Hitchport Storage Solutions- RV Sway Bar Storage
Greetings! After over a year of use, how has the RVMasking camper cover worked out? Durability?
So after a Texas panhandle winter and crazy wind like always I wish it had held up better. It had some tears and the wheel covers were destroyed. I will say I have not found a cover that survives well here with the wind and bitter cold.
Thanks! Good job on the review! Winter is on the way and I’m thinking of getting this. In red! Haha.
Thanks for watching! I’m about to break it out for the patio myself!
Big black wha 😂 2:20
🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ it’s taken a long time for this comment to happen. lol nice work.
A year later what’s “dads” thoughts?
He loves it! Wished we had installed it sooner. Stayed charged up no issues for 2 weeks
Awesome video! Thank you!
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching.
good job
Thank you’
Just installed a Recpro 2120 12v refrigerator on our Jayco 5th wheel. We often travel for multiple days at a time and so I wanted to ensure the fridge was always on. I installed the standard 120v->12v converter and then wired in a relay such that if the 120v power is off, the fridge automatically switches to 12v. This was a simple job and now I have a fridge running off 120v when it is available and 12v battery (with 400w Solar) when we are disconnected or traveling. This will be our first trip but I expect it will work great.
Great job! I hope all is well with it. I know he has loved having this fridge in his camper
Thanks
Did I miss what year this unit was?
This was a 2018
Kelsie, when I watched your video I noticed you had a problem with you holding up the doors. I have a Wolf pup and I installed "RV door clips" like the one on your outside Cargo Storage Door. Amazon has the in black and white. I screwed one on the ceiling strips each door. They work much better than the hydraulic ones that everybody is using. The best thing is "$7.98" for a set of 5. They are listed by "BLACKHORSE-RACING RV Camper Door Holder" As of today they are in stock too!!
On my todo list. My only change would be make it a bit lower and add a bottom shelf
Great ideas!
Thanks for the great video. Under the car I go...
Thanks! Good luck hahaha
Skid plate removal is totally unnecessary, the giant hole in the skid plate at 1:52 allows access to the bolt. Water bottle is perfect for oil filter, just lay it under the nipple.
Yea that’s a good call. This is how it’s designed it seems. Thanks!
Wow how time flies. Holden is a little boy now! So fun to see content again. Keep us posted on your camping adventures along with tech stuff.
I know right!!! Getting big for sure and ready to help dad always. Thanks for commenting and I’ll be trying to get some more stuff out there soon!
I started going back reading some of your comments. Did you end up adding a second battery and finding that successful. I added 600 watts of solar and a 300ah lithium battery and have been super happy
Wow, you are set up for unlimited power! I ended up with two 6 volt batteries I think 230ah. We just camp for 2 to 3 days at most. The holding tanks in the wolf pup are not that big with a family of 5 as you know. We use the harbor freight predator generator to offset the inadequate stock 50w solar. Yes, it's heavy with a full tank of gas. I did upgrade the wheels.
Ah man I was so close to going 6v but then got that lithium battery. We camped for 8 days dry and never needed the generator. Every day by lunch we were back to 100% power. I loved it hahaha. Was even able to use my inverter to use microwave. The 50w stock on these campers are almost useless hahaha
This brings back memories. About time to replace my awning Great video Hank.
Thanks! Hahaha yup it’s on the way!
im having the exact same issues as you had. now i have found a capacitor but i cannot find a fuse, any chance you remember where you got one or able to point me in the right to find one
Yea here is the link to find what I used. Thanks for watching!!! amzn.to/38QShyq
Lucky.. TY for shearing.
No prob. I feel I did get a bit lucky haha
What ? Your showing nothing
Guess you didn’t watch it…
Word of advice: Next time you have to desolder something, add some low melt solder to the back of the board so it puddles easier and gives you less of a chance of pulling the traces off the board.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll get some to keep on hand!
Also: Flux is your friend. Total game changer when soldering.
If I remember correctly I was using rosin core so no need for flux unless you have found it is still helpful?
Very much still helpful. Especially when working on large joints like that where there's a lot of solder to heat up in order to get good flow. I like using the flux pens. They're like a paint pen. Just depress the tip and it dispenses a little liquid flux right where your need it.
You make that look so easy.My camper got hit by lightning and I only have one power source not the 2, so I sure hope this is what it is.And i'm going to have someone try it. But you explained it very nicely.
I appreciate that. Thanks for taking time to comment! Good luck.
Thanks for this! Just checked mine on a new to me camper and it is blown. It looks like 250v 5A fuse, correct?
