it heat up and then turn on burners. same as using propane torch, but unlikely you have it in the bush.

instead of oil on the leather, Blistix, lip Balm does wonder. Spent my early military years starting from 1977 with this stove.

If you’re enjoying the 321B Canadian lantern, there is another model that is similar and very bright. It’s a Coleman model 335 Sport Lite. As I said, It looks very similar to yours but works best with a peerless 24A mantle, which is a slightly larger mantle than the Coleman 21. Cheers

Be careful buffing with a steel wire wheel. The brushes will deposit particles in the pores of the metal and you’ll find your brass, aluminum, stainless steel rusting. They make stainless steel wire wheels just for buffing stainless to not get rust.

I don't know where you are in Michigan, but in Sugarcreek, Ohio, there's a Coleman museum. It's not very big, but he has a lot of stuff. An Amish guy owns it. Also, an antique store not too far from it called Carlisle Antiques has a bunch of Coleman lanterns. It probably wouldn't justify a trip on it's own. Some day you might be traveling and remember this.

The 220B was produced from 1930 through 1942, so you have a 1935 model. The model 220 or L220 was the predecessor.

The Coleman brand Northstar mantles can be purchased at Ollies for $2.99 for a 2 pack. The last time I went to the Ollies near me, they still had a ton of them in stock.

How does the 550 compare to the apex stove? The appear as the same burner.
It was very similar to the Apex. But it was a little finicky at first I Don't know how long it's Sat. But it cleared out after a few minutes just lots of yellow flame.
@ I got home from a trip and fired up my Feather 400 for the first time it’s a ripper of a little stove. I haven’t gotten to run the Apex 2 yet but I did find a second pump/tank set to go with the extra burners I picked up.

Depending on the font and situation I have used: POR-15 Fuel Tank Sealer
Nice lantern, the nickel on it looks great! The date is May of 1937, the year is usually on the left with the older models.
