On my Weber Q I cook a US Classic Shrimp & Grits, here, us Brits call a Shrimp a Prawn, as we don't see Grits, on UK supermarket shelves I'm using Polenta, so th...

Doesn't the wire brush scratch the enamel grates?
Hi there, my grates are now over 10years old and are due to be replaced, when they were new I didn't notice any scratching the enamel is really tough. I have always followed instructions given on a BBQ course I did many years ago, and that's what my video is based on.
Willy this is a great recipe to share. Your King Prawn Thermidor looks delicious, and it also shows just how creative outdoor cooking can be!
Hi Kevin, many thanks for your comment, this is a meal I'd cook if we had just a couple of friends round, providing they liked prawns.
I put my wood chips right on top of the charcoal once it's going. The chips start smoking within minutes. And what's the big deal about soaking them. I'm surprised you even grill if adding water to a pan of chips is too much for you. It seems this "review" was biased from the start.
Hi there, many thanks for your comment, the products were being reviewed to create smoke on a GAS grill, and were my own personal findings. Many years ago I used to cook on charcoal and never found the need to add anything to the fire, that lovely smokey barbecue flavour was always there. The gas grill has much going for it, the one thing it does not do is produce that lovely smokey flavour hence the need for a smoker box plus wood chips, pellets, or dust. If the wood chips were not soaked they would just set on fire and do little to enhance the flavour of the food being cooked, when soaked in water they will eventually start to smoulder and give off a white smoke which imparts its flavour onto the food being cooked on the grill. Many thanks for watching my videos.
I've been off RUclips a bit this year, and just saw you hit this milestone! Congratulations!!!
Hi there, many thanks for your comment, so glad you're back.
Had some doubt to order 1. You convinced me thanks as a thank you ive subscribed to your channel
Hi there, I hope you find it as useful as I do, many thanks for your comment and subbing my channel, hope you enjoy the videos to come.
Grits like Porridge or Polenta heavily rely upon the other ingredients to give the dish taste and flavour. In my 13 years of living and working in the USA I never found grits worth eating unless it had bacon fat in. I like your grllied polenta which obviously has lots of flavour because of the chicken stock, cheese , onions and mushrooms. Well done for being imaginative on your Weber BBQ.
Hi Kevin, many thanks for your comment, you are the second person to tell me that polenta needs bacon fat, I'll try it with the half packet I've got left. It certainly was a challenge to get flavour into it. Once again thanks for your professional advice, it is really nice having a pro subbing my channel.
as a lady from the south i can tell you the secret to good grits is bacon fat, butter and cheese. until you've had them done the right way I agree that grits are gross!
Hi Stephanie, many thanks for your comment and letting me into the secret, I've got half a packet of polenta left so the next time as well as butter and cheese, it will be bacon fat plus whatever I can find to go with it. Once again thanks for your comment and thanks for watching my channel.
Only just recently subscribed, would be great to see you taking a taste and enjoying the food. Otherwise that was awesome, enjoyable and heartwarming.
Hi Mike, thank you for your comment its nice to know what my viewers really think, on some of my older videos you will see me tasting the food, (not a pretty sight) on those rare occasions I do like it when I can get friends to taste my food on camera, many will eat the food but won't go on camera. Once again thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
@@BBQWalkofFlame ah fair enough! I'll look forward to more videos
Amazing version !
Hi Lefteris, always nice to hear from you, thanks for your comment.
Great review, I was wondering how the stainless steel top holds up. I'm interested in this product for my Electric smoker.
Hi there, many thanks for your comment, I think it depends on how heavy the smoker is and how hot it gets, I did mark the stainless steel top with a hot pan from the BBQ, it took ages to clean off. Once again thanks for your comment.
A great and yet easy way to fix Jersey Royals on the Barbie! They look delicious!
You realy keep the BBQ, tools and sidetable i great condition.
Hi there, I do try, as the grill is getting rather old the plastic side tables are quite difficult to clean, spray cleaners are leaving the tables a bit sticky, as for the tools they go in the dishwasher. Thanks for watching my videos please keep watching.
Another great one!
Hi there, many thanks for your comment I do appreciate it.
Great looking meal.
Hi Kevin, it's all down to the potatoes, the salmon just filled an empty space on the plate.
They look delicious, good video
Hi Simon, not only do they look good, they taste it too.
Here in Wisconsin we would have at least 3 beers before we scraped our grill but only a minor disagreement
That has to be the way to do it, thanks for your comment, thanks for watching the vid.
Great video! I'm sure your American fans will love this Monster of a burger! It looks delicious. 👍😋
Hi Kevin, thanks for your comment, in the UK, it could be a sharing burger.