Happy that you found the issue! If it’s the same converter then maybe so. You can open the video description and it’ll have links to the parts. Thanks for watching.
Great video..
Thank you!
Where are you getting your parts? Can you please add a link?
Thanks for watching. Links are in the video description.
Changed mine now the water wont flow into the toilet any suggestions why?
Thanks for watching. Hmmm weird. This has never happened to me. Faulty valve?
Keeping a gas can on the back of the camper is extremely dangerous
Thanks for watching. I don’t see why it’s any more dangerous than in the back of a truck or side of a camper perhaps.
That fridge looks sweeeeeeeet. Can't wait to see a video installed. Totally should do the roller shelf.
Yes I can’t wait either!
So basically your knees are touchin the person in front of you and the back of the seat is obstructing the aisle behind you. Really wanted this chair but seeing it in actual use, it's too big.
It is no bigger than any other bleacher chair out on the market. I have used it at a football game with no problems.
Where did you buy the replacement fuse
Links should be in the description. Thanks for watching.
What if I broke the bottom plastic latch on the new order
I don’t think it will stay in the slot if that is broken and not spray where it needs to
thank you, for learning the insides.
You bet! I love learning. Thanks for commenting and watching.
Thanks for sharing! There is a ton of full time living organization - but not a lot for weekend warriors.
You bet! Thanks for letting me know it helped. This is true. I loved that camper so much. We have since upgraded but it was an awesome start for us.
@@RotoCityTechwhat are yall in now? We have a grand design 21bhe. It’s hard to not want to upgrade!
We are now in a grey wolf 23dbh and absolutely love it. With two little boys growing up we just wanted more space.
@@RotoCityTech What a great layout! Love the second door goes into the bathroom. I really want a recliner in the next rig. My parents follow us in their small class B - but eventually will probably not want to drive and those two suite with loft 5th wheels are TEMPTING. Then I see the price and think.. nah im good. :D
Haha yes I agree with you about those 5th wheels! We love the 23dbh and I am right now upgrading to a full length awning because it does not cover the bathroom door currently. The second door tho is one of our favorite things!
Thank you for this. I am about to embark on the same journey. :)
Good luck! Hope you figure it out and thanks for commenting!
Great video. Sounds like the Wolf Pup 16FQ may suit you guys a little better. Have you looked into that?
Thanks for watching! Yes, we looked into that one as well. Ended up going bigger into a grey wolf 23dbh
@@RotoCityTechOh nice!! Yeah, might as well step it up if you can. I love that whole line. Thanks for the inspiration. I’ll probably be showing highlights of mine on my channel a well.
Perfect -- just the facts, and easy to follow.
Thanks for watching!
Love it when a 3 yr old video is useful. First time using water with ours and it seemed weird that the fresh water intake was labeled "drain" so was confused. Will def get something akin to what you use at some point instead of pointing a hose in
And i love when one of my videos is still useful to someone haha. This water pump system is so handy when you find yourself at a site without water hookups and you need to tote water. We used to just use 5 gallon jugs at a time and walking them from the fill up to the camper. Now we are rolling 15 gallons at a time with no lifting.
Thanks for posting. Been trying to fix my problems with my batteries not charging for almost 2 years. I have replaced 2 sets of batteries twice as well as the converter on my inverter. If I put jumper cables on my batteries and connect to my truck, the 12 volt refrigerator works, otherwise, refrigerator does not work. Can't wait to trouble shoot later on today.
Oh man I sure hope you figure out the problem!! Be sure to keep me updated on this because they can be a real bear to find. I would also check the reverse polarity fuse in the panel. If that blows it can cause similar stuff
My channel I post some videos on our Old RV that we too moved on from, but it was way too old and leaking bad. So, we just got a newer one and it's awesome for the 2 of us. It's 3 years old so broke in but not without some minor issues. I told you on your video on the converter, but it also has a bad RV fireplace that the board went south. My plan is to get rid of the China board and just put in switches to run it manually. We only use it when we are right there and not when gone. it already has a thermal blow safeguard but need to put a heat rheostat to control the temp which was a issue the old one had I believe if running it as much as the prior owners did. They bought the trailer while they were having their new house built and lived in it which explains why the converter and the electric fireplace died so soon being only 3 years old.
You are probably right. I never had a fireplace in a camper until our latest one and it is actually really nice to have when you are plugged in anyways. It probably isn’t very expensive to just replace that board is it? But the switches idea is a good one as well. I’ll have to check out some of your stuff!
