No it was shot on super 8 film
Find it!
I was there ramones
Te lo digo en argentino: Gracias!
I worked this show! He pulled his wiener out!
Was this the show with XTC? If so I was there.
Ultravox opened for The Buzzcocks on this gig but XTC also played the same year at the same venue. I was also there.
"I got caught so the end". You're a legend, Mr. Gilman. I love this so much.
Thanks Mina. Those were the days
Love this, Mark! How did you capture the sound? It's pretty f'ng good!
It was an Elmo 1012-S super 8 sound camera with a built in condenser mic mounted on top.
@@kotumba Remarkably good!
Remarkable.
Historic Video.....Well Done Mark Gilman.....You Are Hardcore.....
Saw The Ramones once for their Brain Drain tour and their energy was nuts. The concert felt like it was over before it started because they blew through their set so fast. I think my head is still spinning from that show. LOL
So Lovely, thank you! Esp endearing is the fact it was confiscated. I had something like that happen with me at a Violent Femmes show ca: 1990. I got the tape back, maybe I will post soon. I love the shenanigans at the end minute 🙂
Granada Lawrence Kansas?
Kansas City, KS. Different Granada.
@@kotumba in KCK? What street was it on? Any info on the venue? I grew up in KCK and am very curious. Central?
@@paticusmaximus12 1007 Minnesota Ave. it’s still there. It’s on the historic registry now.
@@kotumba cool! Thanks
No one wants to listen to this f****** distorted ass song
moron rock
In 1978, the Ramones were the greatest live band in the world. I saw them in NYC and around the NYC area many times. But, I have never seen a live performance recorded from that year that captures their essence like this recording... This is a thing of beauty. :)
Gold footage. Thank you. Way to ahead of their time the boys
❤️ Awesome!
The Granada is actually in Lawerence, Kansas`much west of KCK or KCMO.
There is a Granada in Lawrence but this Granada was at 1007 Minnesota Ave in KCK. It’s still there but used for something else. It’s on the National Historic Register. Built in 1928.
I didn't know my love for the Ramones could ever grow bigger. Seeing this just sent it into the stratosphere. Absolutely fantastic. If there is a God, God bless the Ramones.
Why were they so uptight about filming? The film cartridges only recorded 3 and a half minutes. (Unless you were caught switching film carts) I also like the clip at the end. It proves Boomers weren’t much different from us when they were young!
This is so good...what a great find!
I was born five days after that. Cool!!
This great rock n roll history at its best. We should all be thanking this person for the amazing footage he gave us.
Let me know if you'd like the Super 8mm transferred in 4K. I just purchased the latest Retroscan.
Que show histórico ! Muito bom , bem underground , com microfonia nos microfones e tudo ... Os vi no início da década de 90... no Canecão e no Circo Voador(duas casas de shows lendárias do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). São talentosíssimos ! O show é incrível ao vivo... ! RAMONES FOREVER !
Just brilliant !!!!
Love the stooges routine at the end!
Valioso documento, gracias.
<3
WOW!
Mark, I love you guys at the end! The shirts! The make-up! What a couple of Stooges!
Wow, you managed to plow through about four rolls of film before they caught you! That's committment! Nice work!
This is fantastic!! Thank you for sharing. I saw The Ramones twice, perhaps in 1990 and again in 1991, and consider that one of the highlights in bands I've seen!
YES these guys rock so hard
Holy smokes 🔥 what a gem!! Thanks for sharing this after all these years
My Google news feed recommended this. I saw them in January 1980, my first gig at the age of 14, and over 40 years later this is like being there all over again. Thank you!!!!
A world without the Ramones... Horrible!
Thanks for unearthing this clip of bliss! It’s really great
The Granada Theater was not in Kansas City but in Lawrence KS....great footage! Rock history right there!!
Actually it was on Minnesota St. in Kansas City, KS. It’s still there but is being used for something else. I was there as I shot the film but you are correct in that there is also a Granada Theater in Lawrence.
@@kotumba Thanks for the clarification! What a great show to have attended...glad you shared that historic footage!
@@kotumba hey Mark, thanks for this! a true piece of history. are you one of the 2 guys at the end of the tape? what's your story? what are you doing now, and do you still see bands in the KC area?
And they are still dicks about recording.
Thank you thank you thank you BUBBY🤘🤤you made me day
real🔥
I was 4 year's old.
I arrived here just to see the end
ruclips.net/video/NUIv2bOXYco/видео.html
A treasure! Thanks!
What gear did you use? This looks/sounds killer!
I used an Elmo 1012-S with 200’ film magazines. I had two of them with me but only got to shoot one as I got caught by management. Bootlegging was strictly illegal back in those days.
@@kotumba - Did they let you stay in the venue? The footage looks and sounds great! How did you transfer it to digital?
I doubt this is 78. The Ramones hadn't even recorded I don't care for another year.
