Repent Jesus is using me to warn the world to start living for Jesus Christ before it's too late get baptized and filled with the holy Spirit please don't get too comfortable in this world or body it's temporary remember Jesus is the reason why we are still alive please don't take that lightly
They don't make em like they used to
Damn, Namath was the man! Shula really caught hell for Superbowl 3 over the years? How would that cloud his perfect season in - that's never been duplicated - in 1972? (Before anyone brings up the 2007 Patriots, I'm from New England. Life long Patriots fan here. 2007 didn't count because we lost the superbowl against the Giants) Don Shula went on to being one of the best had coaches of all time. I didn't like him in 07, but that's another story lol What a great video this was. Unbelievable.
17:58 someone's grandma used to be fine as hell
Sad to see what's become of the Jets in the modern era. Still, it's great to revisit these older games and see how much of a different game football was back then
Maynard is in pain near the end of game
The most important game of the year prior to the most important superbowl thst was fixed, staged, manipulated so the league would survive
He didn't start out that sharp in the '68 AFL Championship game with Oakland after staying out all night though. He didn't get the aim until the 2nd half as I recall. Their game was on the ground in the first half. When he's on his game he's deadly accurate and good that way for 80 yards. That's just not something you see often. You see a guy like Ken Anderson accurate mid field but not all the way down the field into a reciever's hands fast and perfectly. A joy to watch.
My dad bill nowack time stamp for when he shows up
It amazing how bad the fields were at the time.
Why did this game play in N.Y. instead of Oakland? Oakland won the Heidi Bowl game & had the better record also.
I had such a crush on Joe Namath as a girl. At some point in time I read his book I CAN’T WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW BECAUSE I GET BETTER LOOKING EVERY DAY. All these decades later with countless moves, I still have that book. I love football watching with my dad who taught me the game and though I’m a diehard Seahawk fan, Joe Namath remains my favorite QB. He was the best.
I was at this game for free with cousin Carl and a friend Pete Donofrio - At Shea Stadium , Flushing , New York we jumped the fence - !
1969 was not a good year for Baltimore - First in January the JETS beat the Baltimore Colts in the Super Bowl then in October The METS beat the Baltimore Orioles in the World Series
No upset here - Jets were a great team in 1968/1969 - Give them some credit - The Jets had "upset" the Colts ? Give some credit to the JETS for being a great all around team back then !
Shula goes to Johnny U after 1st half different game...Jets probably still win but different game😊
Excuses, excuses; the AFL and the Jets were just a better league and team at that time. The once in a generation Packers had their way the first two games but the AFL just had better talent.
Definitely fixed as was afl championship vs the raiders
Hay 41, you got your ass kicked
Lombardi was a blowhard
Wow so obvious the fix was in ....AFL championship and he throws behind line and all raiders just look and run away from the ball
I enjoyed Don Shula's commentary at 1:02:14
The NFL got a glimpse of Joe Namath for a brief period. Namath had 4 good seasons. How he did it and when he did it made him great. The FIRST OF THE REAL JOE'S!
Excellent thanks
Love some of the commercials
Loved watching the AFL when I was a kid
The Jets showed the AFL was every bit the equal of the NFL.

Thank you for making this film! So many of us want to do this but do not know how. You have left a memoir that many will learn from for many years. I hope that in America the people will remember what the families and ancestors went through and fought for . I beg do not aid in giving Ukraine to Putin in America elections.
Thank you for sharing the story of your family. This will explain to the people a bit of our history
Almost as iconic as the players is the Voice of a young Charlie Jones.
My parents as well. Father left Kolomiya, Buchach and mama left Berezhany, Raj…and went west to DP camps through Austria and Germany. They arrived in the US separately, he to Albany area, Mom to Newark, NJ. They met at Soyuzivka years later but both were heavily involved in the Ukrainian community. So was I, used to teach at St John’s School in Newark and belonged to Plast and went to Rodman Shkola on Saturdays. So many of our people came this way as the WW2 diaspora! 🇺🇦🙏🏻
Being 11 years old and crawling under the fence of the players parking lot (located behind right field), and attending the AFL Championship game. My friend , whose name escapes me know, and finding 1 seat in the first row which we shared. Did not see much of the game as our view was obstructed by the Raiders players all stood up on the sidelines as we were behind their bench. Running on the field and just going crazy when the game ended. I will never ever forget that game or the pandemonium afterwards. To this date I still cannot believe or understand why there is no video of the televised broadcast.