Thanks, will sub and watch your videos too. The board cost as much as a converter and are junk. Old book was before boards were invented and it lasted forever basically. Of course switches and rheostats are not what they use to be but at least easier and cheaper to replace
@@TimsWorkshopTJY this is true too. Yup I’m subbed to you as well.
got the same problem which I'm sure many have just bought new converters but why not have a backup with you that has been fixed for cheap. So just to fill in some info here the replacement fuse info is on the board next to the fuse. mine shows a ST15A 250V ceramic that you can buy a pack of 5 online but without the S. I looked it up and both the ST and the T are both Slow Blow fuses but one is more resistant to overload than the other. So, if your careful how to hook up to a park or not cross your battery terminals you should be good with the T15A 250V fuse. Will take my extra fuses with us on our trips and my solder and gun for fixing the next one.
I agree with all of this! Overall they are pretty cheap but I know myself and alot of people enjoy fixing things and being able to rely on just me. It’s handy to know these things to get out of a bind. Thanks for the comment.
Got the fuse pack but just discovered one of the capacitor is blown. I see the ebay link and looks like I just put in the info and how many needed so will buy a few of then since they are so cheap. I put in the new converter a couple days ago and that's working fine. The old one is just a fun project.
Ugh it’s always something else huh! Luckily you have the new one and now can take the time to learn on the old one!
Water pressure is probably because you didn't open your low point drains
Could be right. It’s been a while since I did this but very well could be correct. Thanks for watching!
I have the exact same converter. Would you by chance have a link to where I can buy the capacitors.or a part number for them?
Yea just expand the description of the video and there should be links to what I used
Fuse link- amzn.to/38QShyq Capacitor link- www.ebay.com/itm/124781084107?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=zZA7McRrTrC&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=jf9Ek1UhRGK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Great vid thanks for putting this together. Quick question for you or anyone else on here, can I connect this system to a 140 min R/C Group#24DC battery?
You should be able to yes. Just make sure in the solar controller that you set it for lead acid or sealed or whatever that particular battery is. Thanks for watching and reaching out
I actually want my battery charger on its own circuit breaker when boondocking so when I plug in my trailer into my inverter hooked to my batterys I won't create a loop , a converter charger my batteries with my batteries when. Boondocking.
I installed an automatic switch so that when I’m plugged in it takes my inverter out of the loop and when I am boondocking my inverter clicks back in the loop. Also when I have a generator plugged in the system just things it’s normal power and my inverter no longer is in the loop
Here is the video explaining that setup ruclips.net/video/bAJZvtl4bKk/видео.htmlsi=4gMXh8ZJbUyUWkZl
The The exactly same thing happened to me. The beginning of this month.
This is just too common! Hope ya got it fixed tho
I looked at your link to the Witonic electronics site and saw the pack of 5 15A 240v repair fuses but didn't see any 30A but for my rig need a 50amp
So even if your camper has a 50 amp system you need to make sure of the amps for that exact fuse on the board
I bought a new one but want to fix the old one as a backup. understand and when I take the old fuse out will know what it is. I do see 30amp ceramic fuses and the 15amp on the website but the 30amp is just the snap in ones not like the 15amp with solder leads.
Seems pretty straightforward. I guess I will see once I get down there and actually do it. lol
Yea it is. Hardest part is getting down there where you can get eyes on it well hahaha.
@@RotoCityTech I wound up not being able to see anything. Besides, my back doesn't let me twist in certain ways. I guess I will wind up seeing if I can find a mobile RV service or have to just take it in. Oh well. lol. I tried, and the video was still very informative and helpful in any event.
Oh no! I understand you do have to really get down and behind it to see
Got mine today. I cannot believe the weight of this. Boat anchor. Well built
Lol yes, they are very heavy! Nice feel tho!
Awesome video. The altering of the cover was priceless. Been looking all day how to make it fit over the two. Even the manufacturer had no answer. Just said it doesnt fit. For your great video here is a tip. Be in Southern states by 2030 with supplies. Start a new christian society. You will know my words are true before then and then you can remember what was said. But it wasnt i who said those words. It was an angel.who did "THIS MAY BE THE EXTINCTION OF THE HUMAN RACE WE ONLY HAVE ENOUGH FOOD AND WATER FOR THREE DAYS WE NEED TO GET TO THE SOUTHERN STATES" then i asked the angel "What year is it?" He replied "2030."
Thank you! Glad it helped you out!
Nice
Thanks! I use this thing constantly in the backyard to power a speaker and charge phones during parties
@RotoCityTech I have built several. I use them all around the house, garage and outdoors
Sick. Yea pretty easy and way useful.
Thank you in 2024
Thanks for watching!