Congratulations on getting to 1,000 subscribers, I'm sure it will continue to climb! Best Wishes Kevin
Hi Kevin many thanks it's all down to the algorithm.
Congratulations! What software do you use to edit your videos?
Hi Justin, I use Final Cut Pro for editing and Motion for graphics, both Apple products I enjoy working with, many thanks for your comment and watching my video,
Great review friend. Very helpful and informative. Think I might have to do the walk of flame tomorrow and buy a new barbecue!!!!!
Hi Luke, many thanks for your comment glad it was helpful, thanks for watching my vid.
Congratulations!
Thank you! much appreciated.
Like the branded apron. 👍🏻
Hi Simon, many thanks for your comment, glad you like the apron.
Excellent video as always- still can’t believe how clean yiu keep your bbq 😊👍
Hi Greg, many thanks for your comment, you know my mantra, burn off and brush off, it works every time.
"The heart attack burger supreme...With cheese" :D Great stuff as always, keep it up!
Hi Chrille, sure is, glad you like it, thanks for the comment.
Too much heat mate, I would turn it down 1/4 and let it simmer crisp
Hi there, many thanks I'll give it a try.
Great idea for a Caesar Salad, thanks for sharing. I really like the idea of using the anchovy oil to cook the croutons. I often use the oil from sundried tomatoes to cook croutons or in a salad dressing.
Hi Kevin, I discovered this recipe in a newspaper and I'll certainly be making it if I can get decent sprouts this summer.
I think this recipe may need a public safety warning. Potentially devastating consequences with 20 sprouts 😂
Hi Simon, thank you for your comment, I get your drift, however this recipe yields enough salad for 6 to 8 people as a side dish. Should anyone be greedy enough eat the whole lot, then I agree an explosive situation on an atomic scale could result. On the positive side, capture it and there could be enough gas to power my Weber Q for a whole season. Once again thanks for your comment.
Summer is just around the corner!
Hi Fredrik, fingers crossed, my Q will be out on the patio this weekend.
I 've enjoyed all of your videos and I am waiting for the q to come out at the patio 🌞
Hi Lefteris, glad you enjoy my videos, the weather is looking good right now the Q will be on the patio this weekend. Many thanks for your kind words I really do appreciate it.
A must try! Do you think its OK to use American yellow mustard instead?
Hi Fredrik, American yellow mustard should be OK, the flavour may be slightly different but should not make that much difference, many thanks for your comment please let me know what you think of it when you've tried it.
Old Dane: I wish that we could get that quality of bacon in Denmark. Weber-model?
Hi Keld, my Weber is a Q3200, I thought Danish bacon was top quality, we can get it in UK supermarkets, as I get all my meat from a local butcher its all local produce, or so he says. Many thanks for your comment and watching my video. Cheers.
No vinager
Correct no vinegar, version 2 is with an orange dressing which does have cider vinegar, your comment has prompted me to consider including version 2 on the channel in the future, so keep watching, many thanks.
Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Going to give this one a go this summer.
Hi Simon, many thanks for your comment it is much appreciated, not only does this one look good it tastes good too.
Great recipe!
Hi there, many thanks for your comment, it is much appreciated.
Three easy marinades. The great thing about cooking is even chefs can learn about ingredients they are not familiar with, such as Zhoug Paste, thanks Willy. Best Wishes Kevin
Hi Kevin, I'd never heard of it until I came across the recipe, is it something I'll use again? maybe, many thanks for your comment. Cheers.
It doesn’t come with a bottle opener for the price it cost it should.
Hi there, when I got my Unity XL it did come with a bottle opener and 4 hooks for my BBQ tools, since then I've lost the bottle opener, and have purchased some more hooks, thanks for your comment, it's great to hear from my viewers.
The most useful and reasonable video I’ve seen. Thank you sir
Thank you for your comment, I really do appreciate it.
There's a spelling mistake in your background screen "babecue" instead of "barbecue". :) I did enjoy your demonstration of the griddle, I'll be getting one shortly.
Hi Daemon. well spotted, I am aware of the typo, however to correct it would mean re-editing the whole video which I'm unable to do. This video has been viewed 8161 times, and you are only the second person to inform me, whilst the same backdrop was used on two or three other videos it has now been corrected. It is really nice to know that my videos are viewed in detail, and I welcome any mistakes brought to my attention, after all I'm human. Many thanks for watching my channel.
I vote for Smokey!
Hi Karen, many thanks for your vote, but will smokey be the one when the BBQ weather arrives?
