Добавлен 27 ноя 2015
Hi friends! If you're planning to move to or within the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, you're in the right place. This channel is your no-nonsense guide to help you get the real picture before you make the move. I've got video tours that give you a look at different areas and what it's like to live there, and tips for buying in the Twin Cities.
I've lived in many different states, sometimes in a house, and other times in a van (intentionally), so I when I moved back to the twin cities I had a newfound appreciation for all they have to offer.
I love having the opportunity to help people discover their love for the twin cities and find a suburb or neighborhood that fits their style of living.

Lived in MN all my life....never experienced a mn goodbye. When I m done I m done.
Part of leaving a Minnesota get-together is having to say goodbye to 30 individuals with at least 3 minutes spent talking with them
Well, it's only wierd when I go downtown
I HAVE NEVER DONE ANY OF THESE THINGS! Except for calling soda "pop" (which isn't all that odd considering the full term is soda pop, and people in the west and midwest say it as well) I have not done ANY of these things. I've seen the issue with stop signs but I haven't done it. Don't lump everyone into a group just because people you know do this.
Say yes to the beer chaser.
I live in long prairie MN and this place sucks is boring cold and miserable
HEY HEY HEY Minnesota is not weird im born raised minnesotian to stereotype us
Food sucks here. Teams suck here. There’s violence and theft. Watch you back on the light rail.
does minnesotan has germanic ancestors ? Bc the way they say goodbye is really something german speaking ppl do haha
Also, the expression Uff da, is Norwegian !
A lot of the traffic and politeness stuff is like we do things in Norway.
Yep, this is spot on! We do everything in steps and phases. Nothing outright. Don't know if that's supposed to be courteous or just devious in a passive-agressive manor. 😅
The weather, crime, and prices are reasons NOT to move here. Not to mention that the people are really not friendly, and it's hard for transplants to make friends.
can you still go for walks daily in the winter? Especially on the more southern side of minnesota?
I love duck duck goose! I like the irish goodbye.
I live in Minnesota had my ass handed to me you think Jesus had it ruff.
I hate it when I'm turning left and the driver across from me waves at me to go. No, you have the right of way, just go!
In the U.S. "pop" is more common than "soda." Minnesota is not unusual. I've never had a problem at four-way stops. Minnesotans are courteous. If two cars come to the stop at the same time, I always wave the other car through. That eliminates ambiguity. Simple. The "Minnesota accent" is strongest in central MN Scandinavian country. You won't hear it in German areas or up on the Iron Range, which has a very different accent. Minnesota has the most lakes, the most boats, and the most fishing activity. Going "to the lake" or "going up north" is an ordinary part of summer (and winter if you go ice fishing or snowmobiling). Minnesotans love the outdoors. Because winter is the longest season, Minnesotans just accept it, dress appropriately, and go about their life. A snowfall that would cripple some other states is rapidly dealt with in Minnesota. We have functional government. Minnesota is the only interior state that competes with coastal states on income and quality of life. That's because we invest in education, depend on income tax more than property tax, and have tax equalization so that poorer rural areas get subsidized by richer urban ones.
I fucking hate it here.
Minnesota and minnesotans suck
I didnt choose this life. This life chose me.
Thanks planning to use your advice for visiting
I live in Minnesota. Minnesota people will try to sugarcoat their speech and try to avoid conflict. They are quite private and indirect. South Dakota people are more upfront and will show their anger quicker.
As a school bus driver I've come to abhor people inappropriately yielding the right of way they're supposed to take. It causes unpredictability among all other drivers in the situation. If you have the right of way and everyone else seems to be doing the right thing, take it gosh darn it! Trying to be nice to a school bus just creates an uncomfortable situation for us.
MN drivers hesitate to no end. I moved here from Wisconsin. Rest is pretty much spot on. The goodbyes drive me nuts as well.
so if i take the last piece will i be talked about after my 45 min goodbye? haha kidding
Ive lived in minnesota my whole life and ive only ever met in person 1 person that has the steriotypical minnesotan accent.
i mean you missed having an evil communist government but yeah these are accurate
Wisconsin is similer if your house in revokeable trust
Just watch out for ones from Duluth there more weird, (especially those ppl in wi across the bay .... opps I one of those forget that )
I moved to Minnesota a while ago with my family, I'm not the most social person (autism and trauma with interacting with people, nor know anywhere people my age hang out) so this is pretty helpful
So many of these are similar in Michigan!
Except for the Grey duck thing, which I will still say is ente ente ganz (German), this is exactly Wisconsin. No difference. I grew up in Wisconsin and been to MN countless times. Moving there soon in fact.
People in California and Florida be like "I just don't like the cold." I be like "do you have jackets that protect you from earthquakes, wildfires, hurricanes and alligators?"
grew up in mn left for twenty years. lived in NY and China and now im back in mn. Northern MN is very nice. As a generality my experience is that people here are pleasant but private, communication style is often indirect and conversation kept light.
The pop thing, think of it like this, it comes from the word "soda pop". In soda pop, soda is an adjective and pop the noun. Just like soda water. Soda just means carbonated. What would you call this liquid if frozen on a stick? A sodasicle? No, it's a popsicle.
The alarms at both my houses go off in town every single day!
You’re making us look bad…..😬
I have no shame in taking the last piece. I love that my fellow Minnesotans will leave me that 1/64 of a donut.
Hi 'der den--- I graduated at Anoka Sr.High and I listened to KQRS
Minnesota is the rudest place I’ve ever lived the place sucks
SRSLY? Hesitating at a 4-way stop? Monthly tornado alarm? We have that in Indiana as well. Doesn't like, most of the country have that or at least all of the midwest?? Also, loads of places refer to soft drinks as "pop". That is neither weird nor unusual. These things are all very common throughout the United States, and probably lots of other countries for that matter.
Wow you guys are super polite. I don’t think I’m a rude person, but idk if I could handle a 2 hour goodbye or indecisive stoppers 😭😭😭
I say “ope” daily
Why is her accent thicker than mine. I've been here my whole life. I do see the o's but typically people don't have that thick of an accent unless they're from more up North and typically it's just a white people thing but not always
Any kid that grew up in Minnesota hated the goodbyes. You have to stand awkwardly for eternity waiting for you parents to wrap up a 5 hour conversation. And it isn’t just at someone else’s home. Grocery store, after big events, restaurant parking lots, you name it
I wish all cities could be as affordable as Minneapolis!
I like how you deleted the comments that didn’t align with your political views. Maybe just don’t respond next time instead of asking questions and getting responses you don’t like.
@@Psychiatricnerd I haven’t manually deleted any comments from this video, and the only ones I delete are the racist ones. If any comments were deleted it was due to me changing the settings on my channel, which deleted all the comments on all my videos.
Good information, especially for a person like myself who is coming from Arizona.
@@themadmadamemim2630 I just bought new insulated leggings, so I’m ready!
The accent rarely happens! Ope is a thing but not much past that… the rest of this list is spot on!