I just watched a broadcast of this game on NFL Network. I was struck by how subdued the crowd was, especially compared to today. It made me wonder how many tickets each team got. You would've thought at the end the Jets fans would be going nuts, but I didn't hear it.
Joe Namath kept his word
I was just 6, probably playing with my Hot Wheels cars.
Back when the Jets didn’t play in what is essentially the Giants’ stadium.
I was just 6 years old and this was the first football game I remember watching. We were from NYC, but living for a few years in the Chicago suburbs. My father is a Giants fan and he was mad the Jets won.
...On this day, six weeks later, "Heidi would not interfere"
Greatest game in Miami Dolphins history. Why? Had the Colts won, Shula would never have come to Miami. How ironic it was in The Miami Orange bowl.
Broadway Joe willie namath......my favorite sports athlete of all time!!!
Joe Willie Namath - my favorite athlete of all time!
The game was so much better back then. It was amazing how close Shula was, with the opportunity to have gone thru undefeated seasons, that year, and then four years later in Miami
Johnny Unitas, Joe Namath, Joe Montana, and Dan Marino, are all HOF QBs and all from Pennsylvania. Namath's pass to Maynard against the Chiefs was a thing of beauty. He streamlined that pass for about 40 yards on a rope. It may be the most beautiful pass I've ever seen.
What about George Blanda from Youngwood,Pa. ?
I was at that game with a good friend. Waited all night in the Shea parking lot for SR only tickets on sale at 8AM. Stood behind the home plate end zone like sardines in the cold. What a game. I consider it the best sporting event I've ever seen in person
The Raiders were 12-2 and the Jets 11-3. This game should have been played in Oakland.
AFL alternated east / west/ regardless of records
@@adrianhorodecky5264Yes, now that you mentioned it!!!
This game is a time capsule. The OB is long gone but it played a big role.
The Oakland Raiders of the late 1960s and early to mid 1970s remind me a lot of the Dallas Cowboys of that time. Oakland lost Super Bowl 2 to the Green Bay Packers in the 1967-68 season. Then they lost two consecutive AFL Championship games in 1968-69 and 1969-70 and then lost the very first AFC Championship game in 1970-71 after the AFL merged with the NFL. The Raiders lost 3 consecutive AFC Championship games in 1973-74, 1974-75 and 1975-76. The Oakland Raiders finally won their first Super Bowl, Super Bowl 11 against the Minnesota Vikings in 1976-77. They lost another AFC Championship game the next year in 1977-78. Dallas lost 2 consecutive NFL Championship games to the Green Bay Packers in 1966-67 and 1967-68 and two divisional playoff games against the Cleveland Browns in 1968-69 and 1969-70. The Cowboys lost Super Bowl 5 to the Baltimore Colts in 1970-71. The Cowboys finally won their first Super Bowl, Super Bowl 6 over the Miami Dolphins in 1971-72. Dallas lost two consecutive NFC Championship games in 1972-73 and 1973-74 and they lost Super Bowl 10 to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1975-76. Dallas won its second Super Bowl, Super Bowl 12 against the Denver Broncos in 1977-78. Oakland had to deal with the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs when they were in their late 1960s AFL prime and then had to contend with the Miami Dolphins.and the Pittsburg Steelers in their 1970s prime plus an unexpected rise of the Denver Broncos in 1977-78. The Cowboys had to deal with the Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns of the mid and late 1960s and then face off against the Washington Redskins, Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams of the early to mid 1970s.
@billmalone5050 the sad thing is those two great powers never played each other in a Super Bowl. Would have been a great matchup.