Trying this tomorrow for a family birthday bbq on the broil king signet. Thanks for the detailed video 👍 excellent production quality. Take care friend 🎉
Hi Ryan, hope you had a great birthday barbecue and the onions gained approval, many thanks for your comment its lovely to hear from my viewers. I can't wait for the BBQ weather to arrive here in the UK, keep watching I have some really tasty recipes to try.
Great video as usual!
Hi Geoff, nice to hear from you again, glad you liked the vid. I recon in about 4 to 5 weeks my Weber Q will be out of the garage, until then its stuff I can do in the kitchen, Cheers.
I had to take a break from social media for awhile. I’m glad to see you’re still putting it out there. I’ll be following for sure!
Glad to have you back, thanks for your support.
Wow it looks great Willy and I've never heard of Jersey Black Butter. Now I'm intriqued and will have to go buy some for myself.
Hi Kevin, I make this cheesecake when ever I can get my hands on a jar, if any of the family are going to Jersey for a holiday I always ask for a jar of Black Butter. A couple of years ago I saw it on sale at the farm shop on the M5 at Gloucester Services, have called there many times since but no luck. It's a unique flavour, easy to make, and another video for the winter months. From the Black Country, its my best wishes to you and your family for 2024, looking forward to your BBQ recipes, can't wait for the season to start. Cheers.
Will definitely give this a go next year 👍 thanks mate
Hi Ryan, thanks for your comment I do appreciate it, why wait until next year, turkey breast escallops are available from many supermarkets all year round, and they can be cooked in the kitchen, the taste is amazing.
Glad to see your bbq gets as dirty as mine - great video thank you
Hi Greg, you just can't do barbecue cooking without being messy, my mantra burn off and brush off seems to work. Thank you for your comment I do appreciate any feed back. Right now I can't wait for the spring so I can get grilling again, I have some cracking recipes to cook, so keep watching, and once again many thanks for your support.
Those erroded grates are easy to replace these days anyway. You could keep using that bbq for another ten years if you did.
Hi Cindy, many thanks for your comment, I do hope you are right about getting another ten years out of it, right now I'm very happy with my Weber Q, its well made and is everything I want from a barbecue, occasionally I could do with something a bit bigger but those times are few and far between. I recon I'll get another season out of those grates, so keep watching and see.
@BBQWalkofFlame I bought my family q on new years eve. Various problems meant I only got the gas bottle for it yesterday and I'm going to fire it up for a test run today. Is there anything I should do for first use to clean the grills and griddle? It's just sausages and a couple of burger patties to see how they cook for lunch but I'm still excited. I have never bbq'd before. With a possible cyclone on the coast I thought it a good time to learn for emergencies. Also yummy food.
Hi Cindy, as far as I can remember the instructions said, wash in warm soapy water and dry before use, however it been a long time since my Q was new. Some on RUclips say the grates need to be seasoned, I followed the Weber instructions and did not experience any major problems, occasionally some foods will stick, very often because I'm trying to remove or flip too soon, brush the meat not the grates with oil does help with sticking, at this point I season the meat with pepper only, as salt draws out the moisture, I like my steaks juicy. I do hope that cyclone changes direction and you can enjoy your Weber Q, here in the UK its mid winter, lots of rain, a bit of snow, freezing temperatures -10c, so my Weber Q is in the garage until March/April, when I can't wait to get cooking again. Once again many thanks for watching my channel, any problems get in touch.
@BBQWalkofFlame success! It was just premade burger paties and sausages but they were great. I did it completely solo and I did a gentle cleanse in soap and water like you said. Still intimidating but excited to try again. Thanks for the advice and encouragement. Unfortunately the cyclone looks like it will form in 2 days and is heading in our direction on the Queensland coast so looks like a stormy Australia day weekend for us. I'm looking forward to exploring your channel and trying a few things.
You are most welcome
I visited @lamarewineestate-jersey and purchased a jar of black butter, this looks like a great recipe that I'll have to try👍🏻
Hi Simon, many thanks for your comment it is much appreciated, please let me know what you think of your Jersey Black Butter Cheesecake, once you've tried it.
Looks over done
Hi Bob, many thanks for your comment and yes you are quite right it was a bit overdone, but still an amazing taste. Keep watching I will be cooking another one once winter here in the UK is over, will I get it right, that's the question?
Thank you for the video! And detail you went into, just got and used my new Weber Q 2800N+ and absolutely loved it!
Hi there, thank you for your comment I really do appreciate it, look after your Weber Q and it will give years of service and pleasure, it is indeed a great bit of kit.
They looked awesome 👌👌👌
Hi there, yep they're really good, can't wait for the spring when I'll be cooking them again, many thanks for your comment it is much appreciated.
